Staff was very courteous but the place is just run down. Pool was not heated, so it was unusuable by this traveler. "Business center" had only an old inkjet printer (no copier), and the hotel's copier was broken, so I had to drive fifteen minutes to Kinkos to make copies. The hotel's restaurant mysteriously closed during the middle of the day, so students at my seminar had to go off-site to find something for lunch.

This was the cheapest hotel in the area, but it's not cheap quality. The staff was very nice, and the room was very nice and comfortable.

Was impressed. Obviously not the accomodations of a 5 star hotel, but for its class was great. Good service, room, internet. Just don't get a room at the END of the hall. The air conditioning is weaker at the far ends.

Clarion is a 50's vintage hotel which features long low ceilings in hallways that overlook a center court with a pool loaded with leaves. It's ideal if you are accustommed to swimming in swamps. Rooms are adequate and equipped with Farmer's coffee makers, a radio/alarm, and a television it'll take twenty minutes to learn how to use. Or pay 12 bucks for a movie. Music from the lounge is loud, so ear plugs help. Use windows as vents, not views unless you like trailer parks. Convenient location if you drive, and the price is right.

The price was right, but I gues you do get what you pay for. The air conditioning was broken all 4 nights that we stayed there, so we were given a fan. The safe in the room was broken as well. Finally the computer in the business center was broken too. The staff was friendly and helpful, but I was definately expecting more from the Clarion.

our room over-looked a 'charming' trailer park. no hot water in the hotel our first night. too many things 'out of order' or just plain 'out.' the neighborhood is going thru renovation to clean it up, this hotel seems like it's struggling to improve.

Very Nice. Definitely a 3 star hotel. Very nice, cneat, clean, and quiet. The R&B band in the lounge Friday night sounded real good, and the breakfast buffet was not elaborate, but definitely more than adequate, with bacon, eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, etc, all for only #3.99 for hotel guests.

The best thing about the Clarion hotel in northern Sacramento (really in the suburb of Arden Arcade) is that it is right off of the "Business 80" freeway. Most of Sacramento is easily accesible by the "Business 80," the 80, the 5, the 99 and the local 163 freeways and this hotel's location, whilr not IN downtown, makes it conveniant to access dowtown, "Old Sacramento," the airport, and all outlying areas. The hotel offers a daily breakfast buffet (for a small charge) that has hot food (scrambled eggs, potatoes, meats, pancakes) in addition to cereal, toast, coffee, and milk. I would like to have been offred juice, too, but that was not available. The rooms were reasonbly appointed - I especially liked the good quality desk chair. I would like to have seen a non-desk (lounge-type) chair, too. The beds were a bit soft, but comfortable, and the climate was fine (especially in the "cold-for-California" 40-degree weather we had!). The bathrooms were maintained well, but showed a bit of aging (e.g. loose drain cover) and I would prefer a bit more water pressure in the shower. All-in-all, I would not hesitate to stay in this location again if, as was the case this time, Expedia offered me a good, fair rate.

1) Confusion at check-in: we were first sent to an unfurnished room under renovation, then to a room with a broken shower that was being repaired as we came in. We arrived at 9pm with a reservation made three months in advance. 2) Our room was simply not cleaned or made up (no towels, etc.) on two nights of our six-night stay. Staff apologized and made excuses. 3) No elevator service for one day of our stay.

This Hotel is located in an area with many car dealerships and car mechanic shops nearby. There is a small restaurant and a small bar in the lobby. It is fine for spending the night but don't expect much more than that. The nearest shopping area with a drug store and a few other shops is about a mile south of the hotel.

no smoke detectors in the rooms, sliding windows permanently fixed so you can not open them. Persons cleaning rooms asked for dirty towels in the morning and could not come up with clean towels until after 9:00 p.m.

The room condition was decent and clean. However, it would have been nice if they had remodeled the bathroom. It seemed a little over used, but still okay. One of the good things is that they offer free wireless WI-FI for internet connection. I would stay again in this hotel in the future.
