| The hotel's location worked very well for my needs. Having a full kitchen is useful for eating in. The buffet breakfast was nothing special. The room was too small for the number of guests. Too crowded at the single entrance door. Only six tables for seating with four chairs each. The staff breakfast room was larger with banquet tables and more chairs. The hotel should reopen the restaurant for breakfast or provide a second breakfast room. Two buildings of equal size but only one small breakfast room is inadequate.

| This hotel is in a pretty accessible location, but that's the best remark I can make. It's old, the rooms look like something from the sixties, and it is in dire need of renovation. You have to pay $28 to park in the hotel garage, which is so small that the front desk must keep a copy of your key so that every time someone needs to leave, they move your car. There is free breakfast, but there are two entrances to the hotel, so depending on what side you get, you have to walk about 2 miles just to get the breakfast, so it ends up not being worth it for some cold muffins and a cup of juice. Would not recommend this hotel to my dog.

| The State Plaza Hotel was, quite frankly, a surprise; a very pleasant one! The location was great (3 blocks from Constitution Ave. and all the memorials); the room was clean, very nicely laid out and appointed; the kitchen (not kitchenette- kitchen!) was well stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils and cookware and completely applianced (only exception was a microwave) and they did the dishes! The best part of the stay was the staff. Everyone, from the guy who washed down the garage everyday to the bellman who got us a great parking spot to the front desk staff, was very friendly and helpful. We asked about places to eat nearby; they gave us a list of recommended places and a couple of menus. One even had coupons attached! We asked for extra towels on our way past the desk one evening; the man was at our room waiting for us when we got there. We booked our stay at the State Plaza because it was the cheapest one in the area we wanted to stay (near the memorials and other sites so we wouldn't have to drive). But if we go back to Washington again, we will book our stay there again because we had a very pleasant stay!

| The only problem I had was that the ventilation system in the bathroom was awful. There was a constant foul smell in the bathroom 24 hours a day--sometimes very strong (perhaps my neighbor was using it). Very unpleasant. I have travelled to many hotels in many countries, this is the first time I stayed in a hotel this hopeless.

| This hotel is very conveniently located for my work, thus I am willing to stay there regularly. The sleeping arrangements are fine; the kitchen and bathroom fixtures all work but are nothing fancy. The 'fitness center' is a joke and, to my mind, the hotel should either invest in a significant upgrade or get rid of it. The in-house restaurant has been 'closed for renovations' for at least a year with no sign of activity. Supposedly a contract for the renovation has now been signed. As there are few eating establishments close by, that has been a negative.

| I was really impressed with this hotel. You get a lot for your money. Large room with two double beds, dresser area, bathroom and kitchen. Clean and in good condition. Good location in easy walking distance of the Lincoln Memorial and that end of the Mall, as well as the White House. Taxis into Downtown or anywhere further were reasonably cheap although many of the taxi drivers seemed unsure of where it was so make sure you know the address. Breakfast was nothing exciting but served the purpose if you wanted to eat in the hotel first thing. There is a subway stop reasonably near but we only used it one day getting to and from the Pentagon City mall, otherwise we walked or took taxis.

| This was our first trip to Washington DC. We were pretty unsure about the placement of things but ended up very happy. Everything except the museums are in easy walking distance. The Museums are a much longer walk but well worth it. You will be sick of Subway by the end of the trip though if you have it for dinner. There are a few places that deliver to the hotel, the Chinese place was ok but not worth it. I liked how they offered recommendations for places to eat and maps of the area. Since our flight got into the Hotel early, they held our luggage free of charge until we checked in later. I felt extremely safe in their hotel. The staff was very friendly. The room was more than big enough for two people. The maids kept it spotless and everything filled. They even gave us a shoemitten which we thought was funny. A great assest was the kitched. With working amenities like that, it made the hotel more homelike. I would definately stay there again even though the breakfast was bad. haha

| The hotel lobby and hallways seemed to be clean and in good shape. The room itself was a bit older and rattier. Not unkempt or in disrepair, just a bit older. The kitchen would be really nice for a family or a longer stay, with a fridge, range, sink, and even some basic kitchen utensils. The location was just ok. For GWU, it's perfect. It's walking distance to the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, and White House. The Washington Monument, Smithsonium museums and Capitol are a bit more of a hike. And unfortunately, other than a Starbucks and Subway, there are no eating places really close- at least a 10-15 minute walk. For the price, I'd say it's worth it, because the other hotels I located, while in a better spot, usually downtown, were much more expensive. If you are looking for a luxury hotel however, this is not it.

| This hotel is right by GWU and within walking distance to White House and monuments. I was impressed with the suite - large room, kitchen, parlor outside bathroom. Yes, the hotel is dated and in two buildings but it is not a bad place to stay. Also, the service was top notch - from getting a cab to the friendly staff to how well the room (and dishes) was cleaned each day. If you want to be able to stay in DC and stay on-budget, this is the place for you!

| I went here for a one day conference in DC and stayed for two nights. It was very comfortable, quiet, and spacious. It is certainly no-frills, and the service is pretty bland. I found it to be well-located, well-priced for DC, and a good choice for someone going to DC for business. It is very home-like, with a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom, a couple of TVs with good cable. I would recommend it.

| I have stayed at the State Plaza for years and this was the first time I have been disappointed. The restaurant downstairs is closed, there is no room service, one of the beds had an unsightly stain on the comforter, the air was overscented, and the bathroom smelled as if it had not been thoroughly cleaned. I will find another hotel in D.C. for future business and leisure plans.

| It is probably a good hotel on most days, but my experience was miserable. Reserve a room on the lower floors. When I checked in, my instructions were to walk all the way down the hallway, go out the door, across the driveway, through the parking garage, into the next building, go to the end of the hallway, and then take the elevator to the 7th floor. This elevator must be powered by hamsters because it takes a full 45 seconds to get to the 7th floor, assuming that there are no stops along the way. When I went to my room, the door was already open and some maintenance guy was pulling the microwave out of the wall. I went back to my vehicle to park it in the garage. When I came back to my room, the key did not work. So, I had another 5 to 10 minute round trip walk to the front desk. Then I try to hook up to the internet. No Ethernet cable. Back to the front desk. As soon as I get back to my room, I get a phone call: sir, you need to move your vehicle. Nobody is allowed to park in the north garage tonight. As it turns out, that is where they told me to park when I checked in. Back to the front desk, where I am told to drive around the building, waiting for traffic at every intersection, and park in an even darker, damper, more cramped garage. It was like I was at work and they were the guests. Aside from me doing more work than any of the people employed at the hotel during my stay, the location is great and the room is pretty big.

| We found the State Plaza to be clean, well-located and very comfortable. There were two adults and two children in the room, so we appreciated the amount of space we had. It was a bit "1950ish," but color and design of the bathroom tile is of little importance. The room was clean, the mattresses firm, the staff courteous and helpful. We'd definitely stay there again.

| This is a great hotel for a family to stay. There's alot of room to spread out and you can use the kitchen to cook (ask for a microwave). I appreciated the separate dressing room with a vanity. The room was clean and we loved the original "vintage" tile and decor. The beds were very comfortable. The location is great - safe neighborhood and around George Washington University. Continental breakfast is pastries, fruit, juice and coffee. Staff very helpful. Would definitely stay again.
