This resort was not what we expected from the description. First off, we did the All-Inclusive package and it was not exactly all-inclusive. Certain menu items and drinks had premium charges and tips were expected. Most staff members were only nice if they thought you were going to tip big. The service (and selection) at most of the restaurants was not good. We waited half an hour to have our order taken while we watched 3 or 4 staff members stand around and chat. Compared to our last visit to Jamaica at another All-Inclusive resort, we were very disappointed. The only two positive things to say is that the resort is very close to the airport and many popular activities and the water park and pools are nice and kept fairly clean.

The rooms are mediocre at best, althought they are at least clean. But the bathrooms are so old and delapidated you don't even want to shower there. The pool & slides were very cool, but the pool bar was aweful. The drinks were not good, the bar itself was dilapidated, and they played music over horrible busted speakers that made us cringe. They also didn't have tradition floats to sun on. They only had tubes for the slides. I also wish they would have anchored floats for the ocean. Also, we were treated with some snobery because we did not have the all inclusive package. If you go to get food you are going to pay for they are on you -- "escorting" you to the register. That was horrible. On a good note, they have a scuba diving instructor who is awesome.

This was our second visit to this hotel. The first time (about 5 or 6 years ago)we were disappointed that the water was not crystal clear and they told us they were dredging for construction of other hotels. We decided to give it a second try and the beach water was not crystal clear again. We like to snorkel and only had two days where the water was clear enough to see some fish. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay. We brought our two grandsons with us and they had a great time.

I am from Cincinnati, OH and this is my third time in visiting Jamaica and my first time staying at the Rose Hall resort. This resort is very beautiful with a spectacular view of the ocean. The rooms are in the process of renovation in which I was able to take a tour of the rooms that already been completed (nice). The staff was very helpful and every staff member was very pleased to serve you. If you ever get the opportunity to visit Jamaica, please remember to tip the staff for their service. This is a very poor country and the average Jamaica only makes $50.00 US every week, which is nothing to live on. I cannot wait to go back next year.

The hotel was shabby, worn, & abused. The guests themselves wreck the rooms & common areas. We saw people dumping their sandy shoes out on the carpet in the lobby, spilling food on stairways, using room towels at the beach & in general disrespecting the property. Our room had damage & distruction that was not made by accident. With the volume of guests they cannot possibly keep up with the damage the guests cause. I was embarassed at the disregard guests showed. Coming from a country of excess & privelidge I was ashamed of my fellow traveler's behavior. However, the grounds were beautiful. Yard maintainence was visible daily. Pool areas & beach were clean each morning. Again, the staff could not keep up with the cups guests left everywhere, spilled food by the pool, & trash on the beach. My husband, I & 6 year old son loved the beach & pool. Lazy river & swim up bar is our idea of relaxation! Do not expect any friendliness or hustle in the service here. That is not the Jamaican way. No 'CHEERS'theme song,'..where everybody knows your name'. But, when spoken to, staff was polite and helpful. We're from the south Arizona desert. I didn't think we would feel the heat. Wrong. We felt the heat & humidity big time. But we're all sporting excellent tans! Loved this trip and hated it, but am definately glad we did it!

This was our 1st trip to Jamaica and we loved it. The resort was awsome and so were the people who worked there. Plenty of things to do without having to leave the resort. All inclusive was the way the only way to go. I felt sorry for those who had to charge all their food and drinks to their room. You could'nt walk 30 yards without running into a bar or a restraunt. The only thing we did not like were the pushy American tourists who had "spoiled". It made me be extra nice to resort staff, which in turn made our trip unforgetable. Please tip no matter what. Even when they say its included.

The service was okay, the water slides were nice for the kids. Food was okay. The rooms were dirty, the bathroom stunk and there were ants in the room when we arrived. I woke up every night itching and had to take a shower. When we got home, we realized why... we brought FLEAS back with us from the hotel room. I am totally disgusted by this. I would not recommend this hotel. If you are going, take a bomb with you!

I went with my husband, 2 children, mother and sister. We stayed 4 nights, wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel was very clean and family oriented, its a great place to go if you have children. Mine are 7 and 9 and they loved it, they said that would rather go there again then to walt disney world. The food was great (go all inclusive if you can) it is kind of expensive other wise. Drinks are also expensive but they are good also. The service was wonderful, the people there are very helpful and polite. They have a salon in the resort were people can get their hair braided, my daughter had this done and was so happy, it kept her hair looking nice during the trip also. They also have different tours that you can go on, we went on the shopping tour (it was a definate experience) I would do it again but you have to know how to tell people NO, everyone wants to see you something, it is alot cheaper then buying suveniers on the resort, and an experience you would not forget. I also recommend going through the Rose Hall Great House, this was also interesting. Have a good trip.

