If you're watching expenses, this hotel is perfect. The staff is friendly, the room is decent, and it's quiet! Inexpensive cab ride to downtown. And the cab drivers are wonderful!

The Hotel was not very nice for the price we paid. The bed was very uncomfortable, including very uncomfortable pillows. The service we received from everyone at the hotel was good, but I was definitely not impressed considering the price we paid.

Our intention was to enjoy the sights of historic Charleston without having the high cost of a downtown location. To that end, this hotel was right on target. It was on the downtown side of the river, so downtown was only a few minutes drive. Surprisingly, there was adequate parking in downtown. Also, the hotel's location to the main rout in and out of charleston was perfect. All told, not a spectacular hotel, but good value and a great off-site location

While for the most part the hotel amenities were nice, the Riverdogs ball park is about 1000 feet from the hotel. Lights from the ball park were glaring through the window, and there were no curtains (beyond sheers) to keep the lights out.

This is NOT a 3 star hotel. My first room was terrible. The toilet leaked and there was water on the floor. The furniture looked like something you would buy at a yard sale. The room was bare and unattractive. The lighting was poor. I overlooked the first floor roof. On a positive note, I complained about the room (specifically, the leaky toilet) and I was moved to a room on the Penthouse floor. This was a nice room, although it was what you would expect to find in a regular hotel room. The hotel was pleasant about the move and very accomodating. In a nutshell, the hotel as a whole is not impressive. Charleston is great place to visit. The only down side to the trip was the initial frustration of the first room. If you are lucky enough to stay on the Penthouse floor, it is not a bad place to stay. Anywhere else, however, is not worth it. The hotel was very convenient to all of the hot spots in Charleston if you have access to a car.

As long as you get a clean room, it's a good enough launching place to visit the city. It's not really in walking distance to the historic district, however, because the roads are highway like adjacent. But it is very close driving and the view was nice. Staff friendly. The place needs some capital investment, but nothing that would make a stay unpleasant.

The view from my room was decent. Could see the baseball stadium. The bathroom was dirty and the bath tub dirty. Housekeeping not good at getting back to you. Realized I left some clothes there and called the day I checked out and twice thereafter with not even a return phone call.

The name is somewhat misleading because unless you're on the entrance side of the hotel you can't see the river. The rooms are small, dark and unimpressive. It took nearly 24 hours to get an extra set of towels from housekeeping. I really expected more for the price. A+ for the hotel's proximity to the market area. C- for service.

The hotel was fine, easy to find, easy to check in and the room was functional. I don't spend much time in hotel rooms while vacationing so I tend to only want the basics. With that said, it is a nice hotel at a reasonable price. Staff was very good.

The hotel was very run down. Our room was very smelly. We weren't sure if it was mold from an earlier flood or stale smoke (even though we had requested a non-smoking room. We asked for a change the second night. That room was cleaner but there were electrical problems. The safety outlet in the bathroom was broken. There was an non-conforming extension plug in the bedroom to use with the bedroom mirror. In addition, housekeeping missed cleaning our room 2 out of 4 days. We arrived back at the hotel after dinner and had to call twice before anyone came to clean!

Location is Not everything. Good location, but service was poor. They advertise internet access, but the only internet service is a dial-up connnection in your room. Unless you have a local telephone number for your ISP, it would cost a fortune to go on line. And there is no business office (hard to believe). The rest of the complaints are reltively minor - insufficient towels, soap, etc. The did not deliver a FedEx package to my room because, I was told, they did not know which room I was in.

Staff was not helpful at all and rude, from request for directions to hotel driving into town to request for calling a taxi later that night. Room smelled bad and AC did not work. While some rooms might have a view of the river, the view out my fifth floor room was of a police dispatch center. Neither within walking distance of historic district nor really safe to walk around or off premises.

Not much of a river view. We thought this hotel was right on the river, it is not. The police station is right next door, that is what we had a view of. The Citadel is quite far down the road, but you can see some of it. There was a convention of some sort in the hotel while we were there so there was a lot of people. The hotel turned off all of the elevators except for one, which made for a long, long wait for your turn to use the elevator. We had to climb 6 flights of stairs as an alternative. We had a smoking room, but none of the windows opened. It was very hot and stuffy even though we had the air conditioning on MAX. We checked at the front desk for a fan and they were all out. The bathroom had mold and mildew in the bathtub area. The tissue box that was mounted on the wall was falling down. There was no trashcan provided in the bathroom. We were so disappointed that we checked out a whole day early and moved to another hotel(even though we had prepaid through Expedia and would not get a refund) This was a somewhat boring place to stay. This hotel was not within walking distance of much, you will need a car rental. There was supposed to be a shuttle of some type, but we did not ever see one or a schedule for one.

Rooms have a view of the river - the higher the floor, the better! Walking distance to downtown without downtown prices. The immediate surrounding area is not the most pleasant for walking (low density buildings, high traffic), but within 5 minutes of walking you can be in a nice Charleston neighborhood. We had a very pleasant stay!
