While we were there the facade of the building was being worked on, as well as our floor, so there was some noise during the days, and some odours from the adhesive they were using in the hallway. Aside from that the hotel was great!

The location was great. The sevice was great. The hotel restaurant and bar were wonderful and the food was a cut above the usual hotel restaurant food. The concierge made reservations for us at other restaurants and made excellent suggestions on what to do and where to go in Amsterdam. You can even buy tickets to the major attractions at the hotel.

If you are unsure of where to stay, rest assured this is the place. The location is awesome, directly across from centraal station, a one minute walk to at least half dozen coffee shops. Hotel staff was very helpful and courteous. Room was pretty standard as far as amenities, very clean. Will stay here every time. ***** Please us this review to make your final decision, this is the place to be.

hotel is close to central station easy to get too, and dispite all the construction going around u hear nothing from your room. staff was polite and helpful. my only downside to the room was i was tld it would have a balcony, and it did not. though at 34 deg at night not sure how much time i would have spent there. this has been my 3rd trip to Amsterdam, i have stayed at the die port van cleave, and bicycle hotel. van cleave was close to everything but pricy, bicycle was cheap, but further away, i would recomend the Victoria as a happy middleground for anyone

Like alot of people, I was a little worried about staying at this hotel after some of the reviews I read. It turns out that worrying was a waste of time. The Victoria was a pleasant hotel with a top-notch staff. The location can't be beat. I arrived in a driving rain, and was so happy to see the Hotel right across the street from the train station. Amsterdam is a relatively small city, and all the "major" attractions can be reached on foot from the Victoria in under 30 minutes. If you don't like to walk, just cross the street and the cities transportation system is available to take you where you want to go. When I return to Amsterdam, I will stay at the Victoria.

This hotel is right across the street from Centraal Station. Thus all the public transport stops are only one block away. Restaurants and shopping are a block away. The hotel is being "cleaned" on the outside so the beauty of the old building is not visible. However, the service is outstanding, everyone is super friendly. We staying in the newer wing of the hotel so the room did not have much charm, but it was clean, comfortable and roomy, central AC as well. Breakfast is served for 20 Euro, a bit much and you can find better cheaper alternative in the local area. I would definately go back and recommend to anyone.

This hotel is in a great location if you are traveling through Europe via train. However, due to the fact it is by the train station, the outdoor location is busy and crowded....watch your purses and wallets! The hotel is clean and the rooms are comfortable. The downstairs bar and restaurant are extremely convenient, too!

Excellent location with the Central train station just 2 minutes walk and Dam Square just down the road (no need for taxis). This is an impressive building with clean comfortable rooms. Hotel bar is not too big with a welcoming atmosphere, ideal place to meet up for a pre-dinner drink. All staff are very helpful and as always in Holland, speak impeccable English.

Extremely handy location just across from the Central Station with Tram service available to all sections of Amsterdam. Within walking distance of many of the places we were interested in and the pre-booked tours provided a shuttle to and from Victoria Hotel. (This part was not clear on the pre-booking of the tours, but learned after we made our way to the first tour). We enjoyed the free indoor swimming pool, but did not pay to use the other athletic facilities. Did not use the eating areas of the Hotel as they were above our price range. We were very pleased with the staff and services offered by the Hotel.

Could not be more convenient to the Centraal train station. Central location made it fantastic for a short stay. Rooms are clean, well appointed and maintained. What really sets the Victoria apart is the staff, everyone from the front desk to the cleaning staff couldn't be more genuinely pleasant and helpful.

I traveled to Amsterdam at the beginning of Jan 05 and stayed at the Victoria Hotel for five nights. After originally booking the hotel I began to read a number of reviews about the hotel through various on-line services and I became less than thrilled with my choice. I honestly became nervous. Alas this was a waste of time as the Victoria turned out to be a perfectly nice place to stay. Everyone who has ever been to Amsterdam knows about the absolute convenience of the hotel's location so I will not go there. I will say that the hotel was clean, the staff friendly, and the room a decent size. I would stay at the Victoria again. Thats the best thing I can say about a hotel.

I was greeted by name, reservation and registration details were exact. My interaction with the staff was excellent. The staff coordinated a Taxi for my return to the Airport, which saved me ~5,00 EUR dollars. Depending on the logistics of my next trip to the Netherlands, I will most likely stay at the Victoria Hotel again.

Spent a night in Amsterdam, and have to say that the hotel is in the perfect location - 5 mins walk from the central station - 10 mins on the train to the airport - walking distance to all the hot spots. Consierge was excellent and recommended a great place for dinner with passes for free drinks. Would definitely go back

Step out of Central Station, cross the street and into your hotel! The have a great staff, very accomodating to storing bags etc. The rooms are modern and comfortable. With the way the streets fan out from Central Station, it's the perfect location to begin any site-seeing or partying! Anne Frank House is 10 minute walk, the Red Light District is 5 minutes, Van Gogh museum and Rijks Museum are 15 minutes.

I'd never been to AMS and was a bit put off by the hotel reviews I was reading. Well, the negative reviews were quite wrong. The Victoria is clean; has a great staff: super nice concierge and a very personable bartender. The location is perfect ~ everything is within a reasonable walking distance or take the tram at Central Station. The only disappointment was the banging of the construction going on outside the hotel. There was actually quite a bit of construction going on throughout AMS. Overall, the trip and the hotel was a 10+.

The hotel is very well situated. We travelled by train and the hotel was very near the central station. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Any questions we had were answered: directions, transportation around Amsterdam, restaurants, etc. Everyone's English was very good. We asked for a quiet room and got one without any problem. Our only complaint: we missed having a coffee maker in the room.
