incredible experience. I love kimpton hotels, the monaco on the same block is also as nice. they give you a paper in the morning and everyone there is happy to be working there. the tenderloin/union square proximity to me is a plus, to some it may be a negative as there are a lot of panhandlers.

I enjoyed the fact that the outside noise was minimal. I have stayed at several hotels near Union Square and the noise level was atrocious. The Serrano has an extra window pane that reduces the noise drastically and I was able to sleep at night!!

The hotel staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was clean. It's located pretty close to some little diner's and deli's for breakfast or a late night snack. One of the reason's we originally picked this hotel was for the free internet!

The Serrano was a great place to stay, and I would definitely return. It was within easy walking distance to Union Square, and I even walked down to the Ferry Terminal and Embarcadero Center. Close to China Town, also. The room was very tastefully done, and, although small, provided every comfort. It was so cozy. I loved the Aveda products in the bathroom. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The game tables in the lobby were a nice touch. Very reasonably priced for such a wonderful location.

This is a great hotel. The only part I wasn't impressed with is that they made no mention of the fact that parking was nearly $40/night. That would have made a significant impact on my decision to stay at the Serrano. Most hotels indicate parking charges so you can make a decision based on the full picture. I felt a little mislead.

This hotel is a real value for the money. It is a small botique hotel that is well located in the business district. The rooms are beautifully decorated and well maintained. My only concern would be the small size of the bathroom. It is limited by the layout and couldn't be enlarged, but there is little room for your toiletries, let alone extra room for you.

I've recently discovered these charming boutique hotels with their eclectic decor and stylish amenities. The selling point, however, is how wonderfully the staff makes the traveler feel! I've stayed in a lot of hotels and nowhere does everyone from the desk staff to the bellmen to the bartendars in the restaurant make you feel so welcomed and special. These hotels and their staff deserve high marks.

Hotel has a beautiful lobby and friendly staff but our room was very disappointing. There was mold on one wall and refrigerator that made so much noise during the night it woke my husband up twice and he usually sleeps through everything. They were sold out and we got a room right next to the elevator - we could hear that too!

The pictures of the Serrano on the website suggest an elegant, historic hotel with large, luxurious rooms. These were the primary reasons for trying the Serrano. What we found was a very old hotel, located on the edge of a seedy neighborhood, with very small rooms. The service was great however and the staff very pleasant and helpful. Next trip we will try a better location.

Our stay at the Serrano was wonderful. I'm fairly picky about hotels, particularly with regard to cleanliness. Not an issue here. The building is clearly older, and the rooms are a bit small, but I guess that's what a "Boutique Hotel" is. However the lobby, elelvators, hallways, and our room were all very well maintianed. I was very, very comfortable. They offer free coffee and tea in the mornings, and wine in the evening in the hotel lobby, and it was great fun to socailize with some of the other hotel guests. And the restaraunt Ponzu! I have been generally skeptical about of a lot of the new asian-fusion cuisine, but Ponzu has broadened my mind. We usually try to avoid the hotel restaraunt in our travel, but this time we couldn't pull ourselves away. Staff was helpful, warm and very freindly, and the concierge Stephan helped us with all of out tour arrangements.All-in-all, a wonderful stay. Thank you Serrano!!
