We just finished our stay at the Houstonian and were disappointed with the quality versus price/reputation. We ate at the hotel restaurant, Olivette, and were suprised to find adults and children in shorts and polos for the evening service. The food was good but not equal to the price. Housekeeping was offering turn-down service at 9:00 p.m. - we'd already eaten and returned to our room for the night. The other guests were not rowdy but we could hear every door slam and hall conversation all night as though it was happening in our room. The foam pillows offered kept our heads at 45 degree angles they were so fluffy. This hotel is good for people who want a convenient location, an awesome workout facility and a country club feel. Stay elsewhere if you are looking for a luxury stay and fine dining.

My wife and I were blown away at the quality of this hotel. Everything from the personal attitude of the staff to the five star condition of their facilities far exceeded our wildest expectations. We would definitely check the availability of the Houstonian next time we're in south Texas!

Enjoyed the pool, walking track, tennis courts, cycling and yoga classes! The cafe in the club is great for reasonably priced delicious meals. The hotel rooms don't have coffee makers. I missed having my morning tea.

The Houstonian is a really beautiful hotel working off an old style model of service first. It has, without question, the nicest and friendliest staff I have found anywhere. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, the spa is first rate and the rooms invite rest and relaxation. The room service and restaurant were excellent too.

Hotel is understatedly elegant. Combined with the fabulous fitness facility, it is a wonderful place to relax and a wonderful place to relax when on business. Its a straight shot down Memorial to reach downtown, which is convenient, and to me it is worth the extra few minutes in the morning to be out of the hussle of the city, yet almost right next to the shopping district. I have stayed at this hotel twice and have had mixed reviews on their Restaurant. The first visit was remarkable; however, this last visit was wedding weekend. They did not keep up the quality. Its a touch pricy too. Breakfast is good but skip the frozen oj.

This beautiful hotel is a great getaway for anyone who wishes to hide out for any length of time. Tucked away in this beautiful property, you will feel thousands of miles away from home, even if you are a Houston resident. It's perfect!! Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to access the spa facilities which are key to this hotel. We will make a point of this next time!!

Our second night we called front desk twice because of noise after 12am. They gave us another room but there were some drunk guests on that floor too. Security asked them to quiet down, they did only for a moment. We didn't get any sleep till after 3:30.

I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was beautiful, very comfortable and quiet. Room service was prompt and the food was great. Bring your cross trainers, the hotel has "cushy" walking trails covered in astro turf. The decor is very tasteful and traditional.

I lived in Houston for 12 years and attended several events at the Houstonian, but never stayed in the hotel. The Houstonian is situated off the beaten path in a beautiful wooded area, but it is still in the Galleria area, so perfectly located. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is attentive and well-trained, and the Olivette restaurant is fantastic! The only thing I didn't like was the self-parking, which cost $9/day and didn't have an elevator access on most floors of the garage, so you have to lug your suitcase up/down stairs.

My family of 4 loved this hotel.I was worried that the kids( 8 and 3yrs.)might not be welcome but was I wrong. The first day the kids and myself were stuck at the hotel while my husband worked. We had a blast. We swam for hours in the heated pool. The children quickly made friends with other kids.We ordered room service for lunch and they loved the kids menu. Then after a quick nap we headed to the walking trail. There are two(yes two!) playgounds along the trail and water at the tennis courts if they get thirsty. The Club also has all sorts of childcare and a kids gym.The kids didn't want to leave and I can't wait to go back.As for adults, the Club has more than enough activities and classes you can enjoy. The setting is beautiful and wooded and the food is good.
