| My family and I spent 9 days at the RIU. The hotel beach and pools are lovely. We stayed on the "suite" side of the hotel. Our rooms were comfortable and every day we came back to find lovely clean rooms with beautiful towel creations, sprinkled with fresh flowers on our beds. The food was varied and plentiful. However the line for the al-a-carte restaurants was a pain. To ensure having any chance of booking your prefered restaurant you need to be in line by 5.45am. One lady I spoke with had been in line since 3.15am to book a table at Sir Richards! Take US dollars only, everywhere and everyone asks for them. Take plenty of $1's for tipping, we took $200 and used them all. The staff are all very grateful, they work very hard. All in all a nice hotel and very relaxing vacation.

| We visit the carribean each summer, we must say this was one of our best picks becasue the of beauty of the hotel and beach and hospitality of the staff (ie: maids, bartenders, servers) outweighed the not so pleasant matters mentioned below. Many of the the reviews we read before leaving came to fruition. Reserving for dinner was a nightmare people arose at 4-5 a.m. to do so. The air conditioning in our room did not operate properly during our whole stay even after repeated calls. Front desk was not as responsive as they should have been. Shuttle service for area attractions would have been nice. We must say the inclusive menu and entertainment got a little old after day 3. Overall with the above caveats, given the value, ambience and price go for it

| We were very pleased with our stay at this resort. The resort is brand new and, from what we were told, opened just about 6 months ago. Therefore, everything is in excellent condition--no wear and tear. Though this is a large capacity resort public areas were not crowded. The beach is beautiful and well-kept and there is an ample number of lounge chairs on both the beach and near the pools. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the mattress was too hard for my personal taste. I was concerned about the food after reading previous reviews. The buffets offered a great selection for all tastes. Some dishes were tastier than others but you definitely will not starve!

| This was a delightful and wonderful experience for me and my huband. Great hotel staff, plenty of activities to do daily at the hotel and on the beach. I even won playing the slots in the casino! The food was delicious at the sit down retaurant, well worth getting up early to make the reservations. The food was rather bland at the buffets, but still good just not spicy enough for us. We are already planning for our stay again next summer. Would recommend in a heart beat. Ya Mon!

| Newest and largest resort in Jamaica, deserves more than 3 and 1/2 stars! While small details (not the most efficient staff, no a/c in elevators) make it less than perfect you'd be hard pressed to find a better vacation for the money for family or newlyweds. If all you want are McDonald's burgers... stay home, otherwise it's impossible not to find good food in one of the 7 or so restaurants. Didn't care much for having to wait in line at 6am to catch a reservation at one of the non-buffet restaurants but really there's no need to. Don't forget to tip the bartenders!

| For the money, my family and I felt that this resort met our basic expectations. The pools were very clean and we did not have a problem finding lounge chairs! As far as the food was concerned, we felt that having to get up around 5:45am to stand in line to make reservations was ridiculous! The restaurant food was very average and not worth standing in line for and the buffet lacked variety and favor. The best thing about the resort was its location and the staff. We were centrally located to all of our excursions such as Dunn's River Falls, canopy tour, river tubing, and shopping district. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall, for the price, we would return to the resort if they made changes recommended by its guests!

All in all, it is a good value with friendly service.

| My husband and I recently stayed at Riu in Ochos Rios (6/12-6/18/06)and there were a few issues.First of all, our fridge in our room was never restocked past the first day we were there. We patiently waited for the "every 2 days" restocking but it never happened. Finally we went to the front desk at 7pm on 6/16 to ask for diet pepsi in the room. The front desk said they would take care of it. Ended up calling 5 more time between Friday night and Sat. anf finally received it at 7pm-the night before we left. I could see if we were drinking cases of beer but this is diet soda! Also- our sheets were never changes (same dirt/stain on sheet as when we checked in, no face cloths or hand towels until Wed, pillowcases left on door in a plastic bag. Also- for a supposedly "4 star" hotel, I was shocked on all the english misspellings not only on the info booklet in the room, the plastic "Riu" hotel drink list but also on every menu for each restaurant. For a hotel corporation, I would think the marketing department would check the spelling so you could look professional? Last but not least- on the pasta station in St. Anns- how unappetizing was it to see the chef clean each frypan with toilet paper and then have to scrape off the paper with a spatula? I would think when you cook in a station that guest can see and interact with, one would use something other than a roll of toilet paper to clean pans with.

