No being familiar with the Lakeland, FL area, I booked a one night stay because it was the best deal Expedia had to offer at that time. What a find! This finely appointed masterpiece deserves its place on the National Historic Registry. Excellent service coupled with tastefully and well appointed rooms made for a fine nights sleep. Only downside was the train whistle sometime in the am hours, so light sleepers beware. The Terrace Grille also provided a fine room service dining experience. We will stay at The Terrace Hotel when in the Lakeland area in the future.

In simple fact, a traditional hotel setting with todays traveler in mind. High speed internet a big plus for laptop users. Excellent dining facilities at moderate prices. Overall the experience was worth a five star rating. This was my second time here and it was not disappointing. I highly recommend this hotel.

A very nice room with great bed. All the bedding and linen were wonderfully fluffy and so comfortable. Loads of down pillows. Staff was great in all areas. The food was unbelieveably delicious. I would definately go back. Broken hot water pipes one morning, but all in all really wasn't a problem.

We have lived in Europe. We travel extensively. I generally avoid older hotels in the US as they tend to be somewhat seedy. This one is a pleasant surprise. It is well kept up. It has aged gracefully. I would definately stay again.

Gracious, elegant historic hotel that's completely up to date in every way. You'll feel special and spoiled. Located in the heart of downtown, by the shore of a beautiful lake, with easy access and parking. The town's best restaurant, the Grille, is on premises, and it's a pleasant stroll to everything else. I'd go far out of my way to stay again.

This is a beautiful old hotel, that has nice comfortable rooms. It would be nicer if you could fill your ice bucket without going to the hotel bar and if they did not insist a valet parking.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights 2/22 - 2/24 during a trip from Indiana. The stay was booked with little prior knowledge of the Terrace and with some apprehension. The Terrace was a pleasant surprise and I've recommended to others. We felt a southern charm to the setting and decor.....it's well appointed, with character far from the "stacked box" construction of new motels. With other activities on our agenda, we ate only a single meal in the Grill Restaurant. The breakfast was not outstanding, but definitely acceptable, and offered interesting menu options. The Terrace's coffee is excellent! The room furnishings are upscale, the bed excellent for sleeping, towels, and accessories more than adequate. The bathroom floor looked clean but was noticeably tacky to the shoes.......perhaps a change of floor cleaner or wax is required.Valet parking performed very well, desk service adequate, restaurant service tended to be somewhat slow.....perhaps understaffed. With additional attention to detail and shine, the Terrace could easily be rated excellent. As is, ambiance is superior to traditional motels and, with bartering, prices are only slightly higher. We will look forward to future stays.

Overall, I must say that our stay was enjoyable. However there were a few annoying things. First, the food service. In general, the restraunt was overpriced. In the restraunt, it was $3 for a croissant. It was only after eating in the restraunt that I noticed that hidden by the elevators they had some for free. Also, I later discovered that through room service they were only $2.50. Nothing major, but annoying. Second, on the last day of out stay, the entire hotel was without hot water for showers. :(

I travel frequently and was unable to book a room in Lakeland where I usually stay. I found the Terrace Hotel on Expedia and they were offering a lower special rate than I pay at the local average motel. I was concerned about staying "downtown" in an old hotel but the place had more stars than where I ususally stay so I thought I'd give it a try. It usually takes me two days to get comfortable in a motel and get a good nights sleep. "Night One" was one of the best restful nights I have had in years. The Terrace Hotel is unbelievably clean, by far the most comfortable beds (complete with thick down comforters and very clean sheets), and the best smelling room I have ever stayed in. The staff couldn't have more helpful and friendly, and the local nightlife (within two blocks), food, and spirits were safe, clean, and friendly. Highly recommended and I have found a new regular place to stay in Lakeland.

Overall our stay was great until we needed to leave the premises. They offer complimentary valet parking (which is not optional) that seemed to slow us down quite a bit. We were attending a conference and the reliability of the valet was questionable. We had to get the front desk clerk to come out and give us our keys, so we could get our own car. However, this issue may have been isolated during our stay and once it is worked out it this will be a very nice establishment. Next time, I will park my own car, if they allow that as an option, so they can't hold my keys hostage!

This fine old hotel lived up to the claim of being well maintained in the original attitude of it's day, while discreetly upgrading to todays travelers needs. From enthused Valet service at check in, plush robes to wear & relax while in your room and all amenties thought of, including cutips and cotton balls, they have succeeded in making my stay there very pleasant. The on site dining was also pleasant and imaginative, while a bit over priced. However, when staying in an uptown location removed from the main consumer path, this was to be expected. A stroll around the little lake or pond was delightful, again revealing much of the archecture present during the 1920's. I'll be happy to return.

We were truly surprised how wonderful the Terrace Hotel was. We really expected some usual type of hotel, but right from the entrance we were impressed by this stay. Everyone was friendly and courtious-the room was excellent and we usually stay at timeshares so we didn't expect it to be so roomy. Check in and check out was a breeze. They even use Bath and Body Works soaps in the bathroom!!

My husband & I recently stayed at The Terrace while attending a sports tournament at the nearby Lakeland Center. We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel to discover a beautiful entry, restaurant & lobby. The guest room photo on the website does not do justice to the opulence of the king size room we shared. From the crisp white satin bedding to the upscale furnishings, we truly enjoyed our brief stay. Also, its location in the lovely downtown area was a definite plus. The only thing missing, perhaps, was a lap pool, jacuzzi & sauna (especially for a hotel catering to the business person). Kudos also to the staff - very professional & courteous (the valet service was a nice touch).

Can you imagine the surprise we had as we pulled into Lakeland, FL after our flight from the cold of upstate NY. to find that the whole town had come out for their Christmas Parade the night that we arrived. We were not able to get to the hotel because of the parade for about an hour or so because of its location on the route. The value of this stay proves to us the importance of working with expedia.com. This room should have cost us about 5 times what we paid. We met friends from Lakeland for a wonderful breakfast in the hotels historical dining area and they were very impressed that we chose to stay at The Terrace Hotel. It was a wonderful and memorable night looking out on the lakes and the holiday decorations.
