There are good things and bad things about this hotel. On the positive side is the price. It is reasonably priced for what you get. Free breakfast and internet access (wired) is included, which are good benefits for a business traveler. The room is spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the location provides good access to Washington DC and surrounding areas. On the negative side, the hotel is old and rough around the edges. It needs paint on some inner walls and the carpet was a bit old and tattered in places. The breakfast room is way too small and most people had to stack what they could onto a plate and go back to their rooms. For some reason, the bar area of the room was roped off and the staff told anyone sitting there that it was off-limits. This hotel is recommended if you need a clean, comfortable bed, free internet access in your room, a free breakfast, and easy access to the highway. Not recommended if you are looking for fresh, new paint and modern architecture.

The first thing we noticed was how friendly and helpful the staff were at the front desk. Gave us good directions. The Studio Suite was large, clean and comfortable with a full sized, fully equipped kitchen. Nice clean pool. Had a very good dinner in the restaurant. There was some type of function going on in the restaurant and it was a little loud. Convenient to the major highways into Washington and all areas of Alexandria. One personal complaint was the pillows were really soft. Overall, a great deal for the price.

The Hotel is obviously taking steps to upgrade the facility, which is older, but clean and well kept. The suite we stayed in had pleanty of room, a kitchen with all the utensils and such we would need, including a tray to bring up breakfast. Not being able to control climate in the room could be a problem, but was not for us. The water pressure in the shower was weak in the shower, which was a dissappointment. However, a good leasurely continental breakfast in the morning helped ease those feelings away.

This hotel is not fancy, but for the money and size of the rooms, it's a great bargain in the D.C. area. We had a one bedroom apt.(this hotel is converted apt. complex) which was very roomy. Rooms and hotel are clean, service was good, big pool. Continental breakfast included for free. Nice about taking you to closest Metro station, free. We would stay in it again.

The staff at Washigton Suites is so friendly. Additional needs were delivered to my room immediately. Safe and comfortable for families. Shuttle to the metro was always available and on time. I can't say enough good things about the week spent here. The only small thing that needs improvement is the size of the room for the continental breakfast.

My husbad and I did not know what to expect as we have typically stayed in higher end hotels for our business travels; and have typically gone on cruises to celebrate our anniversary. We were pleasantly surpised that the pictures displayed on the website accurately reflected the hotel and our jr. suite. It was a nice place to relax, with great access to major highways, malls and restaurants. The continental breakfast is a very nice addition to the room cost. We traveled to DC two of the 5 days we stayed. It took about 15/20 minutes, but timing is everything (smile).

Although the hotel was old, it was very clean and comfortable. The staff worked hard to accommodate us. The continental breakfast was very good - plentiful with a lot of variety. The staff was seen replenishing the dishes often when they ran low. The first night our floor was very noisy with children running up and down the hall until 11:30 at night. Once we called the main desk they sent a security guard up to the floor and the noise stopped. We requested a different floor the second night. The staff accommodated our request and the second night was much quieter. The shuttle to the Metro station was convenient for traveling into D.C.

Having grown up in DC, it is always an adventure coming back. This hotel makes a great base camp for any adventure. The room is huge, with a separate sleeping area, living room, office area and kitchen - mind you: it's nothing fancy and a bit dated, but it gets the job done! The service is friendly and responsive and the shuttle is a big plus if you need to access the Metro. Bonus: great neighborhood with lots of shopping and dining joints right around the corner.

Large suite included a kitchenette and was great for our family of four. I believe these are converted apartments. The place is a little worn but clean. We had very good luck with the Metro shuttle service. The staff was friendly but somewhat limited in its ability to address issues. Our room only had 3 pillows and when I requested a 4th I was told that housekeeping had left for the night and they couldn't give me a pillow, so I had to sleep the first night without one. Even though they said I would get one the next day, it didn't arrive until I called and asked again (she said they would be able to get me one if the hotel wasn't sold out - figure that one out!). The coin laundry was very convenient but expensive. The change machine was broken and the front desk was out of quarters until our second night there, and the local businesses won't sell quarters (get ready for some rude service once you leave the hotel). The hotel restaurant was fine and the breakfast buffet was convenient though limited. This hotel met our needs but just a little effort from the hotel management would make a big difference in the overall experience.

Had no problems getting to the Metro, however upon trying to return to the hotel, there was no way back. Spent about 10 minutes waiting and numerous phone calls that were not answered. Front desk said speak to the management. Overall great place for the money. Also great if traveking with children enough room for the family!

