We selected the Westin Hotel because of the proximity to the shopping along Michigan Ave. It was July 4th and it was a easy walk to Navy Pier to watch the fireworks. Also, "Taste of Chicago" was going on down and it was a short two block walk to pick up the "Free Trolley" at the old Water Tower. The room was clean. The beds were ultracomfortable. The staff is very helpful. All in all we had an enjoyable stay. My biggest complaint was probably that the bathroom was a little small, but since this is an older (although well maintained) property I didn't find this surprising. We would definitely stay there again, and probably will!

We decided to stay at the Westin, because of its awesome location. You are in the middle of it all!! The hotel was nice, the beds super comfortable. Overall the place was nice. One gripe we have is, that we had the do not disturb sign up the whole day, even though we were out of our room for most of the day. Even though that sign was up, the cleaning lady diregarded it, and came into the room anyway. No biggie, but that sign was up, so what, it doesn't mean anything anymore??? Also, the towels they gave us the 2nd time around were not very clean, the one had big yellow streaks and what looked like blood on it. Yuck! But, that's what happens in all hotels, inconsistency. What can you do. Overall, I would say it's definitley worth staying there, most of all for the location!

The hotel was located in the heart of everything. Very close to shopping, sites and dining. Our air conditioner wasn't working in our room so we were immediately moved to a new one. The new room was a little smaller but still nice and clean. Beds were very comfortable. The hotel restaurant was great. Bellmen could have been a little more helpful with bags, but over all my friends and I had a fabulous time in Chicago

Best part about the hotel was it's location on the Magnificent Mile - close to shopping, walking distance to good eating places, and under 15 min. cab rides to just about anywhere in downtown. The hotel beds were very comfortable (plush feathertop) and every floor is non-smoking. The only thing we were disappointed in was the lack of helpfulness and the impatience of the Concierge Team. They were often in a hurry in trying to explain things to us and always seemed annoyed whenever we had a question (even as simple as "Where do you reccommend we go for a quiet, casual, family meal?") Luckily, the location of the hotel was good enough to help us overlook this poor service. Next time, I'll just have to do my research on restaurants and places to go prior to my arrival in Chicago so I don't have to bother the concierge.

Right in the heart of the best retail in Chicago. The beds, duvets and pillows are fantastic. Excellent restaurant, only complaint was that the bar did not serve nuts or snacks with your cocktails. Coffee in your room, very helpful staff service and a nice workout facility that you did not have to pay a fee to use!

I was so excited to stay at this Westin. I anticipated the beds and the service would be fantastic. the service was friendly, altough the valet parking was extemly diorganized both droping off and picking up. the beds were too soft and the bedding wasn't 100% cotton, so it wasn't"heavenly" at all. It was too hot and scratchy. The hotel was very busy and the hallways were LOUD. we heard doors slamming all night, when we complained we got very little response. wouldn't stay here again. we have stayed at many better plaes in this area for about the same price.

This hotel is very conveniently located....it is literally right across the street from Water Tower Place (John Hancock building). If you are going to Chicago for the Miracle Mile for shopping and site seeing, thsi is a great place. Good, clean newer hotel....and if you are a non-smoker, they instituted non-smoking in the entire hotel in Jan 2006. If you are like me and hate smoke, this is a nice feature.

We chose the Westin for its location...gold coast in Chicago. The hotel was average but I had to watch my budget so I couldn't go nicer. Location was very convenient. Walking distance for all of Michigan Avenue, Beds were excellent and comfortable. Room was not exceptionally clean, of course, I have not found any that are. This room needed touch up paint and general cosmetic maintenance. Conceirge was not friendly or that helpful. Bell people and front desk o.k. Did not order room service so I cannot assess that. Overall an o.k. hotel, I will go back...

For the price, I expected a luxury experience. Instead, everything was just OK. The lobby was cramped and always packed with luggage. The weather was sloppy, so the lobby, walkways, elevators were always dirty and wet. The tiled entry to the room was never cleaned during my entire stay. The touted bed was nice but not special. The shower was very good, however. I must say, though, that the location was absolutely first-rate. Next time, I'll try one of the other hotels with equally good locations.

The beds were fabuously comfortable. The comforter was fluffy and the sheets were silky smooth. All that was missing was a turn down with a mint on the pillow. The room was quiet (no neighbor noise). The temperature was warm and cozy; the room was dark enough to sleep all day; and the fresh brewed coffee in the morning topped off the whole trip.

The hotel is located in a wonderful spot right next to the Hancock bldg and the Water Tower. The "Heavenly" bed is great...pillows not so great. The hotel room itself was average in size and not any extra items to make it above average. The bathroom faucet leaked the entire time we were there. The toilet paper would not stay on the holder since it was broke. No pressure in the showers at all. I did find the hotel staff very friendly and the security excellent. Service from the doorman at the curb in getting a cab was sometimes rude or just not there at all. Overall the location is the best part of this hotel.

Very accomadating to our needs. Great location, in the heart of everything. Clean, comfortable rooms. Only problem was having the manager come to our room 2x to tell us to be quiet. 6 mothers away for a get away were apparently too loud and threatened to get kicked out. (we may have been a little too loud!) Otherwise, we stay here each year when we go to the Oprah show.

We arrived early, and check-in was not until 3:00pm. We spent the day shopping, and got back to the hotel around 3:00 to find that our room was still not ready. It wasn't available for check-in until almost 5:30pm. The room was nice, the bed was "heavenly" just as stated. The concierge was not too helpful as he was far too busy to give good service. The room service was excellent and very quick. All and all, we enjoyed out stay and would go back, we have just stayed in much better staffed 4-star properties. A tip: if you go, try to have an idea of where you want to go and what you want to do before you get there. There is so many fun things to do and see and it's easy to be overwhelmed.

I was surprised at the poor quality of this hotel, given my overall positive image of the Westin chain. The bathroom shower had been leaking all day when I entered my room and the floor was wet, and dirty (it had coins on it, seemingly not having been cleaned). I told the desk about it and they had that "puzzled" expression on their faces like "Wow, this lady must be nuts." The room did not have a "do not disturb" sign available and the cleaning person kept banging on my door all morning. The concierge service was inadequate; first I ran into a sneering and rude young man. Then it was staffed by a well-meaning but very ignorant woman (she thought Bucktown was near to the hotel, an easy walk, but it was 4.5 miles away per Mapquest. The hotel has a great location for touring Chicago, but it is not what I'd call luxury accommodations.