We had a great time at Rose Hall in Jamaica. Granted, that I have never stayed anywhere else in Jamaica before and this was the first time that we have flown as a family. We have taken several cruises to the general area. So I knew that I would like it. I blindly chose this resort because of the affordability and the water park which is located on this property. We did not do the all-inclusive because of the cost. I don't regret it either. The first night we just tried to figure out what to do. Then we got smart. I had a taxi driver stop by a local supermarket and picked up a few staples. The food at the resort was not worth the price. However I would do it again, non-inclusive. We had lots of fun with the staff and enjoyed the entertainment. The only complaint my husband had was that he felt a little isolated and wished that there was something within walking distance of the resort. Otherwise no complaints here.

I want to start off by saying I went to Jamaica to celebrate my 34th birthday! I mentioned to our housekeeper that it was my birthday, and when we returned to the room later that evening....I found she left me a little birthday care package....which she didnt have to do. Me and one of my closest friends opted for this hotel after careful reviews. I must say that the hotel was very secure considering they were under reconstruction due to flood damage. We did not do the all inclusive deal because we wanted to appreciate the "native" cooking for downtown. Eventho I enjoyed the resort and the staff...I do not think I will be going back to Jamaica again....until I hit the lottery!

The hotel looks the part from the outside but is falling apart. In June '06 they had not fixed the roof from a storm 15 months earlier. They can only keep going with the package tours from the UK which derives limited income. If you are not all inclusive you get the worst of both worlds paying high prices to subsidise the package tourist and getting average to poor service. The up market restaurant was the only redeeming factor.

My family really enjoyed our stay at Rose Hall. It is a wonderful 3.5 star hotel, it is not a 4 or 5. Nevertheless, it was clean and the grounds are beautiful. The Jamaican hospitality was great. My 7 year old son loved the water park and beaches. It was great to partake in the beach activities for no extra cost. We went Kayaking for no extra cost, just a tip. The food was good, Dunn's River Falls was awesome, a must do. We also went to Negril to see the cliff divers. Don't just hang at the resort, there are really cool things to do for a small fee you can take a private van to Ocho Rios and Negril. Although, Montego Bay is awesome there is lots to do and see outside of Rose Hall. If you choose to stay at Rose Hall, it is beautiful and the staff have many activities scheduled. It is a great value and a wonderful hotel. I will be back and recommend it to others.

We were very disappointed. First, hotel is on the verge of looking run-down. Second, the staff could care less about service. You wait and wait at bars and restaurants. Most pool activities were not well organized. We heard that this hotel was being taken over by another group who plans on putting millions into renovations. I will be checking back in two years or so to see what has been upgraded. Another thing, the hotel limits you to "elegant attire" at two of the restaurants, so if your kids didn't bring nice pants, forget it. No shorts allowed no matter how good they look. The best part of this hotel was the water park for the kids. Also kids camp did a nice job.

Although the hotel is undergoing a change in ownership, I still recommend this hotel. Close to downtown. Plenty of excursions on hand to sign up for. Tentative staff. Very friendly and helpful/eager to please. If traveling without kids, I would not recommend the all inclusive plan - who eats $100 per day worth of food? Go to the Hip Stripe (10 min away- great local food at the Pelican and The Native restaurants. The beach is nice, the golf course too. However, taxi service is pricey. If you do not mind riding w/ others to split the fare to ride downtown, then go for it. Best excursion is the Negril all day trip - best bang for the buck to experience it's beautiful 7 mile beach. I come here 2x's a year. They'll see me again in July.

great food, lots of variety, 5 places to eat--tried them all except Italian (didn't go to Jamaica to eat Italian food). Even tried their 5 star restaurant across the street on golf course (free van shuttle)--you can eat on the outside terrace by candlelight; kids welcomed. Beach is very smooth sand; areas under the palm trees or umbrellas to get out of the sun. However it was never umbearably hot since there were wonderful tropical breezes all the time. We all loved the Lazy River Pool. Make sure you take advantage of the free events at the hotel: guided nature walk and talk on history of Jamaica. Room was very clean, comfortable beds, and nice view of both ocean and golf cours.

This hotel has lots of kids and lots of weddings going on. I say that to say it's not a quiet hotel, but there's plenty to do and I would go back. The staff is professional but remember you are in Jamaica and not America, so customer service is a little different. If you can eat out and not in the hotel I would do that. All the hotel's resturants take only your room key as a charge card, and honestly they are pricey. It's easy to rack up a big bill, I learned that the first time. This is my second time at this hotel and I would go back. Word of advise ask the hotel are they doing any repairs before hand.

The constuction was above our floor and it woke us up every day. The restaurants all close during certain lunch hours like 11-12:30pm and late afternoon and there is nowhere to eat during those times. The beach is terrible. You can walk up about 100 yards out and the water level only goes up to your waist. The beach is not in great condition either.
