| Enjoyed this hotel in every way. Quiet, nice area, with breakfast dining room. Ask for a room away from the staircase, however, if you don't want to be awakened by late night noise.

| Hotel is in a great location, small street between two large thoroughfares with multiple metro lines within 3 blocks. Request a room off of the street; as the interior air well echos every noise from the late night noises to the early morning kitchen set-up. Cracking a window is a must since the rooms heat up fast without air conditioning.

| The hotel needs urgently a refurbishing. Although we asked for a non-smoking room, when we arrived our room smell a lot to cigarrette. The beds are super old (one was broken) and the hallways were smelly. There are other several hotels in the same price range that are cleaner and nicer. We were very dissapointed!!

| I stayed three nights in a single room and found it and the rest of the hotel to be clean, quiet, modern, and handled by a friendly, helpful staff. Its location is convenient to the nearby Metro and the Air France Bus Service from the airports. The 10 Euro breakfast which includes three cereal choices, juice, apple sauce, yogurt, as well as the rest of the usual French breakfast of croissants, baguettes, soft cheese and jam, coffee, tea, or milk, served in a relaxed, quiet atmosphere is good value for the price. The only potential drawback exists for those requiring a hard mattress.

| The superb location of this hotel makes up for tiny showers and tinier elevator. Hotel is simple but clean.Easy 10 minute walk to Port Royal RER station and train to airports. Also most left bank sites easily accessible. Choice of several metro stops. Huge selection of cafes, restaurants, bars in a very lively area.

| The rooms were comfortable and nicely priced. The 3 star rating may be a bit of a stretch, but the room was fine and the staff were nice. It is an easy walk to the Montparnasse train/metro station. Rue Stanislas is only about two blocks long, but it's right off Blvd. de Montparnasse, about two blocks from the station. (The elevator is really tiny too, not that that's a problem...)

| Great place to stay in Paris for the price. It is convenient to the Metro station and walking distance to the Latin Quarter. The room was small (like most European hotel rooms), clean, beds felt like giant foam pads, but we slept well. Large bathroom with very small shower stall. CNN, CNBC and a British channel on the TV. Hotel staff was pleasant.

| It was small and quiet, but two blocks from 3 metro stations--the staff was competent and friendly and the "petit dejeuner" was splendid! The strong French coffee and fresh croisants-ooo, la la! For a quiet, budget conscious, clean place to stay in Pari, this is it!!!

| We live in Europe and travel to Paris several times/year. This is a perfectly adequate but nonetheless "barebones" hotel, with minimal rooms, friendly front desk(actually only the 58ish French woman was friendly), and v good location if you want close to left Bank and on bus route to Galerie Lafayette/Opera, etc. (bus no. 68 on Blvd Raspail is about 1 1/2 min walk, also Montparnasse metro is about 5 mins). For us, though, other than the location - and there are numerous others in this area too - there is nothing special about this hotel, there are hundreds like it in Paris. The rooms/public space could and should be spruced up a bit (lighting in room was terrible, for example, impossible to read at all unless you come equipped with miner's lamp!) and the breakfast was mediocre and a rip-off at 10 Euros/person for croissant/baguette, packaged yoghurt, coffee, orange juice, and butter/packaged jam. No fruit, no cheese, not to mention meats, etc. It is true that it is difficult to find a Paris hotel with a good "German or Scandinavian" breakfast, but the Residence Montparnasse certainly does not offer it.

| This hotel is very good for the experienced independent traveler that wants to use their time out in Paris and have a place to sleep and freshen up. It is clean, comfortable, (mattresses could be upgraded), and friendly. The staff was helpful and always had a smile for us. The common area bar is not well stocked, but acceptable. Nice secluded common sitting area for reading or quiet conversation. Did not take advantage of their breakfast. Lift is typically small and will be a fun rememberence of your trip.

| As the other reviewer pointed out this is a great location to use as a home base to explore Paris from. The neighborhood is full of cafes, restaurants and movie theaters. Also close to several big shopping streets if that is your thing. The area is known as a student hangout due to its proximity to several universities. Overall a safe, convenient and interesting neighborhood. As for the quality of the hotel, it was nothing fancy but perfectly decent for its value. Regarding the tiny elevators, they are standard in almost all old Parisian buildings and are nothing unusual. Many if not most hotels in old buildings have teeny tiny elevators (if they have elevators at all).

| The hotel was excellent - for the price. While certainly not a top-notch hotel, the people, cleanliness, location and price were excellent. Our only complaint is that the beds are too soft. We have stayed in the Residence Montparnasse before, and undoubtedly will again.

| The hotel was ok, decent service but i felt really "cramped up". For example, the "elevator" can only take ONE PERSON with A SMALL SUITCASE!!! The rooms are clean but really really small. Overall, it's not bad but i don't think you're getting your money's worth.

| The accomodation was as expected for a small 2-3 star hotel in Paris. The accomodation and service were basic and sufficient.Next door were two great restaurants, both of which we visited, and there were lots of great cafes, restaurants and shops in the area.We could walk to much of the center of Paris, including the Left Bank, Latin Quartier, Notre Dame and the Louvre. There were several Metro stations very close by, with good connections to the city and the Gare du Nord.
