The stay was comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi were clean and well maintained. The ocean front room is amazing, you can see the sun rise and sun set. You can hear the waves, and it is amazing how you can sit idle and just watch the waves and feel good. This place is about 10 mins from Kona downtown, I wish it was closer so I didnt have to park (pain sometimes).

I know it is part of the islands, but there were some cockroaches running around inside the room. The hotel itself was clean and friendly and more than willing to please.

five of us spent a week relaxing at this very accomidating hotel/condo.the location is beautiful, all the rooms appear to face the ocean which is worth every penny spent, the sounds of the waves makes for a very pleasant backdrop wether you're dinning, sleeping or just sitting on your lanai enjoying the sunset..my only complaint was that some of the palm trees seem to block that beautiful sunset,..overall service was excellent.

We were very pleasantly impressed with this hotel. We had 2 couples in a 2 bedroom suite with kitchen on the ocean side. The kitchen was fully stocked with all dishes required. The rooms were very comfortable and there was plenty of privacy. We spent a lot of time on the balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean. We also appreciated having the washer/dryer in the room. The staff were very responsive to requests for service, and the maid service was consistent and was done fairly early in the day. If you are looking for a comfortable place with plenty of space, and are not looking for the top of the line in luxury, this is the place for you. It's also convenient for going into Kona, and parking is available in the ramp under the hotel.

This was for our honeymoon. We had such a nice time and never wanted to leave. The staff was excellent and loved the room with the ocean front. It was very nice to open the door early morning and hear the ocean waves crashing. We also loved having a kitchen and the washer and dryer inside the room.

The place was very nice... but I was only there for 3 days. The room had a full kitchen, 2 baths, great lanai. It would be a perfect place for a longer stay. It's about a 2 mile (25 minute) walk to town... not too bad. Plus there is a little store just next to the hotel where you can get some necessities. The pool was nice, too... closed a bit too early though (10 pm).

The location is perfect and the room was huge - it was just my husband & I on this trip, but we've already talked about bringing our kids next time. The sunset's were beautiful, very relaxing.

Talk about a hotel exceeding our expectations! The Big Island was our last stop on a 16 day trip to HI...prior to this we stayed on Kauai, Maui, and Oahu. This facility, location, staff, grounds, and pool were excellent and this by far was the nicest place we reserved through Expedia. We actually changed our plans and decided to stay here for a few more days at the end of our trip. A few things to be aware of - there's not really a beach for swimming onsite; the beach / oceanfront behind the hotel is rocky and not a place for swimming (but there's tons of good beaches close by and the best snorkling we did on only of the islands) - they have a sand / palm tree area that sits above the beach for sunning - no onsite food (similar to most of the places on this stretch of road). The pool is great also. The grounds are very well maintained. Our room had very nice furniture, beds, pillows and two sliding doors that opened on to a patio with a great ocean view. It's a 5 minute drive to the downtown area which was fun to explore and had numerous places to eat, coffee shops, and a few bars. The Kailua Kona area was a nice surprise.

Kona By the Sea is a great place to stay. The staff is very friendly; everyone from the house cleaner to the maintenance staff. We called on a couple of maintenance items, and it seems like the staff was at our doorstep before we hung up the phone. Great service! Great location, with a sparkling pool and a nice little beach. Great sounds from the Ocean permeate your room when you open the sliding glass doors. We will stay at this condo again the next time we visit the Big Island.

The hotel/condominium is not well marked but is easy to find. The setting is very secure in that a door card is needed to access the elevator and stairs from the ground floor. The accomodations were exceptional and the view is very nice. Small to non-existant beach but has a pool and hot tub. Activities desk is on-site for ease of planning off site adventures.

This is a lovely place. We loved sitting out on the deck watching the sunset, eating brie cheese, and drinking wine. The hotel is very convenient to the places we wanted to see. The staff is very responsive to requests. Two niggling complaints: (1) being charged $1.00 for each envelop of coffee after the first morning; (2) the sporadic character of "daily" newspaper delivery. We were very happy with our stay at the Aston.

This condo hotel is, for us, a perfect place to stay. Roomy, light, well-kept condos, kitchen well stocked with necessities, quiet atmosphere and right on the ocean. Each condo had two bathrooms. Pool area was well maintained and barbeques were provided for guest use.
