The rooms are cleaner than many places by the beach. It's a close walk (a couple blocks) to Mission Beach, which has plenty of things to do, including Belmont Park, with the roller coaster, and other rides. I've stayed here before, and will stay again. You're close enough to the beach without being "on" the beach.

The Hotel was beautiful, the room was clean. The location was excellent. We went to Sea World, San Diego Zoo, and the beach. The front counter staff was not very professional. They could not answer some of our billing questions. We ate at the resturant, and the service was horrible! We waited an extremly long time for the food( and it was off peak hours) and even had to wait for our beverages. It was nothing great menu wise either. Room service was prompt, but the food was barely edible. On the upside, the arcade had good games that were all free, pool was heated and had fluffy towels, the property was beautiful. We stayed in a standard garden room and it seemed as if we had all the privacy in the world! The free boat ride was very nice too. If you are looking to relax, it is a great hotel. Just dont expect too much pampering service wise.

We decided to hit San Diego this year with no plans of amuzment parks. Our goal was just to check in at the resort and "hang out" for the three day weekend. What an excellent choice! We had a suite that was very spacious with a full kitchen (no microwave though) and a great balcony. Pool was big and it was great having a private beach, especially for a three day weekend when all the public beaches were packed. The marina was great! Rented a motorboat, kyak and this a run cat. It was great! The seals where a great extra piece of entertainment. Had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We were disappointed in the condition of our room, it needed to be refurbished badly! There were lots of activities relatively close which was great, luckily we had a car. The hotel grounds were beautiful, but the private peninsula is misleading. Our room was right off the beach and we always had parked cars in front of us and people walking around. We will not stay there again.

This is an older hotel property but it's very much a part of San Diego. I've lived in San Diego since the age of 2. This was a overnight birthday getaway. The hotel is nice in that you don't need to leave if you wish not to. There is a decent resturant and bar on the premises and on the weekends (Friday and Sat) you can take a trip on the bay behind the hotel on the Bahia Belle for a very minimal fee. There is a heated pool...and a seal pool where the two resident seals reside. I stayed in a bayview studio which had a full kichen which was nice to be able to have your own beverages and snacks in the room. There is also room service although I did not use it this time. The staff was helpful. It was pretty quiet BUT there seemed to be a few young couples traveling with young children the night we were there and small children were crying in the middle of the night which seemed really loud because it does get very quiet in the evenings.

I would definitely pick the Bahia Resort again as long as I rented a car. It would have been nice if the Resort at least had a shuttle to Sea World (which is only 2 or 3 miles away)...no shuttle at all, not even to the airport. However, absolutely beautiful view, comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. Only thing about the room was that cold showers were taken by all EVERY morning...but wasn't enough to ruin the ambiance.

My husband, 10 year child and I stayed for 10 days at the Bahia in April 2006 during Spring break. Based on the reviews, we requested a room in the back building (building 4 top floor) We had a king size bed with a fold out couch which was perfect. We were in a suite with a kitchnette, very convenient and spacious. The room shows some signs of wear/tear on the carpet and furniture, but not bad. The bathroom was small (had to duck to get under the shower spigit) and most in need of updating. The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. Great room location b/c no streets at that end of the resort. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The elevator in this building was out (for the entire 10 days we were there)and staff offered to relocate us, but we declined because we loved the view and room. However, this would have been a hardship for elderly guests or those with small children. The complementary ride on the Bahia Belle was a lot of fun. Also, on Saturday night, the hotel put up a big screen and showed a family movie with free popcorn. They also threw a ton of tubes into the water for kids/adults to float around on while viewing the movie - a lot of fun. The pool and whirlpool are very big and very clean (pool's heated). The gym in small but well equipped. Overall, a good value and we would go again.

This hotel was is a great location on the bay. We enjoyed the short drive to Sea World and the area beaches. Mission beach was about a 20 minute walk. The the hotel is an older hotel with lots of potention. The only draw back we found were mostly with maintenace. The maintenance the facility is not that great. During our stay (5 days)the elevator was out of service. The tile patch work inthe bath room was very bad they also installed the soap dish upside down. Every day the shower tempeture was inconsistent.

Beautiful setting, wonderful location, a lot nearby, but the hotel service and the room was somewhat lacking. We were expecting a resort type room, but it was not that quality. The bathroom was small and outdated. The worst was the bed - sheets did not even cover the bed! We had to remake the bed ourselves every day (but that didn't help much). Great breakfast in their cafe, but the dinner was disappointing - food was cold. A nice amenity was the free doubledecker boat ride with a live band on the weekends. The concierge was useless for obtaining information. Overall, it was a fair value at best.

