We had a standard room that was about the size of a postage stamp and the bathroom was even smaller with a very tiny shower and no tub. We will stay there again and upgrade to a larger room because the location is perfect for our needs

I believe the people working at that hotel are pleasant and helpful, but I truly do not know if I would recommend it.; The location is great. The upkeep is questionable. Black stuff was peeling off the shower stall. We had four family members in four different rooms, all the same!!! Its location is the best recommendation.

The rooms are very small and so are the showers (with no tubs mind you), but this is a standard in Waikiki. I have stayed at several hotels throughout Waikiki on my trips there and rooms are never huge. But who cares really, if your going to Hawaii to stay in a hotel all day, your most likely a hermit and you shouldn't be in Hawaii in the first place. The rooms service was great, they did an exceptional job, and they were very friendly. The location is great, only 1 block from the beach (a 2 minute walk) The bed was extremely comfortable and the A/C worked great. The TV was extremely small and didn't offer many channels, but as I stated previously, if your in Hawaii to sit in the room and watch the TV all day and night, then just stay home. I would certainly recommend this hotel for people looking for a place to sleep and shower.

Absolutely great location...close to everything and reasonably priced. Easy to get around town and tour transportation was very accessible. With one light covering both interior and exterior portions of the bathroom, it was difficult to sleep if someone had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. The entire room was lit up! Also, beds could use an upgrade. Most staff was very helpful (front desk) but a few were abrupt when I asked questions. Definitely a family hotel, but not a luxury hotel.

Good location, with some good places close by, but room was extremely tiny(nothing like pictures). Bell-staff is a bit mercenary & tends to swarm- be careful. Also, I made a couple short calls home and they zapped me with a HUGE phone bill. I felt like I was getting ripped off in a third world country, & let them know it.

We were greeted outside the parking area by the parking attendent. He called the bell captain to get our luggage. He took our car keys and told us to go with the bell captain to check in and our keys will be at the parking office when we want them. The bell captain took our luggage to the checkin desk and mthen to our room. This kind of service lasted our entire stay. Thank you for an enjoyable week. Hope to return someday!

This hotel offered a good location within walking distance to most places in Waikiki. The upper floor room we had helped to diminish the street level noise. Staff was friendly. Elevators were very busy between 8:00am to 8:00pm. Only drawback to the room was small shower. Wireless internet access is available at an Ohana hotel accross the street. Parking garage was tight...recommend a compact car. Otherwise a good economical place to stay.

My recent trip to Hawaii this past June 2006 entailed a stay at Ohana West. This was my first time in Hawaii so I was unsure of whether Ohana West would be a good choice. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Although it was not on the beach, and realizing that it also was not a five star hotel, I thought I got an extremely good value. The hotel staff were very accomodating, including the cleaning staff!! The room was large and clean. Even though it is not brand new, the bathroom shower worked great, the towels and linens were high quality, and the sliding glass door opened up to a balcony that overlooked the city of Waikiki. We could even see the ocean from our room. Even more convenient is that the hotel is right next across the street from a reasonable grocery store and only 2 blocks from a really good part of the Waikiki beach. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any family who is looking for a reasonable way to visit Hawaii - you spend most of the time outside in the beautiful weather anyway.

All in all, we would stay again.

I was excited to go to Hawaii for the first time and chose to stay at this hotel do to the pictures and also the price compared to other hotels in the area. I we got there it wasn't that bad but it seemed as the day went on things just got worse. The shower was so small that you could barely turn around in it. When you plugged things into the outlets the plug would just fall out. I have never heard of having to pay for parking at a hotel that you are staying at but you had to pay here. Beware that it is $15 a day just to park your car, and then if you try and go somewhere in the evening or morning you have to go get someone to move all the cars that are blocking you in because they don't have enough parking for the rooms that they have. We had a scheduled tour and had to wait about 15 minutes before we could finally get out of the parking garage. There is 17 floors of rooms and there is only 3 elevators, you wait forever to actually get an elevator you can get on.

I would say the hotel is okay and ideal for my trip, in terms of budget. I like the location, only five minutes to the beach. It is very convenient for shopping, eating, walking, and transporting. There's a supermarket, just right next to the hotel, and a small and very economical Chinese express eatery in the International Market Place, just in front of the Hotel. However, I would say that do not stay outside on Kuhio street, late at night. It's a little noisy on the street, as some guys shouted on the street. Overall, I would say it is an ideal place to stay, in terms of budget. I would stay at the hotel for my next trip.

