I was apprehensive about staying here because I had read that some of the rooms were outdated. We were very pleased with ours in the Banyan Building, #228. It was recently updated and had large bathroom with double sinks and full kitchen. The beachfront is quiet and outstanding. Snorkeling is great just north of the hotel. We lounged on their grassy area, too...overlooking the ocean. It was cooler and had shade. After seeing how crowded the beaches in front of the nicer Whaler's Village hotels, we loved our beach even more! We ate breakfast at the Castaway Cafe on the grounds almost every morning. The trolley was convenient to go to Whaler's Village. We would definitely stay there again and can't wait to until our next trip.

We recently visited the Maui Kaanapali Villas and really enjoyed our stay. The ocean view room, did have an ocean view, although the lanai was quite small. We were lucky to have two chairs and a small table on ours, but most don't. The a/c worked well and the king size bed was great. We had a one bedroom so that we had some room away from our 2 yr old after she went to bed and it was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pools were very clean and nice and right off the beach and the Castaway Cafe was in a great location and easy to go to every day for breakfast (or any meal). We would definitely visit this hotel again!

Kaanapali Villas is a very nice hotel. We stayed at the Dolphin building and it is close to the ocean. Loved our stay in Maui, I will consider staying at the Villas again. It had all the amenities in the kitchen. I did't cook at all but we heated stuff and ate breakfast at the patio. Spent most of the time doing water sports, and checking out different nice restaurants. Loved the Feast at Lele luau. The hotel was just a great place to crash after a long day of fun.

We chose this place from the 30 or so hotels and condos available in Ka'anapali for the simple reason that it offered a full kitchen for the same price as other "hotels". It was a mistake. For the little that we saved, I can honestly say I feel we got less than we paid for... I would have surely paid a few extra bucks to stay in a more friendly and less "dated" facility. When you arrive at the hotel, you'll be surprsied to find a relic among many sparkling and modern alternatives. The check in and all common areas are about as well decorated as a 30 year old K Mart. I must say the grounds are average and clean, but maybe not what one would expect. The staff is not going to engage you to offer their services. You must do quite a bit to get them from behind the counter. From the start of the stay you will notice their dillegence to get you to sign paperwork agreeing to the many fees they plan to add to your bill. I noticed many arguments at the Front Desk involving such. Be prepared for policies such as having to buy internet access for essentially $1 per minute or a "package" for 5 hours for $50. You can also not expect any help whatsoever from the activities desk until you've fully paid for the trip you're asking questions about (no refunds of course). In all fairness, our room was probably state of the art for the 70's. The A/C really didn't work, but was very noisy. Parking is difficult and despite having to pay for it, you'll probably end up self-parked on the street.

The hotel is good for the value. The service was outstanding and the food at the Castaway Cafe was delicious. The grounds and rooms are not upscale, like the surrrounding hotels. If you are looking to save a few dollars, this might be the place for you. We enjoyed the full kitchen. We did have issues with our a/c keeping the room cool during the evening. I would only recommend this hotel to those looking to save money, but not for a first time visitor to Maui. I wasn't impressed with the beach at all. Enjoy!

The hotel is not new, but it is well-maintained. Staff is friendly and dependable. Our room was quite large for a one-bedroom hotel room, and the small refrigerator in the room came in handy. The only drawbacks were a really firm mattress and not-too-comfortable chairs. All in all, this was a very good room for the price, and we would go back again.

Only complaint is front desk service was less than very friendly... not terrible, just not great. Room cleaning/service was very good though.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. Many of the rooms are condo-style with kitchens and a good sized bathroom. Some rooms are "hotel style" with only a bathroom. I have stayed in both and recommend the condo-style for added comfort if you like to prepare some of your own meals in your room. The hotel is located on Airport Beach, which is essentially North Kaanapali Beach. Airport beach is an outstanding beach and is not as busy as Kaanapali. The Kaanapali Villas are one of my first choices every time I visit Maui.

The condo was great! Great views and access to a beautiful beach. Snorkeling was awesome and convenient for all (2 kids 6 & 9 y/o.) The help was freindly, but not as accomodating as we would have liked. We had a late flight and the health club wasn't working. We had hoped to shower there before the flight in the evening, but no way. We felt that because it had rained during our entire stay, they would have helped us out by letting us either use a facility there or at another property, but NOOOO! Other than that it was pleseant

There were other hotels on this side of the island that were newer and fancier, but this one was just the right balance of NICE and FUN and RELAXING. It was also very family oriented, with guests and residents of all ages. When we wanted to, we were able to get to any of the hotels, beaches and shops along the Kaanapali stretch by way of the free trolley . . . the staff were extremely kind and attentive to all our needs.

I booked this trip to Maui for my daughter and I and could not be happier with the vacation. The Kaanapali Villas was quiet and the properties were perfectly kept. The entire staff was always pleasent and helpful. In the lobby there is an activity person (8am to 5pm) that booked all of our activities for the week - whale watching, surfing lessons, luai, sightseeing - she also gave us a map with parking areas, time schedules and all the information on all events. This was very helpful and a great aid to us. The events and activities we went to were great and well worth the cost. The Castaway cafe on the property had great breakfast, lunch and dinners and is right next to the beach, pools and bar area. We swam, snorkeled and boogie boarded every day all with in 100 yards of our room.

I had read reviews before we left about how it's an older hotel and outdated, needed new colors and decor, and so on. But I must say we were happy with our stay. We had a very nice open room, nicely decorated, very large windows and sliding doors and I could actually see the ocean. The beach is wonderful, not as crowded as others that aren't even as nice. The staff was very friendly all around. We were in a few of the area resorts- there are many that are nicer, however I would stay at Maui Kaanapali Villas again. I could see how someone who's used to staying at 5 star hotels wouldn't find it impressive. I spend most of my vacation out of the hotel.

This hotel/condo complex is just beyond the "black rock" section of Kaanapali (just north of the Sheraton). It's fairly low-key, but is quiet, extremely comfortable, and has wonderful service and facilities. The rooms are REALLY nice. Ocean-front rooms are right on the beach and all the others are a one-minute walk to the beach. Good, friendly service. Reasonably priced for such an upscale location. A real winner!!

We reserved and paid for a garden view, as advertised, being seniors we were upgraded to a full ocean view room. We are sure we had the best view in the entire complex. The hotel staff were very nice and friendly also. The grounds are spectacular, We enjoyed several meals at the Castaway Restaurant. The combo pancakes with the lanai sauce are wonderful. We are hoping to make another trip to Maui, when we do we will definately stay at the Kaanapali Villas and request room 505 in the tower again.

This was our second stay in room 250 of the 'Coconut' Building. We just love these condos. It is an older place that does not have the fancy pools that some of the other resorts have but who needs a fancy pool when you have the GORGEOUS oceans of Maui step away. This property is kept extremely clean and the service is great. Each condo is privately owned so if you don't like the condo assigned you can try to see others that may suit you better. There is also the Kaanapali Trolly that will take you just about anywhere in Kaanapali for free (including Whaler's Village). Lastly, the beach is awesome. It is less crowded than the other side of Black Rock. If you go down a bit towards The Westin, you will discover an awesome reef. I found this reef to be better than Black Rock as I found Black Rock to be too crowded! Lastly, you have got to check out the breakfast at the Castway Cafe (the on site restaurant). The setting is awesome. It is not generally crowded and you can sit outside with a beautiful view of the ocean...it's heaven!
