Just refurbished hotel so the rooms we had were great. Nice size and huge bathroom. The wireless is free but didn't work in our room so they moved us to another room which was larger and better then the first. The hotel's restaurant is one of the best restaurants in Chicago and the room service is from them so expect it to be a little pricey but fantastic. The location is in the Printers District just a short walk to downtown and quick taxi ride everywhere else. It is definitely a boutique hotel with the hipness that comes from it.

I have stayed in a lot of high priced hotels chains in which I felt I paid extra for only the name. They were no better than a cheap roadside hotel. This hotel was not that way at all! It was very comfortable. The rooms seemed more luxurious and spacious. The bathroom was huge with 2 sinks and a long vanity. The bathroom had a huge shower with only a partial shower door and no tub. I had no where to soak my feet after walking all over Chicago! Since no liquids are allowed on carry ons, it was a treat to have actual mall brand name toiletries. The concierge was neither friendly nor helpful. We asked for his help only one time and that was enough to convince us not to ask again! He acted like it was an inconvenience to give us restaurant advice or directions. He had several copies of a booklet for Chicago tourists on his stand in plain view, but did not offer us a copy.

The staff at the front desk was extremely friendly, I got nice smiles every time I walked in. The help with the luggage was a little cold at check in, but maybe because I chose not to use the valet parking, he made up for it when we left (very helpful). The rooms were newly remodeled in an unique contemparary style. Large Marble showers and beatiful bathroom. I'll probably stay again my next visit.

I thought this hotel was perfect, apart from when we tried to organise room service for breakfast. We had to have our order ready by 11.30pm the night before... which is way to early especially as we went out most nights for dinner and did not make it back to the hotel in time. The room was perfect and cleaned daily.

The Hotel Blake is a good place to stay as long as you can get a reasonable price through Expedia. It is in walking distance of the sites downtown. The rooms were clean and bathroom was spacious. If you have an iPod bring it with you. The clock radio has an attachment that you can connect your iPod to for listening. I left mine at home and did not get the chance to try it. Try nearby restaurants in the area. The room service is a little pricey. If you want something to drink during the night walk to a nearby store to buy a bottle of water to avoid the costly charge of the bottle water the hotel provides you with in the room (there are no vending machines). Overall I recommend the hotel.

Just got back after spending two nights here and I can't recommend this hotel enough. Room size was more than enough for one person. The bathroom was about the size of my aprtment bedroom (although that's probably more a reflection on my apartment!) Hotel was very quiet, as was the immediate neighborhood. Staff answered all my questions, provided me with city maps and even let me check in early (thanks, guys). Don't expect to walk right out your door and be in the thick of the action because you won't be. But everything is reachable via a good walk or by public transportation, which is easy to use. Just by a CTA card, put about $20 bucks on it and you are good to go.

Wow, what a place. For the price, well worth it! Rooms were elegant and well decorated. Spacious for a downtown hotel, and renovations from earlier this year make the hotel impressive. Elevator was a little slow for comfort, and they could have paid a little better attention to detail (vanity hardware piece missing, toilet paper hardware broken, etc.) but all in all, very impressive, and location was great for exploring the south side of downtown Chicago (easy access to Sears Tower also).

I really loved Chicago. It is a great city. I have to say that the Hotel Blake was not the highlight of my trip. I found the staff unresponsive to my questions regarding the TV service. We did not receive any local stations at all. WE had no idea that the Tall Ships were in port or that Lalapaloosa was in town. The frustration with the staff comes from their inability to change our room and or to fix the television. We receive a different answer everyday yet in the fitness center TV reception was just perfect. The staff made no restitution for this inconvenience and being that my stay was prepaid there was no moving to another hotel. The hotel itself has been renovated so everything is very nice from the bed to the shower. I love to stay at boutique hotels for their charm and character. This is one I will not return to.

