| Valet drove away in car before we could check in and remove our belongings from the vehicle. Front desk required payment up-front for incidentals. Credit card was in the car that the valet had taken, so we paid a cash deposit. We tried to buy a movie in the room ,but couldn't because we had left a cash deposit instead of a credit card. The doors are thin so you could hear everything in the hall. The ice machine was empty. The clerk didn't give directions to the room until we asked her for help, after wandering around the hotel for 5 mins. The pool was beautifull, but the door to the pool was locked in the middle of the day. We wanted to do some things in the city after we checked out of the hotel, so we asked if we could leave our car in the valet parking till we were done, and that also was not an option. The hotel was pretty and bed was very comfortable, but the service was lacking for the price we paid.

| The Read House is 5 or 6 blocks from the main attractions (aquarium, stadium, etc) and other hotels. It was a pleasant walk to the baseball game and dinner, except for being approached by a couple of vagrants. The hotel has character, the staff was very nice, the pillow top bed was very comfortable, there were nice sheets and pillows, and the hotel and room were clean - except for the shower. The shower (room 336) had quite a bit of pink and black mildew and the walk-in design caused slippery floors - in fact our 4 year old son slipped and fell on the marble transition. There were a number of groups in town for a family reunion on our hallway, so there were people running back and forth between rooms creating a lot of noise. The last night we were awoken at 1 am by a group banging on the door of the room next door and yelling to wake the occupant. It's 12 bucks a night for parking and when you throw in bellman and valet tips it can get expensive.

| Upon arriving, you were made to have a valet park your car, which was not included in the price. Secondly, the type of room I requested I did not receive, so our child had to sleep with us. The rooms looked as though they had not been cleaned in a while. There was dust everywhere, the counters were not clean nor the bathtub. The hotel was very elegant looking in the lobby which was midleading. I would have left if it had not been so late when we checked in. I will probably not stay again unless I'm desperate.

| Overall, an outstanding weekend experience. What I liked: SOFT beds, tasteful contemporary styles match well with historical building, superb service from the staff, close proximity to downtown attractions, large room service selection, and for the level of quality, this hotel is priced very well compared to other top end establishments. What I didn't like: The bathroom, while very clean, was a bit rough compared to the rest of the room, and looked like it needed some rennovation. Valet parking, the only parking option available, is 12 dollars per day, and while not a big problem, it would be nice to have some more options in this regard.

| The Sheraton has managed to retain the historical elegance of this older hotel while providing all the modern comforts and conveiences. We enjoyed the indoor pool and were amazed at the amount and variety of equipment in the fitness center. The location is on the free shuttle line as well as within walking distance of most downtown venues.

| I stayed in a two room suited with a T.V. in each room. The room was spacious and quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. In room movies were a nice way to relax in the evening, and the in room coffee was a great way to wake up. The bathroom seemed small and somewhat cramped compared to the spaciousness of the room. Overall I was pleased with my stay, and I will stay at the hotel again when I am in town on business.

| Nice amenities, indoor pool, historic feel. Being on the trolley line in Chattanooga was extremely helpful for Aquarium and Chattanooga Choo Choo. Starbucks on the ground floor is a real benefit. Be prepared for the valet parking charge. Unfortunately the room was not cleaned once during our 2 night stay. After leaving 3 messages we finally settled for fresh towels. They missed the chance to become excellent in my book. Standard Rooms are a little cramped with the 2 queen beds. Our relatives stayed in a suite which was very nice.

| Hotel did not allow us to check in early, and the hotel clerk was somewhat rude in telling us. Aside from that, the room was exceptional, clean and comfortable. I always check the cleanliness of the carpet, which says alot about the overall cleanliness of the room--the carpet was very clean here! Valet service was prompt and courteous the many times we came/went.

| The Read House has been brought back to life in the same elegant manner as in the past. Really impressive. The staff was extremely accomodating and polite. The only problem was with the air conditioning....with the thermostat set as low as possible it was uncomfortably warm. They assured us it was working properly.

| The Read House has the perfect location. Right downtown near food, shopping, entertainment, and the Chattanooga mountains. They recently underwent a major renovation. It was charming and cozy before, with outstanding service. Now it has only gotten better. I have been to Chattanooga three times in the past two years and each time I have stayed at the Sheraton Read House. I have no desire to stay anywhere else!

| The hotel was recently remodoled and is absolutely beautiful, while the porter steak house is fabulous. This is our second stay and our King Suite was great again with a separate sitting area. The pool was fabulous with waterfalls coming out of the wall and the hot tub was great too. While in the area we visited the Tenessee Aquarium and Rock City, Ruby Falls and Incline Railway on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

| They booked us in a room adjacent to a VERY LOUD outdoor wedding reception, although they knew we were traveling with a 2 year old. So the reception was outside our window until at least midnight, and the front desk first told us they would leave at 11PM, then told us there was nothing they could do to make the party follow their rules (no outdoor speakers, leave at 11PM). It was a horrible experience! The lock was also broken on our door.

| The hotel is listed in the book of Historic Hotels and we've been trying to stay in one of the historic hotels whenever we get a chance. The hotel is an older hotel but appears to have been remodeled recently. We enjoyed our stay and the restaurant (Porters) was excellent. There was road construction but the hotel staff was proactive and told us where to catch the bus. The construction should be completed shortly. We had a larger room (suite?) with a separate sitting area. Since this is an older hotel and many of the rooms appear to be smallish, I'd definitely recommend one of the larger rooms. My wife especially liked the super-soft pillow that was on top of the bed. Not sure what it was but it gets an A+ for the snuggle factor. Although I normally like to self-park the car, we used valet parking and the nominal fee is lumped into the price. It was fine and the parking deck is next to the hotel (somewhere) and is nicely hidden. The hotel is downtown, but it looks like the neighborhood has undergone a redevelopment -- looks like a Starbuck's kind of neighborhood. Based on the recommendation in the Historic Hotels book, we ate at the Hotel cafe (Porter's) and the food was excellent. Get one of the window seats. This is one of the few hotels with a working dial indicator on the elevator. We sent the elevator up to the 7th floor just to see if the dial actually worked.

| The lobby of the Sheraton Read House Hotel Chattanooga features dark wood planks that soar, unbroken, two and a half stories, an elegant architectural detail that simply cannot be reproduced in today's efficiency driven market. However, the suite we were assigned showed signs of inelegant aging--crusty repainted trim, a scarcity of electric outlets, and a cramped bath. However, the on-site restaurant provided delectable meals (be sure to order the pepperloin), served by courteous, professional waitstaff. The hotel's location provided walking access to a downtown in the process of renewal.

I would highly recommend going to this hotel. As for myself, I am going to plan another trip next year and you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be staying there again.
