We went to Cancun 5 years ago for our honeymoon and stayed in a hotel of comparable price to the Hyatt. Unfortunately I believe that experience set us up for a little bit of disappointment in this hotel. But the difference should be noted in Cancun and Acapulco. Where Cancun is very americanized Acapulco is...Mexico. The hotel was clean but old so there was a little bit of "age" to it. The Air Condition was cool but not cold and required you leave a room key in the "power box" at all times to get any electricity to the room including the AC. The placement of the hotel was probably one of the best down there and what we might have sacrificed on in quality we made up for in proximity to the main part of Acapulco. The hotel is positioned close to Wal-Mart which is the taxi and bus hub for all of the down town and no place was more than 5 pesos (50 cent) away by bus or 50 pesos ($5) away by taxi. We met some people that were at hotels that were so far out it was $25 dollars to get into the city. While in Acapulco I recommend going to the Zocolo and taking a very inexpensive boat ride to the the Island of Fantasia where you can enjoy the great cafe and very clean beach. I also recommend taking the tour through the mountains to the lagoon and private beach club. This excursion was a little more expensive (around $50 depending on the season) it was worth every penny. So overally it was a good hotel but not great but certainly had benefits I'm sure other hotels didn't.

The staff was pretty pleasant. We loved the hotel because of it's great scenery, nice looking Art Deco decor and the spaceousness of the rooms. However, we were turned off by the small cockroach crawling on our nightstand. I believe another reviewer mentioned having to kill a roach as well. When I first read that review, I thought it was an isolated incident. If we had the very same experience as the other reviewer and we were traveling at different times, the hotel has a definate roach problem. The clerk at the front desk was notified the next day and he immediately offered to upgrade our room which was nice. We took the offer of course. Other than this unfortunate incident, we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is a little dated (it is an older hotel and we had to keep the air conditioning on "high" all day everyday for the room to stay cool) but it is really clean and the location is fabulous and is within walking distance of restaurants and nightlife. We had read previous reviews about the beds being hard and yes they are but not uncomfortably so. We slept well all-in-all except for a couple of nights when the hotel hosted several high-school children for an event and then you could hear every noise at all hours of the night. However, once they left we went back to sleeping well. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again (even over some of the pricier hotels b/c of the location).

Great location, great price, great service. The restaurants in the hotel were EXTREMELY overpriced and not very good food. The staff everywhere was exceptional. The room wasn't spotless, but was still acceptable. One annoyance is having to shell out $10 a day for chairs on the beach. All in all, one of the better hotels to stay at on the Acapulco beach.

Hyatt Hotel-Acapulco is a excellent place to stay with your family or just to be away & relax. Their staff is very polite, flexible room services, good prices. Perfect location!!! Close to Restaurant, night clubs-bars shopping area... Beautiful view to the bay & nightlife. I would recommend you to stay in their suite, if you like to have some space..Their regular rooms are small & bathroom are not too clean.

I would return to this hotel again for sure. The grounds were impressive, with nice quality pool furniture and gorgeous landscaping and lovely sounds of birds. The staff was always courteous and patient with the language barrier. Even holding the front door for you every time you enter the lobby. We went right before the busy religious week, so it may be more hectic then.

The hotel's location is very good, convenient to restaurants, shopping, etc., which is good because the restaurants at the hotel were only average, The hotel needs to hire someone to clean the beach on a regular basis. It is a public beach and somewhat overrun with locals selling handmade goods. This can be annoying to those who want a quiet time on the beach. On the other hand, for those who enjoy mingling with the local people, who for the most part are very friendly, it is a good way to experience the culture and to learn more about their way of life. The hotel staff was very accommodating when I asked to change rooms to have a better view. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.

This hotel was very nice. The room was clean and spacious, and the view was gorgeous. Its got an amazing pool area, but make sure you get there early in the morning to reserve beach chairs. The beach is easily accessible, but pretty crowded. If you are looking for water sports, parasailing, drinks and excitement, its perfect. If you are looking for the Corona-commercial, relaxed, deserted beach scene, Acapulco is probably not the place for you. It's on a very busy street and there is hustle and bustle all around. There are clubs, bars and restaurants nearby.

1. Hotel offered Prodigy Internet hotspot service, however hotel does not sell the user ID/password cards they must be purchased at Sanbornes restaurant at exhorbitant prices. I had to buy a Multifon/Telmex internet card at .45 cents per minute so I got 10 minutes service. A BIG rip-off. 2. The drinks in the bar at the outdoor restaurant near the pool area serves "watered down" drinks. My Beefeater gin was watered down at $9. I only bought one drink there, whereas at the lobby bar it was not watered down. 3. This is a 2 star hotel at best and not up to Hyatt standards at all.

They need to do better job with the security between swiming pool- beach, every day we found people from other hotels locking the doors to put-in swiming suits on in the bathrooms in the swiming pool area, also they should not allow coolers in the swiming pool, be size that, nice Hotel!
