Beautiful grounds. There are many places to sit outside and enjoy the roses and bright landscaping. The room we stayed in was part of the one story bungalow style areas, and not the towers. Beds are a little hard, but overall a nice room. Centrally located to many San Diego attractions.

What a huge let down. Our room smelled of mildew or mold, and when we requested a new room it fell on deaf ears, but ultimatley ended with, "we will see what we can do." Despite a smelly room were intent on having a good time. After returnng from the zoo and other outings (hot day) we returned only to discover that our room had not been cleaned yet, this was 4:00 PM. Our todlers were tired and needed a nap, thus were put down and we called the front desk, they said they could come "right now" but we requested 30 minutes due to naps etc, there respoinse was "housekeeping leaves in 15 minutes." We simply requested towels to get us through the night. Ironically, the next morning, the maids wereknocking on our door at 8:00 AM...it was just plain ridicoulous. Back to the hot day, we started the air conditioner only to hear a loud clanking noise that never went away. We grinned an took it to get the room cool, but we could not run the air at night. If you are thinking about this hotel, forget it, pick another one. I am a fairly easy to please travler, so this should tell you someting. The grounds, however, are very pretty and like a large cottage. I would not recomend this place.

We have stayed at this hotel many times due to it's comfort, location and quiet location. It's beautifly landscaped and the rooms are extremely nice. It's located close to the freeway for easy access to the city or beach and the train is behind the property for access to Petco if you want to catch a ballgame. An upscale mall is also just behind the property. Great place to stay!

Check-in was not smooth. We were given keys to a room that was occupied and then had to wait in our son's room for over 45 minutes for keys to a new room. Finally we had to walk to check-in lobby to ask for our keys as they were never delivered. Even this was not smooth as the person in the lobby did not listen to us.

Overall, not a bad place to stay for the money spent. What will prevent me from every going back is the parking, which was $12 daily. We literally had to park at least half a mile away from our room. The lot is shared with several lodging and it was just a nightmare trying to find a park. No one should have to ever pay for that kind of parking.

The mall and the golf course is right next door (walking distance). The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The restroom however could use a little remodeling. Oh, it's clean, not dirty at all, it just need a face lift. But hey, who sleeps there any way. =)

Maybe I expected something different from a resort. The rooms are just like any other hotel. Doesn't seem to have enough parking for the rooms it has, unless you want to trek back to your room. The beds KILLED our backs and our room had paper thin walls!! We could hear our neighbor talking on his phone...in a normal toned voice!! The remote for the TV worked only when it wanted to and we couldn't get the movie menu to work even if we wanted to watch a movie. They seem to have a pool for every section of the resort...but only one small hot tub?!?! The food at the cafe was horrible!! Since the resort is so big, we were not pleased that we had to take a journey back to the lobby at 2am (tired and carrying souvenirs to be brought into the room) because our key mysteriously deactivated itself, and then be told that it may happen every night?? (Thankfully it didn't). Through all the faults, the staff were very friendly and courteous. But still not a place I'd recommend to anyone, nor return to.

Surprised to have to pay for parking daily - which is ridiculous considering the price of the hotel. Anything extra that you needed you had to pay for. You pay for local calls at the rate of .95 each time. Rooms where we were places were awful (next to the bright lights and employees entrance. Very loud neighbors with no consideration of anyone. None of the "help" spoke English - never again

Great location, beautiful grounds (abundance of well-kept flower gardens), friendly and professional staff. Get a room with an inward view as the grounds of the resort are more attractive than the immediate surrounding area. I would suggest making sure that at check-in you are NOT assigned a room in the Regency Tower, instead select a bungalow or the Royal Palm Tower. The Regency is the ghetto of the resort -- old, dingy and difficult to access for luggage off-load.

My first exposure to this hotel was the front desk person who was abrupt and curt. There was no "Welcome to the Town & Country", but rather "Name...spelling, credit card & ID". The $12.00 per night for parking was an unpleasant surprise. The sliding doors to the balcony were extremely difficult to open and close and as a result, we could hear everyone who went out. The entry doors had to be shut with a firmness that ensured everyone else knew when you were coming and going (and visa versa). The maid convoy started at 6:00 sharp and was not something one could ignore. Do not stay here if you want a good night's sleep.

We were the lucky ones to get the room adjacent to hotel Security and Personnel AND the steakhouse lounge! So we were awakened with the late night bar revelers and then again in the early morning hours when the worker bees arrived. The room was old, beat up, crowded and ugly - New England Colonial period meets Spanish tile. The TV armoire doors blocked the bathroom entrance and the air conditioning (to drown out the noise) barely worked.

Beautiful grounds, our room however faced the wall of banquet halls. It was very loud due to gathering of staff and conventioneers below our room. Vacuuming started at 5:30 AM to prepare the banquet rooms for the day. The room decor was nice but the room was extremely small. The mattress was sagging in the middle. Thin walls and the TV didn't work properly.

The hotel grounds are beautiful. I've stayed at the hotel before and preferred the rooms in the tower. I think the annex we were in was older with all tile floors. I thought that was awkward. The gate keeper was rude when I wanted my sister to be able to park on the grounds for an hour until we left for dinner. You have to pay for parking if you are not staying there, even if you are visiting a paying guest.

Good resort overall. The room is medium size, but doesn't matter if you are in San Diego for the attractions most of the days (Great location to all attractions) and are out the room. Fashion Valley mall behind the resort as well as other shopping nearby. Room service is a bit expensive, but other food locations nearby to avoid the high resort prices for room service. Bella Tosca Spa is great at only $10/day. Parking was not a hassle as some people have written. Overall, great hotel for the price.

After reading previous reviews, from "good value" to "worst hotel ever", we didn't know what to expect. We might've been lucky because we got an excellent renovated room, it was spacious, comfortable, clean and QUIET (which was very important to us). We expected a lot of noise because it was New Year's Eve, but other guests were respectful and no problem at all (even though hotel was completely full). We stayed on second floor of one of the garden-type apartments (not in a tower), which I strongly recommend. Overall, a very pleasant stay. (Room had it's own heat and cold so we could regulate it and were comfortable with that.)

Upon arriving we knew this wasn't going to be a pleasant stay - we couldn't find a parking spot, our room was at the back of the hotel and had a view and sound of the highway. When checking in we were told by the clerk that parking was $12 for the entire stay. Upon checking out we were billed $12/day. The room was outdated and had paper thin walls. Every night was a challenge to find a parking spot and guest services were not helpful when asked questions about local attractions. Overall wished we could have cancelled the room and gone to a better hotel on hotel circle!!!
