We really enjoyed our stay in this old, renovated hotel. Everything was first class. Four and a half star restaurant. Comfortable, cosy lounge. Classy. The only thing was that there was not a lot of room to spread out toiletries in the bathroom, but the size of the bedroom made up for that. I would definitely recommend the Melrose.

The Hotel is very nice, the bar and lounge are tops. Along with the Martini's. The marble and wood work throughout the Hotel is beautiful.

Was greeted with a valet attendant who was very indignant by the fact that we only wanted to check in, leave our bags in the room and head for an engagement in the city. Very insistant that we valet the car. Bellman took our bags out of the car, rolled them into the hotel and left them for us bring to room ourselves. Front desk clerks were beginning check-in with another customer and acted like they saw nothing. As we came out to leave the valet wanted to know our room number. When I asked why, he said because their bellman cart was on our floor. Couldn't even believe that. Towels in room were rough and tub had an opened bar of soap with hair on it. Had a full schedule and did not have time to complain. Being from New Orleans, we know what hospitality is. Hotel is beautiful but needs work on tending to its guest.

We loved the character of the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean. We requested a King Bed, but were told at check-in that none were available and would two doubles be okay. We said "NO" and within had the King Bed we requested. Must just be standard check-in procedure to see who will settle for the double beds. Overall we were very pleased.