We had a garden room but were upgraded to a Seaside room. It was huge! there was a king sized bed on one side and an actual living room set up on the other. ( The sofa converts into a bed -- hence good for families) Just like the other reviews saud -- the OJ was amazing -- what is in it? Our only compaint was that the room service was late and cold -- we scheduled it the night before for a particular time because we had a meeting but like i said -- it was late and my waffle was cold :(

We stayed at the Bahia on Feb 2 and Feb 10. Area was overall not real busy this time of year but weather was nice in the mids60s-70 during daytime. The grounds are beautiful - lush garden areas with walking paths and location on the bay is very relaxing. We were within walking distance of Pacfic Ocean. Mission Beach (2 miles of beach boardwalk) and plenty of little restaurants. However, the first night our nonsmoking room smelled of smoke and the window in bathroom was not very secure. The desk told us there would be a cruise on bay - first night it was in dry dock for repairs, second night they said they only run on Sat and Sun. First night we received a 6:00 AM wakeup call we did not request. Better room the second night.

This hotel is in a wonderful area and we had a gorgeous view of the bay from our room. But the beds were horrible (small, uncomfortable, no fitted sheet on bed so we ended up sleeping on bear mattress in the middle of the night) and the hotel is quite outdated. We did enjoy the little kitchenette, however. The hotel and hot tub were both very large and very nice. So if you don't plan on spending much time in your room, this hotel would work well for you...

My husband and I stayed at the Bahia just recently when we were on our honeymoon in San Diego. The hotel is close to almost everything (Sea World, zoo, airport, beach, etc.) and the staff was great! Nice heated pool and large whirlpool. Our only bit of dissatisfaction comes with the room itself - it was a bit musty the whole time we were there and our room stayed pretty damp. We weren't sure if it was from the weather or if it was indeed the room itself. It wasn't bothersome, but it was definitely noticeable. When we called the front desk to ask about it, they said that was pretty typical for January. However, she did offer to move us to another room, but we chose to stay where we were due to the convenience of not moving our stuff again. We also had a great view of the bay from our balcony. Overall, a great place!

The property was above average. The hoosekeeping staff was the only thing I can say anything negative about. They made the bed up every day and just didn't get the sheet thing right. One night we had to call housekeeping to remake the bed because they put queen sheets on a king bed. The next night they changed the sheets again and, again didn't make the bed right. Everything else was worth returning for.

My children and I stayed at the Bahia for five days. We were very impressed with the elegance of the hotel. Palm trees and tropical plants everywhere. The seal pond was a neat attraction. It appears that the seals are very well taken care of. Many of the menu items were VERY expensive and limited selection. Had their breakfast buffet one morning and wasn't really impressed, especially for the price! OJ was awesome. We had a studio room which had a kitchen with a refrigerator/freezer, and stove/oven. Asked for a microwave and one was brought to our room. The mattress was very hard. I woke up often from being so uncomfortable. I asked if they had anything to put on the mattress to make it softer and they didn't. They did give me a couple of softer pillows which helped. My kids loved the pool and I enjoyed the hot tub. Both were very decent size. Although, if you have small children, the pool is very deep. It starts out at 3 ft right away and the deepest end is 10 ft. We stayed in the tower closest to the lobby and found that very convenient. The other tower was a ways at the other end and we would've had to walk a ways to get to the pool, restaurant and lounge. Saturday nite there was a wedding reception on the fifth floor, which everyone was warned about, but it was quickly over at 11:00 p.m. All in all, this was a great place to stay and I would most definately stay there again. Close to SeaWorld and airport. I was glad to have a car to get around.

My husband and I and our daughter recently stayed at the Bahia for five nights. We had a 1-bedroom Bay suite. The living area was a good size, as was the kitchen. The bedroom was on the small side and the bathroom was miniscule. The beds were on the hard side. The bedspreads were new but hard. There were no pillow shams on the beds. Very little attempt on the part of the hotel to make the rooms comfortable. If you are looking for comfortable accommodations, this is probably not the place. No ambience whatsoever. There was a balcony with two chaise lounges overlooking Mission Bay. View would have been better had their not been as much foliage in front of the balcony. The grounds were very well maintained and there is a lot of mature landscaping. Very lush and tropical. Pool was well maintained and pool temperature was comfortable. Pool towels must be checked out however. One couple we encountered forgot to return their towels and when they received their hotel bill, they had been charged $10 per towel!! Food in the cafe is good - some of the best orange juice we've ever tasted. Tennis courts are well maintained and there is no charge to use them. There is a tennis pro on site. We felt we moreorless got what we paid for, but we would not stay at this hotel again because of the comfort factor or lack of it and the small size of the bathroom.

We stayed there just one night, as soon as we entered the room it had a musty smell. Our clothes smelled musty for a couple of days after we left the hotel. The icemaker is only in the main lobby, which could be a good distance depending on where your room is located. No plastic cups in the room, the bathroom and the living area needs some updating. I liked the free internet and the heated pool and spa. The cove around the hotel is nasty--it looked good online and pictures. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

The rooms were a bit musty/moldy. It got to the point of being bothersome, especially to my wife who has allergies. I'm not sure it's a result of the ocean air, or just the age of the hotel and decor. I was afraid to sit on the furniture, as it looked worse than most of the pieces I've seen sitting on the sides of roads, or at secondhand shops. The location is decent, along with the view of the bay. The cafe is decent.
