My family of 11 adults and 3 children stayed for one week. The service surpased my expectations. Most reviews said the serivce took hours. I called twice to replace light bulbs in seperate rooms and the problem was fixed within 15 minutes. My rooms were clean and ready when I arrived. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is broken into sections. There are pools and fountains everywhere. Even when it was packed you could still find a pool with no one at it. Massages were $35USD for 80 minutes. Need I say more. The ocean front rooms were very nice but the beds were hard. The cleanliness was good for Mexico. It is not the US - there will still be some specs of dirt after they clean. The resturant Bogarts was spectatcular! The food delicous, service was beyond anything I have experinced before. All the women were given lush pillows to put under their feet while they ate! It was crazy the differnce it made in comfort. This is a must. On tuesday night there is a buy one meal get one free special from 6-7pm due to the mexican feista at the hotel. Over all I enjoyed myself. A fre dollars for a taxi to downtown or the airport. Walmart and Sams club two mintues away. Location was great. No qualms with this hotel. If you are looking for luxury. This is not it. Very nice but not luxury.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. They have a great pool and excellent service at the pool although, we booked an ocean view room which they didn't have any available when we arrived. They brushed it off like it was no big deal. I expressed to the manager we paid extra for the ocean view room and then they knew that had to do something. We ended up waiting for 4 hours for a room, but they ended up putting us in one of their suites, which I believe was one of their time shares. We had a big suite with our own private pool. The only bad thing was, this suite was very very run down. It need alot of maintaince. We over looked the maintaince issues, since we didn't spend much time in our room anyway. The front desk staff is very very slow and they don't speak very good english. Good Luck! Oh, and the beds are as hard as a rock. You might want to bring a foam pad if you don't like a hard bed. The pillows also feel like you are sleeping on a big sack of flour. On our last night, the spa owner approaced my husband and I for a couples massage, two 75 minute massages for $60.00, which was wonderful!!! It made the entire hotel ordeal seam much much better. I think if we ever go back to Puerto Vallarta, I don't think we would stay in this hotel again. It's ok, but just really old and needs maintaince.

This was our second trip to Puerto Vallarta. This is the first time we stayed at the NH Krstal. It was a fantastic hotel. It's located right on the beach and has great swimming pools overlooking the ocean. The front desk was very helpful and all spoke perfect english. It has a very old style Mexican theme, and is full of wonderful landscaping.

The pools and view were nice. The hotel had a nice old style mexican style but the general maintenance was poor. The beds were very poor especially the mattress...hard We were fairly happy about the proximity to old town vallarta so we didn't spend much time at the hotel other than the pool. The breakfast was more expensive but the buffet style served children well.

My sister and I (25 and 23 yrs. old) stayed here for 6 nights in April and would return in a heartbeat. The resort looks like an authentic Mexican village, which makes it very unique and beautiful. Fountains are around every corner, which enhance the resort's beauty. The resort offers everything from choice of pools, bars, restaurants, day/night activities, excellent food - well worth the all-inclusive, and all of this is surrounded by a very friendly staff. The grounds are well-maintained, the pools are clean, rooms are bug-free, and everything is very peaceful. Good place for families, singles wanting to have fun, place to have a wedding, or honeymooners. The one downfall was the beds were a bit hard, but overall this resort exceeded our expectations and we will return!

It is not a luxury resort but a nice family resort. The kids enjoyed it, but if you are looking for an exclusive place, this is not it. They open the place up to transients who obtain day passes, as well as to cruise ship passengers, so it takes away your privacy and exclusivity. You also compete with the transients for pool lounge chairs which is not fair. The beds are way too hard. The food is good. There are not enough bars. Only pool bars. We had the all inclusive which worked out well for us. There is not enough to do on the resort so you need to arrange for day trips, snorkling, or just rent a car and go into town. For dinner, they offer a buffet in the main area and two restaurants on location which require a reservation, but they have limited menus. If you go off the menu, you can pay for side dishes, or pay $20 and order off the house menu (which at Bogarts is excellent...a lot of flaming dishes). Not enough dinner choices on location. Not enough activities for kids on location. The concierge service is a joke. Everyone is trying to sell you a time share and the prices are jacked up compared to buying it on your own (they get a cut of the action). All and all it was nice, but lacked in several areas.

Only to say that I think this Hotel could be great for family with childrens due all the garden they have; however, there is no much to do with children there, I mean that if they have the oportunity with this target, they would have to developed. I didn't go with children, and I though I would not come back because I think there is a lot to do in terms of maintenance, thinking that is not a chip hotel, it would have to be very good on this. On the other hand, I didn't like that boat/cruiser that came to Puerto Vallarta, they had the option to spend the day in the Hotel, which make the hotel full of people and not very clean. I think they have an oportunity with families if they do much more maintenance and they focuse on families with children. On the other hand, their menu have for the pool, fat stuff and they didn't have like fruit and other light food.

