In a neighborhood that is difficult to walk through, sits a hotel that is lush with comforts. One cannot walk from even a few blocks, such as convention center, without being afraid of some unfortunate thing that might befall on you. Things have worsened since I was here 2 years ago for the same purpose-to attend a conference. That does not speak well about an otherwise great city. Left a bitter taste in the mouth the way I was treated in the cafe the first morning, the usherer and a waiter were rude. Never went in again, although I stayed 5 nights!

This is a good hotel for the money. San Francisco can be an expensive place and this was reasonable and close to the Moscone Center. The facilities and cleanliness of the room was decent, the mattress a bit below average. Staff was good, parking especially a large vehicle a little tricky.

This hotel is great for staying a few days while waiting to go on a cruise or other trip out of SFO. The only thing that detracted from the stay was the noise on the street due to construction, however, the repairs will probably be completed in a couple of weeks. (Noise went on until 11 pm)

The hotel itself was very nice but the area surrounding the hotel was a little questionable. You had to walk a few blocks into Market Street to see the nicer part of San Francisco.

They tried to short us on the size of the room that we registered through expedia. We were confirmed a family room and the tried to give us a double room. We actually had to get ugly with the hotel management. They eventually agreed and gave us our room that we had paid for but not without complications. They hotel is not in the nicest area, but rooms were clean. The swimming pool was out of service and looked like it had been out for several weeks!

Our experience at the Americania was interesting. The hotel is almost locted in the Tenderloin district. So, the blocks around the hotel was populated by many homeless people. These people did NOT interfere with our stay. The shuttle service to and from Union Square was wonderful and much appreciated. Free parking at the hotel is an exceptional value as well. Our rooms were clean, staff was very helpful and provided coupons that saved us over $120.00. Thank you

First impression was good, as the helpful and friendly staff let us check in at 11 a.m. The room was bright, sunny, colorful, and well maintained. Located about 3 blocks from the civic center bart/muni station was convenient for getting around, however it is the Market st area, and vigilance and awareness of your surroundings is absolutely paramount. Just put on your "don't mess with me" city face, and you'll be fine. The hotel is more like a motel, in that each room has outside access into a common courtyard (with nice tile fountains), so outside passersby are audibly noticeable. The shower pressure is tops! While the heated pool looked inviting, it was still too chilly for our tastes to go there. We didnt check out the dining room except to see their continental breakfast was pretty typical, but cost $10. The hotel does offer shuttle service to Union Square and ChinaTown, but we chose to walk, which was a good hoof, but not bad.

San Francisco, like any other metropolis, has its good areas and its bad areas, all within blocks of one another. This hotel is located on a true city block, with your nice hotels intermingling with your not-so-nice homeless people. I'm from NYC and even I thought walking to Union Square is not safe after dark because then the Tenderloin district seemingly spreads out and the folks do not look very friendly in the dark. Save your sanity and cab to and from this hotel at night. This hotel had free use of internet and free parking, a definente plus. It's a short hop to Ghiardelli Square and Fishermans Wharf.

While the hotel is located in the mission district (not the nicest place in SF), it is a well kept place to stay. If you are a high maintenance person, it may not be the place to stay. However, they keep it very clean and parking is free (and that's not usual in SF) and they offer free internet as well as a nice breakfast/bar. They have a pool on the roof. My husband and I really liked it and the front staff was friendly and knowlegeable of the activities in SF...

I stayed here in January 2005 and it was very convenient to all the attractions and the bus lines. The front desk was very helpful The bathroom was the cleanest I 've seen in a 3 star hotel and the towels were very plush. I would stay here again The only probelm I would say is to get to your room you have to do a little walking from the elevator or stairs. And the inside corridors are dark

Many hotels we looked at over the internet did not let us sleep more than 4 people for the discounted price. This hotel did for an extra charge, but at least gave us that option. Our room had a sofa bed for our fifth person. The building is very hard to miss, very bright. The front desk was excellent, they stayed on the phone with us when we got lost. The location is just okay. It has a nice cozy bar and so was our room. It wasn't great, but a good price for what we got. We especially enjoyed the free shuttle service to Union square, dropped us off right in front of the Louis Vutton store. From there it was just a short walk to Chinatown. We would definitely go back.

The service was wonderful and quick. Everyone was very friendly. The hotel is in a very good location, and I felt very safe. The rooms were clean and I loved the idea that the parking is free. Some hotels offer low rates, but you end up paying for parking everyday. This will be my third stay there at this hotel in San Francisco, this coming March. I loved it.

We were treated very nicely and the entire staff was very welcoming. The free shuttle and free parking were very beneficial. The hotel will be excellent for summers because it is open to the elements. During the cold season, as guest we were opened to the wind and rain to get to our rooms. I think the lighting around the premises and hallways lights could be brighter or install more lights. It was dark walking to the room especially exposed to the outside weather elements.
