I was very disappointed with this hotel. It was rated as a 3-star hotel but it's not a 3-star. I would give it a 1 or 2 star when comparing to other 3-star hotels such as those found in Las Vegas. The best thing this hotel has going for it is it's location near the enterance to the south rim of the grand canyon - that's it.

The Quality Inn at Grand Canyon in Tusayan was decent for the location and money. The restaurant was decent, bar was nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable and it right next to the Imax theater and only a couple miles from the park entrance.

Hotel is set back from the street and the sign isn't easy to spot as we drove by it and had to come back. Also the sign doesn't indicate that it is the Canyon Plaza-just Quality Inn.

This hotel would not be able to command anything close to the rates charged if it were located anywhere else. I travel rather frequently and for the quality of the room I would have expected to pay MUCH less even with the discount we got by pre-paying for our stay. The front desk staff were very helpful. The hotel lobby is deceptively nice. The "free" breakfast is continental. If you want the breakfast buffet that will cost $6 per person. The view from our bedroom window was of the backyard of someone who decided to collect "used" cars. If I were going to assign a star rating - about two.

The hotel was perfectly located, the staff was polite and professional and the breakfast ($6/each for optional hot buffet) was an exceptional value. I couldn't have asked for more for the price. Resort towns are nearly always expensive. When we arrived at the Grand Canyon the weather turned unexpectedly bad and started to snow. We had no cold weather clothes and I was expecting it to cost me a fortune for coats. To my surprise, the hotel gift shop was well stocked with beautiful cold weather gear at prices beating even that big retail discount store half of America shops at. What a wonderful surprise! As a matter of fact, the entire town was this way which left us with warm memories of our stay despite the weather!

The room was clean and comfortable, though a little worn. The staff was helpful and friendly with the exception of the inattentive coffee-serving waiters at breakfast, who were continuously having noisy fun among themselves, paying little attention to the guests and pouring coffee in a careless way. The complimentary breakfast was acceptable but by no means good.

Stayed at the Quality Plaza during Memorial Day weekend. It was really nice. It's within walking distance to the Visitor's Center, gas station, Native American market, IMAX, etc. My room had an inside (leading to the hallway) door, as well as one that opened up towards the pool. The complementary breakfast has a very wide selection of food and drinks. The bed had a pillowtop mattress, and about 10 pillows and a down comfortor - very relaxing. Overall a great night's stay (no fridge though).

If you're looking for a place to be pampered, then go someplace else. With clean rooms and prompt maid service, the Canyon Plaza Quality Inn was a good place to rest after long days of hiking in the Grand Canyon. You can't get any closer to the park without staying in it, so the location is very good. The hotel is within walking distance of the National Geographic visitor center, general store, and internet cafe. The only downside was the breakfast buffet which was a little bare, unless you want to pay the extra $6 per person for the hot buffet, which also had a meagre offering.

The hotel was the closest to the Grand Canyon and so it was very convenient for us to come and go during our stay. However, the hotel does a lot of tour business and we were unfortunately put in a room near where the tour buses park. You could hear the talking, transferring of luggage, etc. The buses would start their motors early in the morning and then leave their motors running for extended periods of time. Next time, I would request to be placed in another part of the hotel. This might be worth mentioning when booking a reservation. The restaurant had a pricy menu for a light snack only, but the free continental breakfast definitely saved a few dollars, so it was a tradeoff I guess.
