| This was a grand hotel, at one time, and still has some great charm. Unfortunatly, it has not been restored to full "three star or better" status. Beds are good, staff is very hard working, clean enough (except for floors that they don't use).

| In it's glory days this hotel must have been one of the best in town. Today, demolishing seems the only option left...

| Scary neigborhood. Rooms freezing, could not control the temperature. Carpet old and disgusting. Not ready for late check in, wanted to put my son and I in separate rooms. Checked out the next morning.

| Our room at this hotel was in terrible condition. The walls and ceiling of the closet were falling in, the water was running in the bathroom sink because you couldn't shut it off, there was not one waste basket in the room, the smell of the hotel and the room is indescribable - a curry smell would best describe it. We will NEVER stay there again or we would recommend it to anyone. If our arrival hadn't been so late, we would have stayed elsewhere and forfeited our money it was that bad.

| The hotel is not a three star hotel. The hotel is located in a grand old building that needs a major restoration. I hope the condition of the facility gets better because it could be a grand old hotel.

| I'm a pretty understanding person but this was a little much. Granted it was January and 20 degrees outside but the heat was woefully lacking. The "historic" design of the hotel was quaint but in need of cosmetic maintenance. The shower, although warm enough, had inadequate water pressure. There was no "do not disturb" sign and when the houskeeping staff was asked to return later, they never did even though I left the room approx 1130am. It was surprisingly affordable but I guess I got what I paid for (not really). If I'm not mistaken expedia rated this hotel at three stars and if I'm correct in stating that, this hotel was not even close.

| The lobby is great but the rooms leave much to be desired. When we got to our room my sister went to use the bathroom, and got locked in (the handle would not turn). After 4 calls to the front desk and 45 minutes, I finally jimmied the door open with a credit card since they did not send anybody to help us.

| This is a very, very old building. We ended up going from room to room. The first room the sink was filthy and stopped up - and the television did not work. The second room, the lock was broken. When we went back down to the front desk for, we thought, another key, the clerk gave us yet another room. While we were waiting in line for that, she assigned the people in front of us the first room we had!! The room we ended up in was marginally clean, however, the tub was stopped up. It took an hour for it to drain after my daughter took a shower so I had to wait to take mine. The heat is old steam heat - it was cold the entire time we were there. You could practically see your breath in the lobby. It is also not in the best neighborhood. It's proximity to Cobo Hall is the only thing going for it. Completely way, way overpriced!! If we had not reserved through Expedia, we would have demanded our money back and gone elsewhere!

| My stay at this was absolutely wondeful, the check in process occurred in minutes as the desk clerk was able to verify all my information from what i had reserved through expedia.com only 2 days prior. As to the room it was absolutely spotless nothing to complain about.

| This hotel was most definitely NOT a 3-star hotel, more like a 0-star. No room service. Room was large but run-down and not clean. The couch (which was a futon) had a stain the size of a large pot, the carpet in a non-smoking room had burn marks all over, the bathroom ceiling was moldy - it was a gross room!! When we first entered the room, it was like a sauna, so we turned on the airconditioning and open a window in 13 degree weather.

| I wish that I could phrase this review in a manner that would at least offer some positive points; alas I could think of none! I'll get past the fact that the picture of the hotel appears to represent a decent looking building, but once we saw it in person, we were very disappointed. The entrance and lobby of the hotel offers a cold and dreary welcome. Upon check in (3pm) we were informed that our rooms were not ready, which confused me b/c once we checked in (4pm) and entered our room it appeared that only the beds were made and everything else was still in shambles. I would love to go into detail of the horror we experienced once we entered our room, but unfortunate I lack the descriptive writing skills to do so. I will say this though; you could have used the rooms in the hotel Ramada as the set for the next Wes Craven Horror Movie. Never in my life have I felt more uncomfortable in a hotel room than I did for that one night stay. Needless to say I slept in my clothes covered from head to toe for 2 reasons 1.Fear of catching some sort of communicable disease 2.It was so cold in the room that I thought that the Ramada was making additional revenue storing meat for a butcher. I normally do not write reviews, but I felt the need to write this review to express my total disgust for this hotel. If this review can at least influence one person in not booking this hotel, I would have successfully completed my life long goal of contributing a positive effect for society
