This was strictly a sightseeing visit to San Diego. The advertised access to public transportation (shuttle to trolley) seemed like a good idea, but was not practical nor really encouraged by the staff. Maps make many things look within walking distance, but this is a heavily travelled, multi-lane traffic area - so you can't walk anywhere. Concierge stayed busy running guests around to the nice mall and other places.

It looked nice as we were registering and the front desk personeel were sweet. BUT when I turned down the bed there were little hairs (cat? rodent?) all over the sheets! EEYEUUW! Then they expected ME to change the bed. I'm on vacation! Then a strange man walked into our room while we were changing!! They apparently reassigned our room while we were still in it! The patio furniture was dirty... ducks in the swimming pool, yuk! Called for towels, they never came... phone didn't work...it goes on and on....

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. Hotel keeps grounds in excellent condition. Room was clean, but the walls are a little thin. Bed was a little uncomfortable but that could just be due to the the difference between being used to sleeping on a high priced premium mattress at home. Great central location to many attractions and easy freeway access.

Immaculate grounds, cheerful & helpful staff. Chat them up, they have good recommendations and internet in the lobby to check things out. Close to everything. 10 minutes to the airport. Onsite 24 hour restaurant, room service, convenience store & gas station. Never tried the health club which is up the hill at the back of the hotel property and is actually a public club which guests can use. This was our third year and we have actually stayed in the same room each time. I can be pretty picky, but this year the room needed some help. Glass not clean (closet doors & bathroom) and the carpet was worn & coming up in places as well as stained furniture and an actual burn hole in a pillowcase. It was a smoking room to be fair, they get the least attention. We stay at Thanksgiving when it is usually full of student sports teams and it is still quiet. An overall good value.

I stayed at the Mission Valley Resort for 7 nights and consider my stay "satisfactory". The hotel is conviently located in Mission Valley and central to many attractions. The hotel complex is huge and includes a restaurant, lounge, liquer store, gas station and gym. The room was in fair condition and a little small. The only ammenity was a coffee maker, which I used daily. The TV had limited channels and some were fuzzy. One local call cost me 50 cents. My room did have wireless internet which worked great. The gym is a big, 2 story facility and I enjoyed it several times. One of the negatives was a lot of noise from the freeway and inconsiderate guests. The walls are thin and you can hear people talking outside as well as parking lot noise. The liquer store attracted some shady people at night, and I felt somewhat uneasy shopping there during that time. The food at the restaurant is good, but a little expensive. I think this hotel is probably the best available in this price range, but you may consider paying a little more for something nicer.

The folks at the hotel were helpful when I had questions about the area. I found that the room I was given was very close to the street, and quite noisy due to the nearby freeway. I had to ask for a new lightbulb and repair of the television remote, but both were taken care of very quickly. For the price, this is not a bad hotel.

The resort has a 24 hour family restaurant, and convienent store open until midnight, a sports bar and other amenities. I was able to get a great massage there. The resort in general has a homey and friendly quality, not fancy - very relaxed. Great for families but also adults. The front desk staff is extremly helpful and informative. If you have a question about San Diego, they know the answer. If you have a problem concerning your room or would like to make a change to your stay- they will work with you. There is a computer in the lobby where you can check your email or buy e-tickets to attractions, such as SeaWorld. It is conviently located to all the main attractions and there is a great shopping mall just 2 mins away! When I stay in San Diego this will be my hotel. I highly recommend it.

The staff was very helpful. The hotel grounds are beautiful with benches and tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Our room was an end room closer to the road. There was a fair amount of traffic noise even with the window closed. A great location, within a few miles of all the attractions. We even watched the Sea World fireworks from the parking lot.

We stayed here for one night after a Sea World Visit, with our 7 year old son - It's an older hotel, but our room wasn't ragged at all - Building 5 is farthest from the Highway, so we had a quiet night, the beds were comfortable, check-in was quick, the wireless Internet worked perfectly, the food was good in the restaurant (mashed potatoes, yum), the pool & jacuzzi were perfect, my son had a great time, it was NO stress for us parents, so Yes, I'd stay here again anytime -

After reading other coments regarding this hotel, I was pleasantly surprised and it is the most attractive property on the hotel circle. I took the hotels complim. shuttle to OLD TOWN SD and called toll free to be picked up and the driver was there within 5 minutes! The bathroom towels wr thick, unlike what I read elsewhere here. The staff is very friendly and they go out there way to serve you and make you feel welcome.

The staff here are great and extremely friendy, rooms are very nice and comfortable. They have a computer for use in the lobby 24 hours which is great and they never charged me for the copies and maps we printed. The FAMILY restaurant on property has pretty good food, and the service was the best we had experienced in the whole 2 weeks in Southern California (we were traveling with 4 children). We returned twice so far to this hotel and highly recommend it! The ONLY thing that needs improvement would be in room or wireless internet connection (free of charge of course).

We enjoyed our stay at The Mission Valley Resort. The rooms were cleaned daily. The pool areas were neat and clean. The laundry room (which we used) was neat and clean and inexpensive. The towels (both room and hotel were rather thin, however). There was some noise from the road (very close to Route 8 - but so is every hotel on Hotel Circle). However, we put the air conditioner fan on and that blocked any road noises. All in all, we will definitely stay here on our next trip to San Diego.

Hotel was within 15 minutes of Sea World and San Diego, so the location was nice. A little noisy b/c close to the freeway, but all the hotels along this strip are probably a bit noisy. There's a nice gym that hotel guests can access and there are several pools, which we didn't get to use b/c it was raining. The front desk was great. They anticipated the kinds of questions that guests would ask and had them preprinted on little slips of paper. I asked where the nearest grocery was and the front desk clerk printed me out directions.

The remodeled room and bath were not up to current standards of space and layout, but this was more than made up for by its cleanliness. All the staff we met were helpful and went out of their way to meet our needs. Cot, extra blankets and pillows arrived at our room in quick order. The 24-hour restaurant, Mini-mart, gas station, ATM, and full-service gym more than made up for a week in a vintage room. Its central location was also an asset.

Arriving on a very late flight, we were warmly received and quickly directed to our room. A few steps to the restaurant gave us a wonderful breakfast followed by a stroll around the grounds. A young gentleman asked how he could be of service to us throughout our stay and gave detailed descriptions of the amenities on sight and suggested numerous activities we might like to do in the San Diego area.In spite of the rain, mud slides and river flooding, we found plenty to do, especially enjoying the "FROGS" health club on sight.Service was friendly and the room clean. This was a very comfortable stay and look forward to returning.
