Overall the Shilo was a decent hotel to be staying at. I would recommend it for the casual traveler and also possibly the business person on the go. My only major complaint would be the lack of any form of business/computer center. I needed to print out a form and they said they weren't quite done with their computer center. Which meant, the computers were still in boxes sitting on rolls of carpet. In this day I thought that was a little odd for a major hotel chain. Best way to describe the hotel was quaint. The rooms were very good, but the overall atmosphere was a little dated I thought. Not as many modern amenities as I have come to expect from a modern hotel chain.

Room was OK and the wireless internet worked just fine. Room service has a very limited menu so went down to the Sports Bar which had ended closing early due to lack of business. Fortunately, there are good places to eat nearby. Signs are posted for gift shop that was remodeled out of existence some time ago. Person at desk didn't know directions to a hotel two blocks away. OK for a place to flop but if you need a little bit more, you can get it in the area for not too much more than it takes to stay here.

Our trip was excellent even when the five bus loads of high school kids arrived from CA. The staff did their best to accomodate everyone even in all the chaos. The rooms were very clean and it was so nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room. Good size rooms and great views. Will definitely stay again next year!

This hotel was easy to find and centrally located for all the business travel I had. In addition, it's one block away from the Capital Theater and I was able to walk down and see a musical on a free night. It was great. The room was huge and there is complimentary wireless. Also a great breakfast included in the stay. My only complaint was that it took the shower forever to get warm, but it was about 24 outside every morning, so that could be why.

Asked for nonsmoking room, was put in a smoking room and given air freshener to "clean it up" hack, hack. Very conviently located to the convention center and other downtown attractions. One of the quietest hotels I've stayed at (didn't here neighbors next to or above). The hot breakfast was not good, go for the muffin and fresh fruit.

The hotel was mostly excellent. We will stay there again next year when we go to the convention. The large indoor pool and huge hot tub and sauna were a big plus. The rooms have refrigerators and microwaves and free wireless internet. The complimentary reakfasts are very good consisting of eggs, bacon, potatoes, and bisquits or a list of other items. Maid service is the only area of improvement. They consistently forgot to leave one thing or another in the room each day such as glasses one day, coffee cups one day, etc. Overall, it is a very excellent place to stay for the money. Highly recomment it.

Since I travel a good bit, I always read the reviews of hotels I've never stayed at and try to put everyone's opinion at value. After staying at the Shilo Inn for 4 days, I was very satisfied with everything they offered at a very reasonable price. Customer service was 5 star and the free breakfast was good. The hotel was very clean and staff was very helpful. The area the hotel is located is very clean. The Salt Palace is across the street as well as the Olive Garden resturant. It also has a bus stop right in front of the hotel. I think many travelers will find this hotel very accommodating at a good price.

We could only stay for one night and needed to be centrally located. The LDS Complex is one long block to the north and the Salt Palace Convention Center is across the street. If the weather is bad, you can walk through the Palace to the LDS Temple most of the way. The Shilo Inn has plenty of free off-the-street parking for guests. For fresh beer lovers, two of SLC's breweries are within walking distance and also offer a fine menu.

The hotel is close to all downtown activities and sites. It is not a fancy hotel, but the price reflects that. It is very accomodating with 24 hour access to pool/spa/exercise room - internet access, etc. Food in the hotel is fair at best, but there are plenty of restaurants in the area.

When traveling there are a few "must haves" in my book. While this hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, I felt it was lacking in the security department. They still have the old fashioned keys for entry into your room. Also, the only deadbolt available can be opened from the outside with a key. Not my idea of good security. Overall the hotel was ok, but I will not be staying there again.

The front desk staff was exceptionally helpful. Had a utility trailer that I needed to park for the 4 nights of my stay. Let me use one of the two spots for the Hotel Vans. Just backed straight in. Staff came out with the authorization to park covered with tape due to rain. Room was very clean, and quiet. Plenty of towels, and toiletries. The "free" breakfast at the one site restaurant was good, what do you expect for free-eggs benedict-you negative grouch? Close to Temple Square, etc. Will always stay at the Shilo when in Salt Lake from now on.

For some reason the temperature was set at least 15 degrees higher in the hallways than in the room. And it was considerably warmer inside the hotel than outside (which was not particularly cool). The humidity in the halls seemed higher too. There was just something weird about it and it was almost uncomfortable out in the halls. The hotel overall was OK. It is starting to look a little seedy around the edges (carpeting showing wear and tear, elevators starting to rattle and the kind of odor you get from the accumulated hidden grime of 25 or 30 years). The place could use a renovation. But the price is OK and it was convenient to all the sights we wanted to see. Not bad if you want a reasonable price and acceptable accomodations while not expecting much beyond the ordinary.

The room was huge, with desk, table & chairs, easy chair and side table, king bed, and a fridge & microwave. The location was great, across the street from the Salt Palace Convention Center and within walking distance of numerous restaurants. Free wireless internet, free hot breakfast, newspaper outside the door every morning, and great complimentary toiletries were icing on the cake. I would stay here again anytime.

For starters, the reservations were messed up. They locked me out of my room. The free breakfasts were less than appetizing. They double charged for one night when checking out. (They did correct this when I called.) The windows were dirty. The curtains were hanging in shreds. The bathroom was clean. They advertised fresh cookies in the lobby and they were not there until we asked and they did make them one day of our 4 day stay.