This hotel has the potential to be much better than it is. Service is excellent. The hotel lobby inviting. The restuarant sells good food. The continental breakfast is a nice touch and the suites are spacious. The problem is the maintenace of the rooms. Spider webs in the corners of the room. Particulary near air vents. Furniture is laminated and that is chipping. Beds need updating, they tend to be lumpy. Sheer inside curtains are missing in the bedrooms. Other times curtains were torn and soiled. Furniture cushions were stained and busted. The carpet was in good shape and the bathroom was clean. It is located near shopping and dining and not far from tourist attactions. They make it convenient for you to get to the attractions by provinding shuttle sievice.

The suite was clean, spacious, comfortable. We had to order a rollaway bed after first night and was told when ordering there would be no charge but upon receiving bed was told there would be a $10 per night charge. However, everything else went fine...continental breakfast was varied and tasty..not just your usual donuts and coffee. Would stay there again. Friendly staff..no problem with transportation to metrorail...However, driver was multitasked between driving and hotel maintenance. Waited no longer than 10 - 15 min. usually.

The hotel is quite old, inside and out, and could use some modernization. It appears that they have made some renovations, but to truly deserve the 3 star rating, I think that they need to make many more. The hotel was clean. The rooms are suites and are quite roomy (with full kitchens-albeit very old). The location is excellent as it is accessible to major highways, shopping and restaurants. If your expectations for a hotel itself are low to mid range, or you simply need a place to lay your head, then this is a great hotel. I also suspect that it would be a nice hotel for someone with children because of the full kitchen. However, if you enjoy "experiencing" hotels and seek a higher quality, this is not the place to stay.

While the hotel is an old apartment building and it is somewhat dated, I didn't have a problem with the accomodations or the staff. The rooms were large enough to be comformtable despite the sparce furnishings and outdated decor. The staff also seemed very eager to make my stay a positive experience. My only real concern was with the van drivers who always seemed to be on the verge of road rage. I wouldn't mind staying there again if I'm ever in the area.

Stayed for a family vacation with our two boys, age 9 & 12. This hotel is past its "glory" days but is clean and well cared for. The rooms are very large, the bedroom had an extra tv which was great. Great to come back to and crash after a long day of sight seeing. Free breakfast and free parking saved us $$. The kitchen was convenient for sandwhiches etc, but I would not try to cook anything in it as it was not very well stocked and the stove was questionable. It is located less than a mile from the freeway and about 10 minutes from DC. This hotel was perfect for our stay in its location, size and comfort.

Not that we were expecting to be impressed, but the overall quality of this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Front desk help was generally and consistently poor. Room smelled like cigarrette smoke, although we requested a non-smoking room. We had to bring our own luggage in, as there was absolutely no one there to help us. There were construction workers re-doing one of the elevators during day hours and in and out of the lobby area. Overall impression was that this place is not very clean and not guest friendly at all.

This hotel has nice big rooms but we had some problems with our room assignments. The first room we were assigned was either on top of or right next to the nightclub which was playing loud music and the whole room was vibrating. The second room had a bunch of painter's equipment in it, and smelled like fresh paint. Our third room finally was up to snuff. Full kitchen with microwave, full-size fridge and gas stove. 2 TV's and a bedroom with a door so we could put our son to sleep and still watch TV in the living room. Clean but not incredibly quiet, as it only had single-pane windows.

The size of the suites (we had a double one) is amazing and was great for the 5 person family we are (with baby). Amenities are good, and location works fairly well. Traffic to Washington is terrible at almost any time of day - so the shuttle to the Metro is a great thing. Watch out for AC / heating in fall and spring - they can only pipe in hest or air controlled by the hotel, and it takes them days to decide which it is. So April with 70s and 80s meant a somewhat warm room without AC. Front desk service left soemthing to be desired - I was billed for the room after paying through expedia for example - and they spent more time talking amongst themselves than helping guests. Still a good deal for a larger family

The front desk had to be the worst service I've ever seen at a hotel. There was a number of times I stood at the front desk for at least 5 minutes waiting for someone to help me. Most of the vending machines were broken including the change machine for laundry, so I was unable to do laundry. The restaurant service was also unfriendly. We were a party of 6 and there was a party of 3 dining. The waitress didn't come to the table much. The room service was absoulutely ridiculously overpriced for the amount of food you got. The portions were smaller from room service than if you went to the restaurant yourself. That's a rip off. The only thing that was commendable was the housekeeping. They did a wonderful job. Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend anyone stay there.
