As of June 2006 all hotel public areas were under construction and the place is an awful mess with no acknowlegement or accomodation from the staff. . The location is great, the rooms are large and mine was somewhat shabby. The double beds are awful quality. I felt like I was sleeping on a cot at boy scout camp- lumpy, squeeky, and uncomfortable. When I expressed concern to the front desk there was no effort made to apologize or accomodate. Vancouver has better to offer in the same price range.

This hotel was under construction when we were there, so that was a bit of a damper. Other than that, the hotel was clean. The staff were friendly, but made some mistakes in checking us into our room. Our room had a small kitchenette with a stove, fridge, microwave, and sink, which we didn't really utilize but was nice to have. The hotel was in a somewhat questionable part of town but there were restaurants, a book store, several Starbucks, and a convenience store within walking distance. Overall, it was a fine hotel, but it was only mediocre for the price.

The Century Plaza Hotel is doing renovations, so to be fair, maybe things will get better when they are done with construction. However, the general condition of the room (which I was told had been redone) and the entire facility is really poor. The only good thing about the hotel that I can tell is its location.

Ok. We stayed here because it LOOKS like there's a kitchen in every room. WRONG. We walk in, put our things down, and notice dust all over the furniture. The carpet was very dirty, nasty dirt splotches all over the place...especially between the beds and the entrance of the room. The windows were dirty, as the bottom of the windows looked like they had a perm fog to them. No screens on the windows 24 floors up...we made the mistake of leaving the window open, to later find a bumble bee in our room. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows smelled BAD. I don't know what they smelled of, but it was gross. I lifted the couch cushions and found a mound of dirt. The blankets had holes in them. There was not enough towels and glasses for 3 people, so we had to ask for more. The way the room was arranged, it was hard to get to the closet and the window near the 2nd bed. I tried to take a nap, but there was a constant sound of someone drilling something. We had room service, and the food was completely cold...butter wouldn't even melt on my waffle. We've stayed in other places in Vancouver with better results. Keep looking! Only good side: We had a nice view of the mountains and city life in Vancouver.

This is a great hotel for the price and location. It's definitely nothing fancy, but the room was comfortable and spacious and having a kitchen/sitting area was a big plus. The location is terrific - we left the car in the garage the entire time and walked easily to Robson St., Stanley Park, and the waterfront terminal. Even went to the hotel's comedy club "Yuck-Yuck's", which was fun, cheap entertainment on a weeknight. Only negative about the hotel was an extremely hot, small bathroom.

The Century Plaza hotel is very well located in downtown Vancouver. The rooms are huge, have a small, full-equipped kitchen, clean and some of them have amazing views from the skyline of Vancouver. I was very surprised to find such a room with the range of money I spent. The only drawback I can see is that the hotel doesn't offer good breakfast. There is a cafeteria located at the lobby but it is below average.

When I stayed May 2006 the hotel lobby and 3rd floor exit to garage were still being remodeled. On my floor (25th), the public areas and my room was very nice. Basement/indoor pool was heated. There was a stream room, private showers, lockers, and restroom in a Mens only area. This was a great place to stay. There was also a kitchen with dishes which would be good for a longer stay. There was a small fee for parking.

We stayed here for three nights. The staff was quite friendly, but the lobby was under maintenance and it was really noisy. The restaurant was on a limited menu and it was a pretty unpleasant place to eat. The spa next door doesn't have a hot tub, fyi, which we expected. Overall the hotel was not impressive and our room wasn't air conditioned. I'd stay somewhere else next time, although I'm sure it's better after construction

The hotel was great from the moment we checked in. Despite arriving at 2 am, we had a bellhop grabbing our bags out of the car and taking us to our suite. The 1 bedroom suite was just like a 1 BR apartment, with a balcony and a great view of the sunset from the 26th floor. We had a problem with the internet connection in the room we were staying in, and on the second day, they upgraded us to the executive suite on the 28th floor, which was significantly larger and had an even better view of the sunset into Burrard inlet and the mountains to the North and West. Both rooms were very comfortable, very clean, lots of windows, great service. Would definitely go back.