My wife has already decided to invite friends to come with us next year. The food is the only short-fall. It is plentious, but is not unique. I expected to have jerk chicken running out of my ears, but never had any. Breakfast is good, but the other meals are mediocre. Everything else was great.

| The hotel itself was very nice, the beach was very beautiful, the room was very comfortable, the pools were nice (swim-up bar), chicken from the Jerk Hut was delicious, and the shows were very great. But!! The food was very poorly prepared, No Flavor! Me and my wife got so sick from something that it took 5 days to get well once back in the U.S.. We didn't seek medication and get diagnosed, so I don't want to scream food poision without had having medical attention, but Beware!! Take plenty of Imodium A.D.. All the alcohol that is served is Jamaican, and it sucks!! Although!! They do serve Jim Beam in the bar at the shows. Also the glasses they serve you alcohol in is no bigger than a sippy cup, so if you do come here bring a big gulp cup because they will fill it up for you. And the worst part of the stay is the locals that harass you while you're trying to enjoy your vacation. Please be aware, the taxi ride to the resort takes an average of one hour and forty five minutes and cost $100.00 to get there. Besides all this, it rained the first 5 days (June is the rainy season).

| My stay at Riu Ocho Rios exceeded everything I could have hoped for. It's by far the most beautiful place I've ever stayed. The food is wonderful and the the activities have something for everyone: aerobics and reggae dance lessons on the beach, easy access to the waterfall nearby and the treetop canopy tour (not to be missed) via the tours buses you can schedule, and fun classes for kids and for teens. Although the all-inclusive feature means there are lots of people enjoying the pool (and other) bars and disco, it's also very family friendly. The staff is friendly and efficient. Just be sure to get a $20 shuttle from the airport, don't take a $100 taxi!

| I had TWO weddings to attend in Ocho Rios, so I decided to do stay in different places both times to mix it up. I stayed here the first time, and when I got home immediately changed my second reservation. So I am staying at RIU twice in two months! The service was professional and very friendly without being pushy, and the property was Amazing. Beautiful. I have never been sooo relaxed in my life. The food was very bland, but it was okay, 'cause the drinks were flowing! The pool and beach were gorgeous, and there was staff there to arrange any outside activity that you want to do. My husband and I absolutely loved our stay! And, it was the most economical all inclusive resort in the city...

| This hotel was fantastic. The bad really quickly, but very minor stuff. Room: humid in the mornings, but hey your in Jamaica. Food: Its buffet, not gourmet! Desserts poor, but fresh fruits are an amazing substitute. Miss the fresh fruit smoothies. Wouldn't recommend any seafood, not fresh, but jerk hut (Jamaican food) was incredible. Tried only 1 restaurant because we were always out during reservation time, Outback quality steakhouse. Bar: Small glasses, bring your own mugs or ask for 2 drinks at a time. Entertainment: Cruise ship quality, Wednesdays at Margaritaville are supposed to be real Jamaican entertainment, at night. Wear your bikini and get half price, $8 all you can drink till 1am. Staff: Recommend you tip everyone at least a $1. Extra: I cannot say enough about the hotel, really. It is so nice, I could see never leaving to venture outside. Must snorkel, great reef off shore. Wish the hotel provided more information about where things were on the property. Didn't know where all the travel groups were located until the last day, so not sure we got the best deals on travel excursions. The hotel also brings in local vendors on Sunday and Wednesday nights, you can bargain and its very low pressure compared with the city. The hotel takes care to only let people on the property that make you feel welcome and safe. For this reason, safety, I would always go with what the hotel recommends. Can't wait to go back. Enjoy!