Very nice, modern hotel in South Loop area of downtown Chicago, adjacent to Sears Tower (away from all the traffic of the North End). Knew little about the hotel and booked based on positive feedback from other visitors - Hotel Blake didn't disappoint. Rooms were very comfy, bed was great after a long day of walking, bathroom was huge with lots of marble everywhere. Would stay here again. Didn't try Custom House Resturant downstairs, but looked nice. Only wierd thing was the only ice machine was on the 12th floor - just a quick elevator ride though.

Attended a three-day music festival at Grant Park and stayed here as a last resort given unavailability of nearby national chains. I must say I was a little apprehensive given it's not a brand-name hotel, but upon entering the room, I couldn't have been more impressed. Top-notch, extremely clean, and comparable is size and price. The king-size bed was very comfortable and feather-down pillows reminded me of home. The interior design is very contemporary with trendy earth tones. With a straight-line style, it sported a walk-in marble shower with raindrop showerhead, granite bath countertop, free wireless internet, a cordless phone, and an iPod-dockable alarm clock. No amenity was overlooked to include Q-tips, cotton balls, and small facial mirror. Although it wasn't a problem for me, a few things you might want to consider: no bathtub, no "view" except for skyscrapers, and some may consider the bathroom non-shareable given the shower curtain consists of a piece of clear glass from floor to ceiling..it's neat though. In addition, it's located on a busy four lane street (Congress). Other benefits include the nearby subway, Starbucks around the corner, and Grant Park and the museum district is just a short walk.

Hotel Blake is in a great location, mere blocks from Grant Park, with easy access to the red and blue subway lines. The building is very nice, with a spacious lobby and tasteful, comfortable rooms. Although the hotel provides a free business center, be forewarned that there is only one computer, usually with a long queue of business travellers waiting to check their email. We were very dissapointed in the quality of service, however; the staff had some major attitude, they were very much of the "it's your problem" school of thought about Expedia-hotel miscommunications, and the pizza place they reccomended turns out to have been closed over a year ago.

First off let me say, I am a hotel snob and I'm no novice when it comes to picking a hotel. I have to say this hotel was absolutely fabulous. I give it two thumbs, way up. From the decor, to the housekeeping staff, I felt like a queen. The room was emmaculate. (It was so clean you could sleep and eat off the bathroom floor.) It was my first time visiting Chicago and the hotel's friendly doormen went out of their way to ensure I had a pleasant and safe experience. (Which I did) With the exception of one young lady who worked the night shift, I found the front desk staff to be a little short. They were not as friendly or courteous as the other hotel staff. However, the location was great, great, great. Did i mention great?!?!?! (You don't need to drive unless you have have a disability or just prefer to, it just isn't necessary in this prime location.) It's nice and quiet, yet close to everything. The Hotel Blake was soooo great, it has influenced my return to Chicago. I am in the process of planning a trip to Chicago along with family and friends. Great for singles, couples, family, girlfriend getaways. Perfect for a weekend trip, but you'll definitely want to stay longer.

We were greeted right away with a big smile, offered a room on a higher floor because it was a b-day celebration, very helpful of what is the best way to get around Chicago. Didn't use the valet, chose to use a 24hr parking ramp about a block from the hotel (a lot cheaper and quicker). Didn't check out the restaurant, but looked good. Room was roomy and clean, the elevator was a little rickity, but it got us there. Bed was very comfortable, able to set right temp. for your room, a plus!!

My recent trip to Chicago was wonderful. The Hotel Blake was beautifully designed and extremely comfortable. There was so much of Chicago I experienced with this trip, and I having a wonderful hotel and helpful staff to guide me through it, was a very memorable thing. I'd recommend this hotel to my friends because it's not far (walking distance) from all the attractions and events for which Chicago is known. Another perk... Starbucks is on the corner, next to the hotel. The only problem, not too many cab drivers were familiar with the name of our hotel, just the address. It was a wonderful retreat to a beautiful city.
