We checked in early so our room wasn't available however they gladly offered us another room. It had a great view of the Gulf. The hotel is directly on the beach. Our last day we had the opportunity to see a dolphin. Oh, seashell hunting is a common pasttime on the beach. The room was like a small apartment complete with refrigerator, dishes, silverware and a microwave. The room was very clean and looked fairly new. The staff and everyone we encountered were very friendly. Michelle at the front desk called that afternoon to welcome us and offered to assist with anything my family or I needed. That was a nice touch. Each even numbered floor has vending (soda) machines, ice, and laundry services. There was a nonsoda vending machine on the ground level in the parking deck area. There is a hotel rep available at all times on the ground level with information on attractions, etc. in the area. The resturants at the hotel had great food. We ate at Chloe's for breakfast each morning. Sunday is the only day they serve a buffet style. We had lunch a couple times at the Cabana Beach bar and grill (ground level of the hotel). 9$ for a cheesburger (with fries) seemed high at first but it didn't seem too unreasonable once you visited the other places to eat in the area.

Diamond Head is a very nice hotel. We had a couple of problems with our room but the staff was great about fixing the problems. The only shortage of staff is at the Cabana Bar next to the pool. The beach wasn't too great but that was because the recent tropical storm brought in some algae that was dying and smelling up the beach. It affected the whole region. Nearby resturants were great to explore.

We arrived early at 12pm, checkin wasn't until 3, so our room wasn't ready yet. So we changed into our beach cloths, checked our bags and headed onto the beach right in front of the hotel. They said they'd call us on my cell phone when the room was ready, and they did within the hour. The room was terrific, a suite with a large balcony looking out onto the Gulf on one side and the bay on the other. We had our 14 year old son with us so he slept on the pull out sofa in the main room and we had the private bedroom (each had their own TV). We were surprised they had a mini kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee pot. Next time we'll stay for a week instead of just a weekend. I'd like to comment on the Sunday buffet brunch they served in Chloe's dining room. My son loved the self made waffle station and the fresh omelet station. The fresh sqeezed OJ was great as it should be in Florida. It was really a great deal for the price. The next day we ordered room service for breakfast, which was brought up hot and promptly. We could have eaten our breakfast outside on the balcony since they had a table and chairs there too, but we got washed out the whole weekend due to Tropical Storm Alberto. Florida had 60 straight days of sunshine and we picked the one weekend when they get their first storm. We still had a great time though. We walked down to Ft. Meyers Beach pier the first night the rain let up, to see a beautiful sunset. I can't wait to go back.

We really liked the Diamondhead. As a family of four, the bedroom and the kitchen was a great feature. The hotel was within walking distance to many restaurants and the beach was great! The only downfall was that the atmosphere was a little "spring break"ish for us. We went during the off season, so the "spring break" feeling is probably really apparent during the high seasons.

If you're looking for a great place to sit by the pool and be served great tasting chilled drinks all day... this is the place to go. When we checked in we had every intention of participating in at least one of the local excursions offered (parasailing, sunset cruises, dolphin seeing trips) but we found ourselves rarely wanting to leave the property. We spent most of our days next to the pool or walking on the beautiful Gulf beaches. Very Relaxing if thats what youre looking for.

My wife and I went to Diamondhead for a three day weekend for "r" and "r". We picked the perfect spot. The Gulf of Mexico is the obvious attraction here. Our room faced the Gulf with a huge balcony. It was large enough that there are two patio doors going out to the balcony including one in the bedroom. The balconies are screened in. This was a great feature. Most of our time in the room was spent with the patio doors open so we could enjoy the ocean, which is a short distance from the hotel. The pool was small but well maintained with a great outdoor bar and grill just steps away. There was a convention and a large wedding party at the hotel while we were there. This was barely noticeable because there are large banquet rooms and friendly helpful staff that cared for the special needs of each group. Chloes is restaurant at the hotel. The restaurant is upscale with a good staff and a great chef. The menu changed daily and the seafood was great. The front desk staff friendly and helpful. We are going back to this hotel next year.

The hotel is on the beach and the rooms look out on the Gulf. The umbrellas are old and worn out. The people are nice and the food at this hotel is better than most other places on the Island.

What a nice time! While taking pictures of the sunset in the Gulf Coast from the 12th floor, a visitor from New York explained "it's not exactly what I saw on the website, but it's nice." Her statement was true. The resort isn't as extravagant as billed on their webiste, but it met our price range and we actually reached a peak of "restfullness". Exactly what we needed. We were taken aback by the inner hallways, open to the gulf coast air. They're not very decorative, but they're open to the outside and I can see why they would need a maintainence free appearance. Once in the suites, they were really nice. Best hotel bed I think I've ever had! The beach access is fantastic and my favorite part... this is our first vacation where not one soul was promoting another hotel on the street or the beach. No nagging sales pitches while you're trying to vacation. You could do what you were there for... relaxation! The staff was very helpful and courteous. This is the first hotel I've ever had someone call the room after check-in, just to make sure we were happy! We do plan to visit again.

