| I spent a week at the Waikiki Banyan with two very hard to please nineteen year olds and they loved it. It was home-away-from-home and that is why it worked for us. Staff were extremely courteous and helpful --leaving you with the impression that it was not because they had to be, but because they genuinely wanted to be. My teens are revisiting in Feb. for spring break and have chosen the Banyan again--I think that says it all.

| I must admit that this was not one of the finer places I have stayed while traveling. The room was relatively clean, but the carpet was blue/brown and the furniture is a bit dated. To the credit of the hotel, they are updating many of the rooms. Maybe it will be better once they do. The water was turned off for a while one day.

| I had case of jet lag as well as a bad cold that had set in a few days before my vacation. But the hotel receptionist at the front desk seem rather pushy and rude at check in. I had to ask her questions to find where to park my car and how much a day. And where the location of the room is. They need to catch up on some of the maintenance in the room. The Bathtub faucet was leaking all the time. There was rust stains on the tub as well.Plan on getting up early because the curtains do not block any sunlight.Better get a small car because the parking garage spaces are tight and be careful driving in there with the tight turns on going up each level.

| Just spent 1 week at the Banyan and had a good time but you need to know you get what you pay for. I would stay again if the price is right. This is not a 4 star hotel so don't expect things to be in tip top shape. The Pros: 1 1/2 blocks to nice beach, near zoo and International Marketplace, nice pool area/play area for kids, 1 week parking at hotel for 40, some rooms have nice views, you can BBQ by pool. Cons: It is an older building and the rooms show their wear and tear, expect rustic, no dishwasher in our room so hand wash everything everyday, pool water is a little on the cold side if it is windy, elevators can take up to 5 minutes but hey it is a 31 story building so be patient, no food onsite except for take out at pool that tends to close very early. Tips: When you get to your room just make sure everyhting works OK and that you have everything that you will need, if not request another room. City/road noise can be an issue for some so get 15th floor or higher to reduce the noise. Going out eating with kids gets expensive fast so I suggest a Sam's Club run(In Honolulu) the day you arrive. When you go out to eat be aware that you will be nickeled and dimed at some resteraunts for things like soda refills, extra chips, etc. Be aware that a 1 bedroom is really a bedroom that has 3 sliding doors to make a wall. So if you wanted some privacy from the living room this will not work well.

| Our family went on our first big vacation and stayed at the Waikiki Banyan. It was like having our own apartment with maid service! A full kitchen, fully stocked with plates, glasses, silverware, pots and pans, you name it! It was fabulous to have the separate bedroom with the kids (ages 6 and 2). Very close to beaches and shopping, plus a great pool, with a playground for the kids! There was a minimart on site for quick snacks or necessities left at home. Yes, the decor might be a bit outdated (think Golden Girls) but it was definitely comfortable and the whole family felt quite at home. We even called it "home" when referring to going back each evening after our day trips. The qualities of the hotel definitely helped make our vacation perfect. Thank you, Waikiki Banyan. We will definitely be returning customers.

| This is a good hotel if you have children. The rooms and large and clean. It has a childrens playground and its pretty near the beach. If I went as a single or couple with no children I would probably be less impressed e.g. no bar or pool side service. The hotel itself is a little run-down (although our actual room was great).

| This hotel is great for families. The entertainment deck was a hit with us. A short walk to the beach and Kapiolani Park makes it an ideal location, and the price was affordable. We appreciated the pull out couch in the living room since we have 5 in our family. The hotel could use a bit of updating, the carpet was a worn, etc, but it was fine for us.

| Overall the room was functional because of the kitchenette and two televisions as well as clean and the price was not too bad. The sofa bed, on the other hand, was not comfortable what-so-ever and the room an hallways needed more renovations. The hotel was 1 block away from the beach and there were several wonderful but pricey restaurants to choose from. So, if money is an issue, I would definitely recommend this hotel, it's not the greatest ever but it will due.

| Over all the hotel is a nice place with great views fo the city and the service was good. But the one thing that would keep us from going back there is the fact that they have a bug problem. Bugs meaning roaches, and lots of them along with the feces that they leave behind is a very nasty thing. We had to make two phone calls to the front desk to have them replace the alarm clock because they were coming out of the clock. Nice place and good views of the city but we wouldn't stay there again because of the bugs.

| Considering the rate, this is an excellent place to stay in Oahu. It's a few minutes away from Waikiki beach and a Catholic church. The zoo and Kapiolani park are a short walk away. To my surprise, the kitchenette was fully equipped. So for those who love to cook to save money, this is the best place. Parking around the hotel is hard to find. However, indoor parking (entrance on Kuhio St.) is available at $7.00 per day.

| The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Although the hotel was not dircetly on the beach, it was a very short (one block) walk. The best part was that for the money, you were able to have a large living area with a nice size kitchen and you didn't feel like you were cramped at all. Would stay again, but not am a permanent resident of Hawaii...yea!!!

| This was our first trip to Oahu, Hawaii. We stayed at this Hotel for 10 nights. The hotel has a good location, only a block away from the beach. The room was clean and it includes a kitchen. Too bad that the bed and seats were hard and uncomfortable. The service in the hotel was just ok. I think it's a decent hotel for first time visitors to the island.

| Disclaimer: We upgraded to a Deluxe Ocean View room, and it was really worth it. Lots of space, pretty view (try to get tower 1, not tower 2..), great cleaning staff, close to everything (less than 5 minutes to Waikiki beach). Parking was a good deal at $40 a week. They let us use the Recreation deck showers after we'd already checked out (so we could spend one more afternoon on the beach). The bed was a little hard, the carpet could stand replacement, but overall I really enjoyed my stay.

| This hotel was okay. When we first checked in, they put us in a room with sticky carpet in the lower level. We were not aware that this place was not just a hotel, but was also occupied by private condo owners. Within 20 minutes of settling in our dirty room, a mean man from across the hall started banging on our door telling us that our children(ages 1 & 4) was making too much noise and that we needed to take them somewhere else (unbelievable). I was shocked and apauled because this hotel is being advertised as "family friendly". My husband went to the front desk and asked for another room. They quickly obliqued to the request and gave us a decent room in a different tower and did not have a problem during the remainder of the trip. The kitchen was nice and spacious. Also, while we were moving our stuff to the other room, we saw the same man knocking at other people's door telling another family the same thing he told us.

However, keep in mind that one of the beds is a fold out sofa. The facilities were very nice. Good pool area. Decent view from our room. Most importantly, this hotel is only 2 blocks from the beautiful park along the beach.

| This is a little older hotel and dated, but the suite style room is roomy and was clean. The bathroom is small. It is one long block off of the beach and a long walk to the Int'l. Market Place, but is on the city bus line route. The man working as the "concierge" - independent from the hotel staff - was very helpful. Would recommend if you are on a budget not expecting big/expensive hotel ammenities.

Although the decor is slightly dated, the scenic views in most instances are spectacular. The kitchen ammenities are adeaquate for prepapring small meals. They have nice play ground and pool to keep the children entertained. It is conventiely located to Waikiki beach and the main shopping area. They have on site parking for a small fee, with an unlimited in-n-out during a 24 hour period.
