TheTradeWinds Island Grand staff was wonderful. The KONK kid's club is GREAT it gives mom and dad some grown up time in the evening and our 8 year old had a great time every night. Can't say enough good stuff. Bars close a little early 11:00pm. We will be back next Year.

Based on the description provided, we expected a little more luxury, ie. larger bathrooms and showers, but the room was nice otherwise. The spa was a little disappointing, with fees that were too high for the service offered. The restaurants were conveniently located and had good hours of operation. The food was average. The kid's club was a lifesaver during the rain. The staff could not have been nicer or more accomodating. We were there during a tropical storm and the hotel responded to the bad weather quickly and professionally, moving us from our beachfront room to a safer room which was actually a little nicer than the one we had. They went out of their way to reassure my young daughter that we would be safe and she would still have fun on vacation. It was a good family resort, however, if I were single or vacationing just with my spouse, I would like a little more luxury.

We had a great time. The rooms were nice and clean. The service was very good. It is a large complex that has pools right next to the beach. The restaurants can be expensive, but the rooms have nice kitchenette and we ate breakfast in the room each morning. It is sometime hard to get a cabana and they are a little far from the water. Publix is a great store to get supplies food etc. Some of the very low reviews worried us. They were wrong it was good!

We spent a week in the hotel with two kids in tropical view siute. We found it very comfortable, and family fiendly. The hotel was not overcrowded in the beginning of June, therefore it was not noisy as well, as I red in earlier reviews. The swimming pools were great, there is one for little kids as well. There is a lot to do within the hotel, so you don't have to go elsewhere, we were not impressed by the vicinity and other restaurants or The Pier at all. There are several different types of restaurants at the hotel, you can choose the most suitable one. The prices are not extremely high, as I expected, and you can save on dining if you go to Publix for drinks or breakfast. The beach is beautiful, you can ask for extra towels near the Flying Bridge. Try the paddleboat, the kids enjoyed it very much. I did not find the distances long, we really enjoyed walking around the hotel. On the other hand, we also had to wait until 5 to get the room. The carpet was dirty in the suite, I could see it on my kids' foot, but otherwise it was fine. I missed a bigger balcony, and clothes horse or something similar, we could not dry our towels and clothes as the air was very humid all the time. One more thing, we would have expected from a 4star hotel to have free internet access in the rooms. We found the fee too much, so we decided to use the business center. We had to pay for the crib as well, that was also surprising. The sunset was beautiful from the beach.

We were surprised when we arrived at the age of the property. All the online reviews had been pretty good. I agree about the beach being dirty and the hotel chairs beings a long way from the water. The food was average but the staff seemed unhappy all the time and any question was met with a rude attitude. I asked the concereige about scuba diving she gave me the wrong phone number twice and the person I finally got a hold of didn't service the hotel anymore. The worse part was the size of the "suite". 2 double beds that the door hit as you entered the room and the bed linens kept getting caught in the door. The "living room / kitchen" you had to move the table to open the bed and forget about the balcony it was 4" wide. (I kid you not). My last point is the sheets and towels were like sand paper. Something that added insult to injury after getting sun burned on the beach.

The accomadations were nice. The room was clean and neat. The grounds were well maintained. Service at pool side was great and they seemed to offer lots of things for kids to do. Three pools were available, one was for adults only.(for those who do not enjoy children). I was very disappointed in the beach. The sand was not raked or grated. The beach chairs provided by the hotel were too far from the beach. You could not even see the water. I would recommend the hotel very highly but not real jazzed about the area. Enjoy Destin much better.

The convenience of the place is the draw - everything is there, beach, pools, tennis, kids club, restaurants, spa, you name it. It could be better though - the cabanas are miles from the beach, you can't see the waters edge from them which defeats the point if you have kids. The food is not great. You can only have pizza, burgers, and fries so may nights in a row. And they need to make the beach towels available at more than one location on the huge property. I felt like I spent all my time walking from the towel booth back to the beach, back to the cabana, over to the pool, etc., each walk taking a good deal of time and effort.

What a nice place! The staff were cheerful and attentive, and the facility was beautiful. The swimming pools were crowded and small, so if you prefer the pool to the ocean, then it may not be the best place for you. The kitchenette in the room saved us. We ate breakfast and sometimes lunch there and saved money. If you want a non-smoking room, clarify at check-in that your request was honored. We had to switch rooms because they didn't honor our request, or tell us about it the first time.

Nice resort that offered the basics. We were not traveling with kids but we noticed that the resort seemed to have a very nice kids program. We stayed in the breckenridge building which was one building away from the main lobby which offered the conceire service and support services. This was a little inconvient. The coffee shop was two buildings down which was about a 2 block walk. Little things like this added up to some fustration at the services that you expect to be close by. Other wise our stay was great.

We found the Tradewinds to be average. I don't think it is a 4 star hotel. Yes, it was clean and on the beach. The beach was very nice. I guess I'm comparing it to a 3.5 star hotel we stayed at in Cancun last March which was gorgeous, on the beach and all-inclusive, The Tradewinds didn't even come close. Seeing how everything was so expensive at the hotel(just the drinks were $5 bucks each or more), staying at an all-inclusive resort would be comparable in price.

Front desk staff was very accommodating in offerng the change. Concierge was wonderful and extremely helpful. Adult pool is quiet and lovely. Plenty of activities. Beach is beautiful and the free cabanas were great. The kids loved the in-house Pizza Hut. My only suggestion to the hotel was more teen-oriented activites. Can't wait to go back!!!

Just returned and we really enjoyed our stay. The location was nice and beach access was great. Our room was clean-and cleaned every day. Red tide is affecting the ocean and there are dead fish washing up on the beach, but that is a problem for not only St. Pete, but many other surrounding areas. We did the paddleboat ride, swam in the pools (one of which could have been a lot cleaner). The grounds were very nice-workers cleaning all over all day long. We were in the Breckenridge bldg. and we didn't have to wait on elevators-our friends were in another bldg. and weren't so lucky. Our experience was very positive and we would stay there again.

I picked this hotel based on the fact that rooms had a kitchenette. Boy does that come in handy with small children! The maids even washed my daughter's bottles out for me! The rooms were small but again appropriate for a crawling 1 year old - not very many places to go and we could relax not chasing after her. The cribs were very nice too. Overall it met or exceeded my expectations. Wonderful pool and beach facilties. The waterslide was great!

This was great for our needs. It was my husbnd and I and our 2 children. The hotel itself was nice and clean and the service good. Our room had a balcony that faced the garden and paddle boat lagoon. the balcony was not very private but they did have private balconies that I saw. It is probably best to call ahead to ensure one. There was a lot to do for everyone with the 5 pools, huge beach side water slide and various bars and activites on the property. The beach, however, was the highlight. It was wonderful during the day and night. Nice and spacious with cabanas and never crowded. The hotel is located on a strip filled with eateries and souvenir shops. Busch Gardens was only a 20 min drive away. The room was a suite, smaller than expected and the sleeper sofa was not the most comfortable but at least we were not all over each other like in the smaller 2 bed rooms. Overall we had a wonderful time.

The European standard of the Tradewind wouldn't be higher than three stars. The rooms and the service are very nice. The hotel is way too big and reminds me on one of the hotel complexes at the coast of Alanya/Turkey - ugly. The pool is super small and the water is murky. It is a great place for families. My insider tip is to book a hotel in Pass-a-Grille. Ten times more laid-back and beautiful than St. Pete.