| Great resort. Had everything an all-inclusive could ask for. Pros: -NEW! The hotel is in great condition, very small signs of wear that are barely noticeable. I expect the hotel to be in great condition at least till 2007. -Great food (better than expected from previous reviews) Sir Richard was great. The normal buffet was pretty good. Good Service -Great beach, well maintained and with plenty of water sports -Ocho Rios Dunn's River Falls was worthwhile. -Service was good. Never had to wait long at the bar. They served them as fast as they could. -Perfect weather. Cons: -Flaky AC in our specific room. Got really humid/hot in the morning. AC Was fine in friend's room. -Housekeeping=horrible. Missing Soap during checkin, didn't refill bathwash soap dispenser, took 4 phone calls to change old stubby sheets that we complained about, one afternoon they didn't makeup our room, but did the one across from us. I think housekeeping just hated us. -Restaurant reservation system. Their way of capping dining at the fancier places. Sir Richard was the hardest to get into cus it was also the smallest and best. -Mosquitoes, nothing you can do about that.

| I was very impressed with the layout of the hotel. Everything was very easy to find and loved the open air design of the lobby and the 3 bars near the lobby area. Lots of nice comfy chairs to lounge in that overlooked the ocean. It was very beautiful. I did not like the arrangements to book reservations for the restaurants at the hotel. They took reservations only during certain hours of the day and the lines could be extremely long and if they ran out of reservations before they got to you, you had to try again the next day. The best restaurants, by far, were Tushima and St. Ann. St. Ann is open seating every evening so if you don't want to waste your time in line - it's the best place to have dinner. The best way to get to the resort is by bus. It is $20 per person each way. A taxi will cost you $100. It's a long drive about 1 1/2- 2 hours and the roads are not the best, but be patient. It is worth the wait! I would definitely go back. We did have one small problem. The air conditioning in our room was not working when we arrived, but they moved us the next day to another room. Also there are some rooms on the 4th floor where the balconies have a tall block wall rather the regular terrace so be careful you don't get one of those rooms. It obstructs your view of the ocean from inside the room or when you are sitting on the balcony. You have to be standing in order to see over the top of it.

| My boyfriend and I just returned 2 days ago & we were so impressed with everything. The Jr. Suite rooms are fabulous. We could not have been happier. The hotel entertainment they provided each night was great! My boyfriend won the Mr. RIU 2006 contest which was hilarious! The discotheque was a blast!! The DJ played all kinds of great music. Both pools were fantastic. The water temperature was always perfect, even though there was a constant ocean breeze one of the days we were there. They now have ATMs but beware of the high fees. The hot tubs were totally relaxing. They are located in the spa but you have to reserve your time due to the limited amount of tubs. (They only have 2). The locals selling stuff on the beach weren't too agressive, it just got a bit annoying. The hotel had all types of fun activities - beach volleyball, pool aerobics, soka dance lessons, darts, & drinking contests (yes, drinking contests). The entertainment group/staff were extremely accommodating & friendly. However, the food was horrible. The only good meal of the day was breakfast. The food was very bland & they served pretty much the same thing everyday. The infamous Jerk Hut was closed for remodeling. We didn't try any of the restaurants that that required reservations b/c we did not want to waste any sun & fun time on standing in line. This is truly an ideal place for couples. We cannot wait to return!

| RIU Ocho Rios is too good to be true. One might expect the hotel to be sub-par because of its great value, but the only complaint I have here is the food, which was mediocre (except at the Jerk Hut on the beach, which was delicious!), but still not horrible. The hotel is brand new and beautiful, the service is efficient and friendly, and there are more than enough activities to keep you busy within the resort. Still, you ought to pay the market at Ocho Rios a visit, and make sure you go to Dunns River Falls!!!
