The Patro Palace hotel is just an ok tourist hotel with many groups; the rooms are small and not that nice, and it was poor value. Dreary breakfast room, but free and fast internet in a little business center. But the hotel has a great location a very short walk from the Hermitage, and is recommnedable for that.

This hotel is overpriced for the quality provided I was very diappointed that when I asked for a room with a double bed, that I was provided with two single beds instead. Double-bed linen could have been provided to help address this, but instead each single bed had separate linen, comforters and bed-spreads. The window needed mosquito acreening. I was diappointed the in-room dining was not available for the (expensive) price of this hotel room. Like nearly all such hotels, the mini-bars supplyies were significantly over-priced. I had trouble with the in-room TV movies, and was not compensated for the two movies which stalled 2/3 to 3/4 of the wat through the film ... this was very annoying On the plus side, service was good, efficient, and pleasant. But given a choice, I would not stay at this hotel again.

i spent several days online reading reviews of st. petersburg hotels. i chose the petro palace because of its good reviews and location. i felt the negative reviews could be discounted as personal preference. we arrived in st. petersburg to pouring rain, took a taxi to the hotel and were treated fabulously by the staff as they efficiently checked our parties in, while we dripped water onto the floor. we had requested a roll-away bed for one room, it was delivered before we got off the elevator. the breakfast buffet was excellent, the variety and quality of foods more than what we had expected. no request, however large, was treated with anything but a "can do" attitude. my daughter-in-law was sick during the trip and the hotel staff allowed us to keep our room for five hours past checkout time (at no additional cost!!!!)so she could rest before our train departure at 6:30 p.m., returning to moscow. i can not express our appreciation for the cheerful attitudes displayed by everyone at the hotel. i have lived in moscow for 1 1/2 years and have heard all the "unfriendly russian" stories. none of them work at the petro palace. we are moving back to the united states next month, but if we ever have the privilege to visit st. petersburg's beautiful sights again, we will most assuredly book a room at the petro palace. p.s. there are very few "unfriendly russians", you get back what you give!

This hotel is in the middle of where you want to be.. within walking distance of Hermitage Museum, The Square, St. Issac's, and a number of other sites and parks. Breakfast is included and nice, with fitness area and pool (although both rather small). Pool tables and nice restaurant. Friendly staff and all recently new (2005). I would definately stay here again. Prices are reasonable and the location simply cannot be beat.

Everything about the Petro Palace was great with two exceptions. My room was next to the maid's work room and they woke me each morning when they came in to work. Also, the window does not open and I found the temperature a bit warm. That said, the location is excellent, service wonderful, and the hotel is very beautifully appointed and shiny new.

This is really a great central location for seeing the sights of St. Petersburg. The Hermitage, one of the greatest musuems, is within walking distance. It is also just a one block walk to Nevesky Prospect, the main avenue from the airport. Nevesky is filled with wonderful shops and stores and is a great experience just to window shop. The staff is very attentive and the accomodations are top notch. The pool and fitness facilities are excellent and are included with the accomodations for morning use. While the breakfast buffet is complete from the perspective of a European traveler, as an American I would have enjoyed some bacon or ham. I would have also enjoyed the opportunity to make an omlet for myself but don't let my tastes sway your decision. The breakfast buffet was extensive with fruit salads, fresh vegetables, oatmeal, scambled and hard boiled eggs, breads, pastries and salmon. Of course there are also juices, tea and coffee. The service of the room was absolutely flawless, everything was polished each day. I have traveled a great deal and I was completely impressed with the cleaniness in the entire hotel, not just my room. I would recommend this as one of the finest accommodations in the St. Pete area and also the best value for the price. I have stayed at some of the others with my wife who is Russian and from St. Pete. This has been our best choice ever. Enjoy your stay!