My wife and I just returned after staying for 5 days in April (26th-30th). The one bedroom suite is about 700 total square feet. The room was nice but showing some wear and tear. Walls needed paint and the bathroom was showing its age. The screened in porch was graet and allowed us to open the doors at night while we slept. We really enjoyed The hotels beach bar and grill called Cabanas. Great frozen drinks! The hard working staff and was very friendly. It's to bad that they stop serving food at 5:00pm and close down at 8:00pm. The hotel recommends making reservations at their restraunt called Chloe's and we did just that. It really didn't matter to the poorly trained and rude hostess when we arrived and found out that reservations for a window table are not guaranteed. The pool was nice but a little small. The outdoor jacuzzis were okay but seated a little to high and the jets are not real strong. We had a hard time grabbing chairs in the sun, espically when the shadows from the hotel cover more than half of the pool area. Lastly, don't worry about the fire alarms not working, we had just arrived and the alarms activated throughout the hotel. First time ever that we had to evacuate a hotel. We were more than a little annoyed waking up to the reving of motorcycles at the motorcycle repair shop across the street from the hotel.Truly a three star hotel!

Proposed to my girlfriend on the beach, walked up to the resort and was in the restraunt within 2 minutes (I had reservations). Stayed at the hotel that night on the top floor (room 1210). I reccomend this room over any other room in the resort! We sat on the balcony drinking champaign and looking all the way down the beach. We went back down and sat on the beach later. Everything was great! Oh Yeah, she said yes!

Stayed during Spring Break time in March 2006. The hotel was crowded, never any chairs available by pool. The hotel was ok but a bit pricey. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is close enough to the pier to walk to for dinner, etc. The pool was a bit small, the beach was nice. Be prepared for long waits driving to and from hotel, only one main road with one lane in each direction.

Excellent service desk in terms of recommending golf courses in advance and secuing tee times. The private Crown Colony course, designed by Donald Ross, is one of the best maintained, the highest quality, the most attractive and was the most difficult in the Eastern US. One may leave the doors open all night and fall asleep to the sound of the waves on the shore - heaven. Great non-chlorinated pool. Spacious suites but bed was a bit too soft. A cigar smoking balcony-sitter necessitated a room change - but front desk was very helpful. I do wish they would implement a policy of keeping smokers on one side of the bldg so as not to inflict the smoke on all the other patrons.

Location is great - right on the Gulf. Good sized pool with restaurany/bar. The suites are good-sized with an enourmous balcony. Ours was an inside corner suite and had a 30'x 8' balcony. We stopped at a grocery store on the way and loaded up with goods to keep in the fridge. The kitchen has all you need - plates, cups, silverware, etc. It's about a half mile walk into town with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, ice cream, etc. Head north on the beach to the pier for nice sunset views. I'd go back in a heartbeat - best spot on Ft. Myers Beach.

No major complaints. Some minor ones -- elevators rarely worked, the "slide in the wall" door between the bedroom and the bathroom was stiff and hard to open/close (we opted to leave it closed and use the door from the living area to the bathroom), Sunday breakfast buffet was a dissapointment, piano bar never actually has anyone playing the piano, the poolside bar closes too early (but there was hardly anyone there so that could be why). Aside from that our stay was nice. The pool and hot tub were enjoyable. The room was comfortable. The beach was very nice (the sand there is softer then I have ever seen). From what I could tell this was the best option in the gereral vicinity. Nicer hotels seemed to be further South and farther away from activities. If you are looking for top notch service and ammenities I would go elsewhere, but if you just want a nice relaxing time at the beach, this hotel was a good option considering the price and the location.

The service was impeccable as well; thoughtful touches like free use of a crib, and you really felt like they cared how your stay was. All these things help to overlook the minor issues--$26/per day use of hotel beach chairs (seriously?) and a few small holes in the comforter and balcony screen. Overall a great stay!

Overall this was a pretty good place to vacation. Beach & pool access were outstanding (although you have to pay for the beach lounge chairs-which was surprising.) The suite arrangement is spacious and having a kitchenette is very convenient for coffee/breakfast items etc. The room was very clean & daily service included refreshing the coffee supply/cleaning the kitchen area well. However we noted another guest's room service tray remained on the floor by the elevator for 3 days. Yuck on that. On-site parking was readily available and we enjoyed our spacious balcony with pool/beach views.
