| The Riverside Hotel was a nice place to stay and because my husband and I booked really early, we think they overbooked and we got upgraded to a nicer room. The Riverside Hotel is a historical point in Fort Lauderdale, we stayed in the old portion of the hotel and we were very impressed. If you like to shop you really have no need to rent a car in Fort Lauderdale because there are shops all around the hotel and the beach is about 5-7 miles from the Riverside Hotel. If you do rent a car I recommend going to Miami for a day and visiting Little Havana.

| A great hotel in a great location. Close to shops, restaurants, bars/nightclubs (gay and straight) and the beach is a 20 minute walk or a $2 bus ride as you really dont need a car if you stay here. BEWARE - Parking is extremely expensive even as a guest of the hotel or if you have hotel visitors.

| We've stayed here several times and have enjoyed it tremendously. We like the older section of the hotel, which has more a more authentic Southern feel to it. Great restaurant called Indigo right off the lobby and nice, lazy strolling to shops and water nearby. The pool was actually swimmable and scenic (right at the edge of the river). And hotel is quiet, despite being right on the main drag.

The expedia information does not do justice to what we found when we arrived. Convenient to airport and ship terminal, with good food, service and atmosphere. We will return when we cruise out of Fort Lauderdale useing sane airline schedules and still be on time.

| I recommend this hotel ONLY due to it's location! We were traveling with our two kids 12 and 14 and needed a room for one night before a cruise during spring break. We wanted to be AWAY from the college crowd and see King Tut's exibition at the museum only a few blocks down the street. The location of this hotel was perfect....river front with pretty view on one side, quaint shops and great restaurants on the oppisite side. Great to area to stroll around! Unfortunately the room was another story. The lobby was fine but when we entered out room we were shocked. I understand that the hotel itself has history but I didn't think that meant the rooms had not been updated in YEARS! Our room was very run down and badly in need of a renovation. There was a hole in the wall big enough to stuff a wash cloth in where an old pipe had just been cut off and left open. No bolt on the door only a regular lock. When I called about it I was told none of the rooms have any kind of double lock. Room was clean but everyting was very old and worn. Had we not come in so late(our flight was delayed due to weather)and only stayed one night I would have insisted on a different room assuming there would be one in better condition. Once again I can only recommend this hotel because of it's location.

| I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. However, the first room I saw was dingy, worn and needed a paint job. The second room was better, though it was small. There were some nagging problems, such as the thermostat would not work properly (the AC wouldn't shut off), the lighting in the bathroom was poor, and the internet and TV service were intermittent. However, the location is about as good as one could hope, being surrounded by great restaurants, bars and lounges. If you don't mind a basic room, the hotel is a great choice for Ft. Lauderdale, and the price is right.

| The problems we had revolved around service. Once we checked in, it took forever to get our luggage to the room. Once it was delivered, it turned out to be the wrong luggage. I finally went to the lobby and got my own luggage and brought it to the room. The valet parking was cumbersome and it appeared that there was no procedure in place to get cars to the guests in a timely manner. If the valet parking area had not been so close, the guests would have had a long wait.

| We stayed at this hotel to see the King Tut exhibit. We were traveling with our 3 month old daughter and I must say this hotel was not designed for children. Our room was supposed to have a King mattress but it was a queen at most. On top of this there was barely any room to walk around the bed, let alone set up a crib. This room was so uncomfortable we actually checked out a day early and headed home. The service was very good (room service, maids, etc) but I could not recommend it for families.

| A slice of culture, history, and luxury. This hotel has an intimate european style vista onto the busy and festive night life of Las Olas Blvd ( with horse buggies and street musicians) and near to Museums and galleries, not far from the Beach. My original attraction to it was the history, it was built in the 1920's, and had a very 'florida life-style feeling'( with breathing windows, central courtyards, etc.) unfortunately, in the recent past, its owners have succombed to the concrete race of towers to the sky, and demolished and destroyed much of the charming aspects of it,(including the central courtyard, and some of older rooms) turning it into a more modern hotel. While many people adore the clean ascetisism of the towers, I miss the loss of much of the historical charm and intimacy of the place. To me, the towers are cold and sterile, though beautiful and quiet, with much luxury. I prefer the open aired windows of the older rooms, the tiled and arching halls with dancing palm silouhettes looking out on the river buses or the balconied windows gazing at the gay 'foule' below. But the staff remains a wonderful mix of Floridians-Haitians, Cubans, Jamaicans, and Europeans with warmth and old world charm and grace. The inhouse dining is world class, and it has the best pool in Fort Lauderdale! You'll just have to see!

| Just make sure you book the tower rooms if you like luxury. The older historic part of the hotel, the rooms they call "standard" are old, smelled slightly moldy to me and have teeny tiny bathrooms. They are renovated with carpets and beds but they are just not the 4 star, spacious, lovely accomadations that the tower has.

The room did not and after an hour they finally moved me to a suite ("only room they had left") which was nice, but early that morning they called and said I would now have to move to another room since that one was booked. We stayed here for just one night and chose it because it was close to our destination (King Tut exhibit). Everything about the hotel was elegant, clean, friendly & charming. We stayed in one of the tower rooms. The only thing we didn't care for was the breakfast at "Indigo". It was only average.
