The hotel is built in a courtyard style and on a busy street. You can hear all the street noise, plus when someone comes in late night or early morning you can hear them talking and walking up the metal staircase. We were in the middle of the courtyard, so imagine it must have been far worse up toward the street, but better toward the back. Parking was ideal, price was right and I loved the location next to Union and Chestnut street, but won't stay there again.

Lot of good eateries in walking distance, maybe 4 blocks to waterfront where you can see the Golden Gate. There is also a Safeway grocery there if you want to buy some non-restaurant food to take along or have a picnic. There is also a kid's playground about a block north (and a gym at the rec center as well as some softball fields). If you don't get a spot in the lot you can park around there at night but wake up early if it is a weekday, there are timed zones and street cleaning days to be aware of. We had read some of the reviews about the sound being loud so we weren't bothered...on Christmas Day when there was little traffic. There is a single stairway that goes upstairs into the courtyards and the street sounds from Van Ness Ave. (US Hwy 101) goes up and echoes; a bit of sound deadening or a door and 50% would probably be gone. Tile walkways may be durable but guests rolling their suitcases made an echoing click-click you could hear.

The walls really are paper thin, you can hear the noise of the street constantly. But, that was really the only bad part. The walk to Fisherman's Wharf was an easy one, no big hills. Their complimentary breakfast was very good. We loved the make-them-yourself waffles!!

This hotel was not all that nice. It had some nice components to it, but mixed in with all of the older parts of the room it didn't make it very nice. The continental breakfast was also disappointing. They had juice, but every morning(like just an hour or so after it had started) they were out of juice. That left you with one kind of cereal and a waffle.

Very noisy from the street. Holes in the shower wall, plasterboard above showerhead coming off. Pillows like rocks. I was checked out by a 12 year old kid who told me I had to wait because "the others were busy", despite the fact the room was paid for in full inadvance. I was there by myself, would never take, or recommen, to others.

I don't like to complain, but I would never stay in this hotel again and I would never recommend it to any of my friends! Imagine: blankets, sheets and pillowcases with holes, lamps without covers and lightbulbs, torn towels, paper walls. Very disturbing experience... And definately not so close to Fisherman Wharf.

Heading to Napa but got a late flight into San Francisco. So decided to stay at this hotel because I have stayed here before for business. Just as run down as before but clean (except for a piece of plastic stuck under the covers I had to toss) and very close to the Golden Gate Bridge which for me is a fast getaway in the morning especially with rush hour. One positive to note: free wi-fi in the room. One negative note: Loud. Although rooms are in a courtyard, you can hear cars and people walking around even at 2am.

This is an older building, not real fancy, with a parking garage on the ground floor. There are no elevators, it is not set up for any one with problems climbing stairs. For our group, it was just what we were looking for, a clean, safe, centralized place to sleep while we ran around San Francisco. It was also very inexpensive. The staff was very helpful and freindly, making the stay very enjoyable. The money we saved on the hotel we spent on shopping and dining. We have all agreed to come back to the Ramada-Fisherman's Wharf on our next run-away to SF.

This is a good hotel if you are on a budget. It is close to Fishermans Wharf. If the weather is a bad, however, the hotel isn't within a comfortable walking distance. Take a cab then. The hotel is within close to Van Ness street which provides access to the the freeway (and the airport). If you can afford more then stay closer to the Wharf. If you can't, then this isn't a bad place either.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed. The walls are paper thin and people were partying and yelling and stomping up the stairs all night. The room smelled of urine and there were cigarette burns all over the blanket in our nonsmoking room. My husband and I got barely any sleep at all because of the noise. This place is TERRIBLE!!!!!

First off, this place is in the Marina District, not Fisherman's Wharf as advertised. If your plans include a visit to Fisherman's Wharf, it is several blocks away up and down a few hills. The room was clean, the staff was courteous, and it even has wireless Internet! (Unfortunately I found that out AFTER the fact and forgot to bring my wireless network card) The room wasn't terribly big - about the size of a Motel 6 room - but it was more than adequate. For what I got I thought it was a bit pricey, but then again it is right in San Francisco (decent neighborhood too) and not a $40 cab ride away from most attractions. If you do drive there, you either have to park on the street or get one of their small "first come, first serve" spaces (about ten total), and the nearest public transportation is two streets south (again, up and down hills) so be prepared.

The price was OK, the room was clean, but not a place for a claustrophobe...Most rooms faced an inside atrium with no other window to the outside world. Managed to switch to one of only three rooms facing on Lombard St with an outside window - tiny room with giant handicap bathroom (on the third floor with no elevator) but worth the price. Office people were nice...

Hotel is close to the Wharf right on Lombard which was great. Close to restaurants too. However, the parking garage underneath where only 18 cars fit allows voices and any noise to travel up to the rooms. We also had to find parking on the street 4 blocks away since the garage is park free on a first come first serve basis.
