| The hotel was a beautiful place in its time I'm sure. But the rooms need to be up dated and the general condition of the hotel needs to be maintained better. I hope that this magnificent piece of architecture is restored and saved. Would be a great place to hold an event, but for comfort and value there are better places to stay.

| The Belleview Biltmore has the potential to be phenomenal. It is dripping with history and has great golf, spa, and pool facilities. However, at least in the wing and room I stayed in, they badly need to renovate. My room was just "ooooold".

| This hotel was perfect for us. We have a four-year-old, and although I would not call this a typical "kid friendly" place, the indoor and outdoor pools were enough to keep him happy, and they weren't packed with other swimmers. This hotel also worked for us, because we took day trips "off site." It would not have been a good place to entertain a four-year-old for a week straight. Overall, a great stay.

| From the drive leading up to the hotel, I knew I was in for a special treat. The front desk and bellhop were quite friendly. Our room was not up to par, but with a call, it was taken care of and the upgrade was nice. the Cabana Grill was great for dining and drinks, while my son enjoyed the beach (A+). Room service and housekeeping were great, and the hotel is elegant, even though my son wanted something more modern, he was quite happy with all the services, i.e. ice cream palour and swimming pool. Close to the beach to enjoy it and be back to your room with no problem. Thanks Expedia and The Belleview Biltmore.

| Sadly, I could not in good conscience recommend the Belleview. Her future is so uncertain, and it would be a crime to see her torn down. However, it would be for that reason only that I hesitate to honestly say that our stay was disappointing. Historically, the hotel had incredible views; financial woes forced the sale of the waterfront areas for condominium construction which now obstruct them. You are not on the ocean (or really the International Waterway, since you cannot see it). And try as we did, we could not overlook the look and feel of the multicolored tarps nailed to and blowing from the huge roof system. The ambience was destroyed. The indoor pool was dark and its cleanliness appeared questionable. The main floor included incredible ballrooms, lobby areas, party rooms. The grounds were beautiful (if only those flapping multi-colored tarps did not blotch the scenery from both inside your room and out). We wish the Belleview our best. If it was restored completely and just one of the tall condominiums removed to restore just a little view, it could be amazing. As it now is, I would return only out of some call of support of charitable conscience, but not for pleasure. I'm sorry.

Although the rooms are a little small and in need of some maintenance you will find them quite comfortable. The beds are comfortable and give you a great sleep. The pool although in need of some repairs is very enjoyable and quite relaxing. The beach is only 10 minutes away. This is not the place to go if you want a lot of activity but if you want a quiet, simple and historical place to stay then this is the place for you

| The Biltmore may have been one of the greatest hotels in its day -- it is vast, it has majesty, it has history -- but all of that is limited to the first floor common area. Otherwise, it is one big repair, or should be. The majority of the roof is covered in tarps. Paint is chipped and needed in many places. The bathroom was downright skeevy -- tile mildew, rusted fixtures, shower/tub tiles falling out -- maintenance came our last day to check on a bathroom leak where a tile hole in the shower poured downstairs. And one dark hall of rooms was moldy from the beginning, and even moreso in the rooom we rejected. Finally, it is by far the most expensive, overpriced facility I have had this year in Florida, where rooms tend to be very reasonable. We would have rather paid the same, or more, and not been grossed out each time we took a shower. Even all of the wine glasses at the bar were dirty and smudged, or at least not clear. The public areas had great charm, and the staff was very helpful. But our stay was kind of like being in a stopped subway -- nothing you can do about it for now, so try not to get too stressed and make good use of your time until you move on.

| We rented five rooms at this hotel on a recent business trip. Its common areas are stunningly beautiful. But the hotel is over 100 years old and it appears that the rooms have not been remodeled since. All five of us asked to switch rooms, but we had to wait in line at the desk because there were several other hotel guests doing the same thing. We were all given suites, which were much larger, run down versions of the original. If anyone ever buys this property and puts money into it, the hotel could be beautiful. But for now, I'd find another hotel.

| I had an excellent experience at this hotel. It was charming. I loved the history. On the first afternoon when I check in I picked up a cup of coffee (the coffee & ice cream shop off of the lobby) and toured the lobby and public space of the hotel. I enjoyed reading about the history and viewing the relics. The restaurant had good basic food for dinner and was a relaxed environment. The room was rather large and had an generous bathroom and dressing area. The staff was very helpful and polite. I travel regularly for business (about 2 to 3 weeks per month) and it was so wonderful not to stay in the "standard" boring hotel room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! In fact, I called my parents during my stay to let them know the next time they are in the area to make reservations here! If you are a history buff and are tired of the same old hotel...stay here! The only time I would not recommend visiting this hotel is in July or August because the air conditioning is via window units and it is so hot in Florida during those months (97 degrees). Thank you Belleview Biltmore, wish you many years of continuing success!

| If you expect modern, perfectly pristine lodging, this isn't your hotel. If you appreciate the past and recognize that hotels that are over 100 years old will have certain shortcomings, give the Biltmore a try. The economy rooms are small, but comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. Guests who are history buffs, people with southern pride, or those who want a unique, memorable experience should give the resort a chance for at least a weekend.

