| The location of this hotel is ideal because it is within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and bars of Newport. Therefore I would recommend. The size of the room was much smaller than we expected and we were given a double bed after we requested a queen. I was told they put all of the internet reservations in the smaller rooms.

| We enjoyed our stay at The Viking. The location is great for enjoying the shops and restaurants of Newport. Their in house restaurant, One Bellevue, was excellent!

| We were very happy with the hotel. We had a deluxe Neport King room which was plenty big enough. Indoor pool and jacuzzi were nice since we went in March. Location was great. Could walk to shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay again.

| Nice but expensive hotel. It's an older building, so many of the room are relatively small. The location is nicely away from the wharf area crowds, but within walking distance of almost everything in Newport. Walking is the recommended means of travel during the peak summer crowd season. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and services. We were, however, extremely disappointed with the 4th of July cookout on the rooftop. It cost $40 per person for cold, stale hamburgers, two drinks, and the opportunity to fight for a space to watch the fireworks.

| Our room amenity basket had half used bottles of water and opened candy bars. We told the front desk on arrival but nothing was done to fix it. We asked for tea bags for our room and were offered two for $5.00 if we collected them from the restaurant. The group in the bar was so amateurish it hurt to listen to it. Pity, as beds, room decor and public rooms and our meal were fine. We won't be going back.

| As a fan of the boutique hotel, this one was first rate. Beautiful grounds, excellent service, comfortable rooms. Only downfall was an air conditioner that wasn't working - but the windows did open! A must-stay if you're heading to Newport!

| Rooms above the lobby are small, old, and noisy, but clean and comfortable for the most part. Stay in the other part of the hotel if you get a chance.

| We stayed over thanksgiving when most places to eat in town were closed so we decided to stay in the hotel for dinner having been told that light meals would be served in the bar at 6.00. We got down there to be told that it was actually going to be 8.00. No apology and no effort to appease us. A great hotel though, very well situated and very comfortable. This just soured the trip a bit.

| With a wide array of choices in places to stay in Newport The Viking falls on or just below par with most normal hotels. The building was gorgeous. The room was adequate for its price(far from anything special) I guess I expected more than The Viking delivered. The staff was friendly, although locating the concierge was often difficult. If I went up to Newport again (which I plan to, the area is fantastic) I would choose to stay in one of the more lavish bed and breakfast establishments. ( just as an FYI- The Viking seems to be more of a wedding hall than a hotel ,they accomodate large wedding parties -which can be found roaming the halls throughout the night-noise level included)In the end, if you are looking for a normal hotel- this is where you want to go. If you are looking for your money worth, I suggest going elsewhere.