Despite the obvious remodeling in progress, the Century Plaza Hotel was a great find! My friends and I wanted to stay in a nice place, centrally located, and one that wasn't too expensive and we found it! Due to the remodeling we were able to get a great price and were not bothered by any work that was being done. The room was very spacious with a great view. We highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is undergojng renovations and the staekhouse, lobby, and gift shop are closed. It is next to a hospital so you hear sirens day & night. It is also 1/2 a block from the YMCA so some of the crowd outside is "down on their luck" so to speak. We were hit up for $$ several times. It was cheapm the staff was courteous, and the room was clean. There is a cool market 1 block away to stock your kitchenette.

I kept returning to this hotel with every visit I made to Vancouver. Nothing in town beats it. The location is great, right in the heart of things. The staff bends over backwards and they are super friendly. The place is being renovated and that might explain the great rates. You'll get spectacular views of the city, a pool and steam room, a restaurant, an in-house spa, cable tv, kitchen facilities. All the rooms are suites, some partial but do opt for the one bedroom suite on a high floor with terrace. For a few dollars more, you will live like a king.

Large, comfortable rooms and first rate location that places all of downtown Vanc. within easy walking distance, all at a very reasonable rate. The lobby and 2nd floor is "tired"& in need of upgrading (signs posted during my stay indicated that in fact renovations would be underway shortly). The room I occupied had recently been refitted, and was very comfortable. Cleaning staff did a thorough job. This was my 3rd stay and definitely will return here again.

The kitchenette and sitting area make this room homey and more comfortable than the cramped spaces in more expensive hotels. The location is good, but if you are looking for interesting parts of Vancouver, this is not it. Downtown, where this hotel is, has fancy shops but no local flavor whatsoever. No fault of the hotel, though. There's a great grocery store nearby in case you'd like to stock your fridge.

The Century Plaza is perfectly located in the middle of Vancouver, a very short walk from many restaurants, pubs, etc. We had a problem (our fault) with the room we originally booked, but the staff were very quick and courteous about fixing it up, changed our room without any trouble at all. One problem...the sofa bed was HORRIBLE, don't plan to use it, book a bigger room. Overall an excellent place to stay.

Since my last experience with a hotel found on expedia ended bad while in the Bahamas... I was a bit worried. However, this trip and my experience at the Century Plaza was nothing but enjoyable. I ordered room service which was prompt and friendly. Room was excellent and I was fortunate to have a room with a spectacular view. The room was all comfort and the fact that I had a full kitchen to my avail was nice since the MarketPlace wasn't that far away to buy things to snack on etc. The hotel is very conveniently located and I walked everywhere... in spite of rain. This is what umbrellas are for!!! ;-)) I also used the Absolute Spa... and found that it was a relaxing experience being able to just go back up to the room afterwards. I am almost afraid going back to this hotel... realizing that my next experience may not be as good... and who wants to ruin a good thing?

Check in. Not a hello or smile from the front desk, nothing. We signed and received keys, no brief intro of hotel ammenities not even your typical, "You will be staying on floor... and your checkout will be...Thank you.", nothing. Rooms...clean but no A/C. It's August mind you. We booked online and requested a baby bed. Get to room. No baby bed. Called front desk. 45 min later, nothing. Called a second time. 20 mins later, nothing. Now I have a toddler who is cranky and we've already watched over an hour of cartoons and it's not working anymore. Go to front desk to request I pick it up myself. No luck. Sent back to my room assuring me it's on the way, 10 mins later BINGO! Now the baby is sleeping. We need ice. Go searching for it on the floor with no luck. Turns out, though there are 30 floors in the bldg, there is only 1 ice machine, and you must go downstairs to the lobby diner to request it. You must wait along side people waiting to be seated for some ice. Not good.