Close to everything, nice walks, food pantry on the corner. We stayed on the 9th floor. Beds were uncomfortable, room clean, staff friendly and took care of our needs and requests. Very noisey between 2 & 4:30 a.m. in the front of hotel. We had an ocean front view and could tell when the bars closed. The hotel served our purpose to sleep and shower. Who goes to Hawaii to stay in the room?

We go to Hawaii every year. We use to stay at the Ohana Waikiki Village but Lewers street is getting a face lift so that is no longer an option. We selected Ohana Waikiki West based on it's close proximity to the beach. Just cut through the International Market Place (or go around the corner) and you're there. The only complaint I would have is that the room we were in didn't have a bathroom vanity/countertop. Just a free-standing sink. For those of use who like to lay out all our "beauty secrets and appliances" it was impossible to do and I had to use the top of the dresser. Apparently there are rooms where the bathrooms have vanities. We'll be staying there again in December.

If your looking for just the basic hotel that has a good location and your willing to cut it a little short on the quality Ohana Waikiki West is a good choice. Just two blocks away from the beach, right across the street from the International Market, and even a bus stop outside your door. Its pretty good price wise and just contains the basics for any stay. One "downer" of the hotel was the $15 a day parking fee, but other than that pretty good.

This hotel was not a 3 star. I would give it 2 stars. The room was so small I had to climb over my luggage to get out of the bed. My bf had to put his in the hallway by the bathroom. Our room was definitely not as spacious as the one in their pictures. The shower stall didn't have anywhere to put any toiletries, besides soap. The toilet constantly dripped and was held up against the wall with a small 2x4. There was a nice long curly black hair on the top of the toilet. My last complaint about the room (and maybe most important) was that there were small bugs everywhere. They looked like small ants. I found about 5 of them on a bottle of water on my nightstand. I also saw them in other places in the room. The place was gross. My boyfriend and I tried to spend the least amount of time possible in the room. Also when we checked in they gave us the card-key to the room and sent us on our way, without providing us with some much needed information. Our room was located on the 16th floor, so obviously we had to take the elevator. We pressed the 16th floor button, and then we proceeded to go up to the 7th floor...down to the lobby...up to the 1st floor...etc. Finally someone else got on the elevator and told us that we had to insert our card-key above the floor buttons in order for the elevator to go to our floor. It certainly would have been nice for the hotel staff to have informed us of that. If you can at all afford it, pay a few extra bucks for a nicer place.

If you are wanting a place to lay your head and that has clean sheets close to the beach then this is the place to be. It was very convenient to everything around, including the marketplace (right across the street) Denny's for a good old "Mainland" breakfast, the grocery store across the street, all the tour buses and "The Bus" picked up right outside. The "Aunties" that look after your room are very freindly but don't do as good a job as you had hoped. But if your in the Islands you don't spend much time in the room anyway, so it was a good place to be.

I picked this place based on its location and price. The room was small but comfortable and my balcony faced the city. The parking was $15/day which I'm sure was standard for that area. Overall, I would stay there again if it was the best bargain but if you're looking for an upscale hotel keep looking but if you want to be near waikiki beach and pay a little less this place was as good as any.

This hotel is REALLY conveniently located - Waikiki beach is two blocks away, supermarket and Starbucks next door, across the street from the International Market, and surrounded by shops and restaraunts. My room had a nice view of the ocean on one side and mountains on the other. The room I got was small but clean (although the walls are really thin, as the other reviewers have mentioned), perfect for someone who doesn't need or want to spend much time in the room. The bars in the hotel invited some roudy drunk people - not sure if guests or non-gusests - onto the premises but it was generally tolerable. The three elevators were not as slow as the other reviewers commented on but that might have been because of the times I took it. Not luxury, but great for what it is.

Ohana West is part of the Outrigger & Ohana chain; the Ohanas are the lower end hotels bought by the company. This hotel was definitely something from the late 60s to 70s; at least the decor seemed to be from that era; lots of pukey greens reminiscent of my dorm room at London (which was from the 60s). The room was a bit smaller than I expected, but all that aside, we had an ocean-facing room (we can see the beach in between a couple of tall buildings; we could also see the surfers quite well with our binoculars) with a balcony, the A/C worked very well, the bed was comfortable (I did not wake up from back pain at all throughout my stay, in my world, that is a comfortable bed!) and the shower has great water pressure even though we were on the 16th floor. The tiled floor of the shower was a bit of concern as I am not sure how clean it was in the grout; we wore our flip flops in the shower just in case. The staff was overall friendly and helpful. The location is great: just across the street from the International Market Place and about 10 minutes walk from the beach. Not bad for the price we paid.