| Our family looked forward to combining my business travel with a family trip during the holidays. The hotel was less than excellent. One of the features that interests our "athletic" family is a health club or workout facilities. The facilities here were seriously lacking. The stationary bikes were broken, there was no treadmill, and the stairclimber barely worked...hence NO REAL WORKOUT FACILITY, other than a Universal weight station.

| This is (as I am told) the largest wood built hotel in the world. It is a lovely hotel with the beauty and charm of a southern countryclub with wide hallways, high ceilings, coral pillars and wooden floors. The rooms have multiple walk-in closets, plenty of room, and 10ft (at least) high ceilings. Although the hotel is very well cleaned, it is however, in desperate need of a face lift;i.e. new beds, paint, and room carpet. Aslo, they allow pets wich is an enormous 'pet' peave of mine due to alleries. All-in-all, a good stay/value.

| The Belleview Biltmore is very impressive on the exterior but the interior is in shambles. It is a beautiful building that has been eaten away with neglect. The rooms are dirty, musty, and very old. One patron changed rooms 3 times. In one room the window pane actually fell out.I understand that there was discussion regarding tearing the building down, unfortunately that action seems appropriate.

| The hotel roof had sustained severe damage from recent storms. We were told by our driver that the summer 2004 season would most likely be the last for the Belleview Biltmore as funding was not adequate to do needed renovations--and as we discovered, to bring the facility up to code (ie: posted elevator inspections/certificates were expired). It truly appeared that since they were closing soon it didn't matter enough to keep the place up. However, we could see that in its day, the Belleview Biltmore had been a gorgeous estate.

| Lots of little things annoyed us on this trip (not enough front desk staff, odd doorman/valet scheduling, poor stocking of poolside towels even if the pool was a bit too cold to swim in) but the grandeur of what the hotel must have been was still appealing. All in all I liked the place and would probably recommend it, but there was just something about it that didn't sit right either. I feel like it could be managed better, but maybe the expanse of the facility hurts it.I'd go back and I'd recommend it, but with qualifiers. I could see where some of the negative complaints come from but I still liked it. If you're going, be sure to check out the spa.

| The Belleview Biltmoe is a turn of the 20th Century hotel that is listed on the national historic buildings list.It is one of the grande old dates located just south of Clearwater, FL. The hotel is located inland, but has a recently added facility on the beach (Gulf of Mexico). There is a shuttle the runs through out the day to the beach. The beach also has a top of line restaurant and place you can order beach food during the day. The hotel also runs a very nice 18 hole golf course about 1 mile from the hotel which has very reasonable prices for hotel guests. The hotel shuttle can take you there and back. The hotel itself incurred roof damage from the series of hurricanes that passed through the area this past summer that has not been repaired when we were there. My sons used the work out area and said there was enough equipment to keep them busy, but it was not a top of the line work out area. Both indoor and out door pools/hot tubs. The local grill is acceptable but there are much better places to each outside of the hotel property and not that far away. If coming to the hotel I would strongly recommend having access to a car since it will give you the flexibility you will want. There are rumors in the local papers that the hotel may be going on the market and/or demolished. DWC

| The oldest and largest wooden building in the the world, this hotel is a Victorian classic. Not surprisingly, the Biltmore is rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of former hotel guests! This grand hotel offers many of life's simple pleasures including Maisie's old-fashioned, ice cream parlor, where you can enjoy complimentary morning coffee and a daily newspaper. There are scenic grounds to stroll upon at any time of day. Guided tours are offered daily. The historical hotel property is skirted by Florida's oldest golf course. The delightfully decorated Elipse Spa offers a wide range of pampering wraps, rubs and beauty treatments. Indoor and outdoor pools are also inviting. If you are seeking sun and sea, the Gulf of Mexico is just minutes away. Also nearby, there are wonderful restaurants, shopping to any-sized budget, as well as public access to several beautiful beaches along Sand Key. An absolute delight!

| This hotel is in a beautiful, upscale neighborhood that is convenient to many areas. However, the hotel is old and really showing its age. An employee there told us that it may be sold to a real estate developer, and then demolished to build a housing development. This may explain why sufficient money is not being put into its maintenance.

| My husband and I planned a long weekend getaway, Oct. 28-31, 2004. At the last minute, our hotel had to be changed to be Belleview Biltmore. When we read the online comments of previous guests we were concerned about staying there. I called and spoke with the manager on duty. I was assured that there wouldn't be any problems, and the manager was aware of the reviews. We have nothing but applause for the service, staff courtesy, accommodations, and atmosphere. Perhaps the people who wrote negative comments don't appreciate historic buildings and the atmosphere of a bygone era. Yes, there were humidifiers and wires in the hallway, but that was necessary after the hurricanes to preserve the wooden structure. The roof was in the process of being replaced, so call and speak to a manager if you have concerns. It certainly has an elegance that can't be found in cookie cutter hotels. We had a junior suite which was very spacious and charming. The high ceilings and tall windows only added to the feeling of being part of the wonderful past.
