We had a wonderful visit to this hotel. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. They offer shuttle service to airport (fastest way to get to metro) and into "downtown" Old Town Alexandria. Lots of resturants close by. Very nice hotel. We would stay again.

Apart from being put in a smoking room instead of non this is a very nice hotel. The pool is well maintained, as is the gym. The hotel staff are helpful, and the hotel itself is well situated. However their shuttle service is errattic at best, (in our three day stay we waited at least an hour to be picked up, once for two and a half hours) and the drivers to nearby Alexandria seem to think it's a taxi and they should be paid, even when you've been kept wiating. They also don't take you to the "nearest" metro station, they take you to the one at the airport which means depending on how many people are waiting with luggage you may or may not get on the shuttle. The restaurant is overpriced and not very good at all.

We stayed in a beautiful suite! It was not at all like your standard, floral-print, cheesey hotel room. The suite had a modern, metro look (striped comforter, striped wall paper, etc) with super a comfortable bed. With the hotel roughly 6 blocks from King Street, it was a great to be able to walk among the old houses on our way to dinner.

Although they could not find us a non-smoking room, which we had requested, they sent someone to show us several rooms and choose one, then threw in a free breakfast for two. Elevators very slow and hot! Room was cozy, but dark. Decent location, but a ten minute walk to shops, restaurants in Alexandria. Very accommodating staff.

We came to sight see DC for a few days. The hotel was nice but the room was a little smaller than I expected. Our room was one of the newly renovated ones, and I have to say, the curved shower curtain was a nice extra. Our bed had a real duvet, not a bedspread, and the complimentary coffee was actually pretty good (this coming from a Southerner who lives for her dark roast coffee)! My only real complaint is the hotel's shuttle service to/from the Metro station(s). The station with shuttle service is the one at Ronald Reagan Airport. You must walk to the other station in the vicinity, which is about 9 blocks through a sketchy neighborhood (e.g., don't walk it at night). Shuttle service in peak times is every half hour, hourly at other times. Inconvenient if you miss it by 5 minutes. Don't bother with the shuttle to Old Town Alexandria. It's walkable in a pinch, and you won't find anyone to take you there anyway. We weren't sure how far it was, so we decided to wait--only to have the shuttle driver go MIA. The guy behind the desk decided to drive us. Problem: he didn't know how to drive the bus. We sat inside for the first couple of minutes and waited for him to figure out how to open the bus door. We didn't have time to check out the pool or gym. Other than the inconvienience of having to fit your schedule to the shuttle, this was a nice place to stay. It would probably be much better for business travelers.

We went as a family of 13 and were very impressed with the quality of service; rooms and restaurant were terrific. They should advertise the breakfast buffet more- excellent meal and value, and it's a child free for every adult. The transportation to the airport was not as frequent as I would have liked, and it is a bit far from the downtown sites but overall a wonderful stay.

The concierge is so unfriendly that I could not receive any support for my arrangement of the sightseeing in DC. In addition, if you would like to take subway to DC, be sure that no shattle is available to the hotel. I was very disappointed.

I stayed here twice, over night, and both times the staff was exceptionally helpful, courteous, and friendly. the staff in housekeeping, the shuttle and at the front desk were all friendly, and engaging. the rooms were very tidy, and clean, and lovely. the bed was entirely too comfortable. Well worth every penny, and then some! The dining in service was too high priced but town was close, and had plenty of excellent choices.

The Sherator is a lovely place to stay. My room was very clean and had the extra touch of multiple pillows. The atmosphere was quiet as well. My only complaint is the breakfast bar was a little overpriced. The food was good, though.

My wife and I were looking for a place to go to rest and restore from our busy schedules. This hotel is a bit out of the today's pace (old city) and we were very impressed. The rooms were mordern and very comfortable. The bed was better than my own. I especially enjoyed the pool and spa. There was a work-out room there too. However that was not for me that weekend. My stay was much needed. I rested well, ate well, slept well.I was not happy about parking. Being in the parking business (management) myself I thought the cost was a bit high and un-necessary. Parking was available all around the hotel and you would think that by providing the comfort & safety to out of towners would be a priority. However it did not dampen the spirit of our trip.