On a timeshare exchange, we got 2 units. Our friends were immediately put off by a fishy odor in their unit. They requested another room the next morning and were promptly moved. These timeshare rooms are old, but clean. The beds are hard, but a thick pad will be provided on request. Spent an additional night in their Villa Hotel rooms. They are not as clean as the timeshare units, gritty floors. The food at the big restaurant was okay, but we preferred dining downtown. Be careful charging resort meals to your room. They automatically add a tip onto your bill. We tried Bogarts and it was everything we expected, and more. Would skip the Fiesta, it was rather corny, but okay for kids. The pools and public areas are clean and well-maintained. Although we were not traveling with children, this resort seems ideal for families. The staff was helpful and courteous. Loved the layout of the resort. It has a real Old Mexico Atmosphere with its cobbled roads and pathways. Be careful walking, though, as some of these are worn and can be treacherous. Be sure to indulge on a massage. An excellent treatment, and a great value (wish I had taken advantage of it more than once!). Nice clean beach with plenty of lounge chairs and palapas for shade. The local handicraft sellers on the beach were a nuisance to some, but I thought they were charming. Overall, I thought this was a great resort with lots of charm. I would go back there, but life is short and there are lots of other places to see.

As our second year of vacationing in Puerto Vallarta we really enjoyed our stay at the Krystal. The location is wonderful, close to the city and Marina which are different, yet both dynamic locations to visit. We decided not to do an all inclusive plan which was a great decision, as we took many day trips which we all enjoyed. The people, prices, and history of this beautiful city will keep us coming back for years. I can't say I have any negative thoughts or comments about vacationing in this wonderful town. Yes... some of the standards might not parallel ours in the states but many of theirs exceed ours so it's a "wash" as far as I'm concerned.

The hotel is definately old but charming. The layout takes some time getting around since it is set up like a small town instead of your run of the mill hotel. A few problems in this layout is that there are plenty of large areas for people to congregate. Try several nights of 18 year old american kids drinking and yelling...wasn't too good to sleep in. The hotel seems to thrive on the younger "party weekend" business and they cater them at the expense of other guests. The checkout process took near an hour, as they had someone go check your minibar expense list before the ONE person working the checkout desk waited. Not bad overall, but I have had much better service and rest at other area hotels.

Wow, what to say.....This hotel is beautiful. The beach is nice and water is very pretty. We did the all inclusive and had as much to drink as we wanted! We all had a great time. The buffet is very good, nice selection of different foods every nite. We made reservations at Bogarts and were very impressed at the food there. 3 menu items per person and drinks all included for free. I am surprised at the bad reviews for this hotel.....because we all just loved it! The beds are not the comfiest, but I have heard most are that way in Mexico. The service is awesome and we will be going back next year for sure!!!!!

This place is a dump, especially for the outrageous rate we paid. The grounds and pools were very nice but the room itself was dirty, needed maintenance, and wasn't even ready until 3 hours after check-in time. The line of people complaining was almost as long as the check-in line we waited in for 55 minutes and no one was compensated for anything.

We had never been to PV before, and wasnt sure where to stay. Upon arrival, the service was immediately impeccable. The staff was friendly and very helpful; the entry/hotel lobby was so georgous we just walked around and looked for a few minutes. My grandson is disabled, and the staff was very accomodating, making sure of his comfort and offering information regarding things outside of the resort. The grounds were very well kept, as was our room, (we stayed in the Krystal Ocean section), and the view was beautiful. Our beds, even for my brother with a bad neck, were soooo comfortable! We slept well. The food was great in the restaurants on site, but a little family owned restaurant across the street and to your left about 50 yards or more was also verrry good! And less pricey. I would love to go back!

Positive feedback ----------------- 1. The ambience of a mexican village is fascinating. 2. We were treated to a continental breakfast every morning which was reasonably good, followed by afternoon happy hours. We didn't sign up for an all-inclusive package. 3. The swimming pools and jaccuzis have ample room and are well maintained. Negative feedback ------------------ 1. Room service is very slow. They clean the room between 3pm - 4pm, sometimes even later. 2. Hard matresses may cause back pain after a night sleep. 3. High ocean waves rock the 3rd floor room. It may feel like going through small earthquakes.

We booked our stay at the NH Krystal on somewhat of short notice. The internet pictures looked nice and the price was right, but after diging further we started reading some really bad reviews, we got real worried. I am pleased to say that we had a great stay at the NH Krystal. The grounds are beautiful, the main pool is great and the beach is realy nice. Is it a 5 star resort, no, but it was more than adequate. Our room was clean and the staff attentive. The restaurants on premises were really good, especially Kamkura, the Japanese restaurant, we did not eat at Bogarts, but heard nothing but rave reviews about it. The beach vendors did get old, but a simple "no, gracias" sent them on their way. We heard alot about rude staff, we didn;t experience it. My advice when reading reviews; People who write good reviews are being sincere, people who write really scathing reviews probably are hard to please in the first place.

Nice place to stay. A couple of decent restaurants on site. The Villas with the private plunge pools were really nice--very private. "Welcome Packages" are really 1 1/2 hour condo sales presentations promising "discounts" on massages, etc. at the hotel. Many people tried to give us the "welcome here" and this was tiresome. As it turns out, if you pay cash, 1 hour and 15 minute massage is only $33, the "discount" after an hour and a half painful presentation winds up being $2 off and a free breakfast.

NH Krystal Vallarta is an older property that is very well maintained, and the people who work there make your stay worth while. We stayed in building 2, however we were showed the new addition to the hotel that overlooks the ocean. It's a great place to stay, although the beds were very hard. Other than that, you can lounge by the pools and order drinks or food from the bar and conveniently charge it to your room, or just relax in the giant pool area that overlooks the ocean. It's a breathtaking view from the 7 pillars! I'll be booking soon just so I can return for the most heavenly massage at the on site spa. It's the best 1hr plus massage for $35 US!
