Friendly folks at the check in desk. Room very comfortable and well appointed. Only downside, and it is not the hotels fault, is that the area can be noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. But that's the price a person pays for staying in a good location in downtown Montreal. St. Chatherine's Street and good restaurants less than a block away.

The Novotel is conveniently located. It is about 2 blocks from the Bonaventure and/or Peel subway stations, making it convenient to walk and catch the train. Old Montreal is about a 10-15 minute walk from here, too. There is a ton o' restaurants and shopping on St. Catherine, and Mount Royal is a 10 minute walk (to the entrance). Overall, the hotel was OK. The room was well cleaned each day and it was comfy. Hey, we were there to see the city, not hang out in the room (in spite of the rain during our stay).

The Novotel Montreal Centre is in an excellent location if you are interested in walking to the nearby restaurants and shops. The museums and underground shopping are very convenient as well. The restaurant in the hotel was a bit pricey...but good. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We would go back.

The trip was really good and the hotel was quite comfortable, and was located 5 mins away from the Rue St Catherine, which is where all the shops are. It was about a 10 min walk from Crescent street, where all the clubs, bars and lounges. Service was quite good and the food was lovely. I 'd gladly recommend this to everyone.

The location of the hotel was great because it was right next to the main attractions in Montreal. Everything was in walking distance and we really didn't need a cab. If I were to go back to Montreal I would def stay here.

The hotel has a great location, less than a block from St Catherine St and a block from the Centre Bell. The staff was very friendly and helpful - moved our room after the first night when we had a sleepless night due to rowdy guests on our floor.

Novatel was just over half the price of the four "full-service" hotels listed by a recent conference for lodging in Montreal. It turned out to be one block from the hotel where our functions were held. The room was appointed in Euro-decor chic, which was attractive and with quite a few nice touches, like a bed desk that took no room to store slipped over a room bunch. However, storage for clothes was minimal and not sufficient for two people or for a stay of more than a couple nights. The room safe would not open, and after two daily unsatisfied requests to fix it, I was told the machine needed to open the safe was "broken." The reception is handled on three kiosks served by young female staff, who do their routine jobs quite competently, but are pretty much useless for handling requests not in the training manuals. Beds were very comfortable, with a light down comforter encased in luxurious percale duvet, and we would stay there again, particularly if the price holds.

What a great deal. Even though we were on the second floor just above the street, our room was extremely quiet. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and relatively newly redone. The location is fantastic - in the downtown area of Montreal - close to shops, bars, restaurants, and the subway.

Novotel was very conveniently located just off St Catherine: the Bell Center (hockey/concerts) is 2 blocks away and has a metro stop; St Catherine's boutiques, restaurants and bars are all within easy walking distance. The lobby and restaurant are modern and have a cosmopolitan feel. The room was very spacious, clean, and fairly sound-proof. I was happily impressed overall. The only complaint I had was the CAD$15 breakfast buffet- overpriced and not a great selection.

I stayed in one of the small rooms. It was well equipped for having to do work (which I had to every night). Great desk (2' x 6') which is unusual. Quiet at night, but very close to the action. There was a festival Fri/Sat with a rock band 2 blocks away (til 1am at least) which I could walk over and enjoy, but couldn't hear once I got back to my room. High speed internet worked great ($9.95 per day) and super easy to get on (plug and play). Overall the hotel was clean, well maintained, no smoke smell, and nice euro design.

I travel to Montreal frequently on business and am always looking for great places to stay. I recently tried out the Novotel downtown and was blown away. As a business traveler I appreciated the ease of use of their high speed internet service and their great, affordable breakfast buffet. And when it was time to play, I found the lobby and bar hip and happening with funky music and a great all-around scene. Plus there were tons of great restaurants within a couple blocks. The staff was very accomadating and welcoming and went out of their way to ensure my stay was enjoyable. I would highly recommend the Novotel to anyone looking for a great business hotel or a fun place to stay while visiting Montreal!

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel. It's location is great. Shopping is close by. Crescent St is just a block way. The Bell Center can be seen from the front door. The underground parking is a comfort since the outside parking lots can be a risk. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff could not have been more helpful and kind. For the low price you get yourself a very nice room.

It's hard to know where to begin with the bad, so, here we go: Two of the lights in the room were so old and worn I was expecting an electrical shock when I turned them on, the phone was covered in some sort of dried Cola syrup (I never did get the #9 button to work), the carpet was old and stained, the curtains were old and stained, the furniture in the lobby and at the elevators on each floor were old and worn, I couldn't quite place the smell of the room but it did take me back to a NYC Subway Tunnel, the hotel did not have a restaurant or anywhere else to eat because it was being renovated (and, if it was anything like the rest of the hotel, thank God for that). One 'good' thing: when you did see the staff, they seemed generally helpful. Overall the hotel was outdated, old, worn, uninviting and a complete waste of money. There are plenty other hotels in the immediate area, so pass this one up.
