My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Du Fort and we were very happy with the place. The service was top-notch and it provided a great location in the heart of downtown Montreal. Rooms were clean and bed, sofa and chairs were extremely comfortable. Staff was friendly and very helpful. My only slight complaint was the walls are a little thin and can get noisy. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

IT's a good place for what it is; just don't expect luxury. The lack of a blow direr or cd player was a bit irritating, but the service was excellent and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Good location too.

Walking distance to the metro, shopping district and restaurants. Internet cafe just across the street. Parking was not a problem (during March) but be sure to read the street signs beforehand or you can park at the hotel for $16 per day. Very friendly english speaking staff. Rooms are very clean and well maintained and include a small wet-bar area. Breakfast buffet is around $15 and worth the convenience if you don't want to leave the hotel in the morning. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and wouldn't hesitate going back.

Very clean with friendly staff. Great location and we parked under the building which was secure from the outside. Subway only 2 blocks to get away to points of interest so we didn't have to drive. Supermarket, clothing stores, pubs, and money exchange within 1 min. walk. Just a Great Time and would stay here again.

Upon arrival at the conveniently located Hotel du Fort, we were greeted by English and French hotel staff. Very friendly simple check in. A bit of confusion at check out regarding tax refund for foreigners. ***Print your EXPEDIA online receipt BEFORE you go to Canada and have it stamped at customs when you return to US.*** The mini kitchen is great to save $, plus there is a supermarche right across the street. Not too far from Rue Crescent, a great restaurant row. Close to Metro station, safe area. Wanted to stay an extra week, it was fantastic!

We went to this hotel based on the recommendations we read about it on Expedia.com; however, we were not as impressed by the hotel as were the other reviewers apparently. Though our room was huge (great if you were lodging with several other people), the toilet ran continually, even after pointing it out to the staff. When we checked out two days later, it still ran continuously. We had one bath robe for 2 people; we asked for a second robe, but it never appeared. We did not have a TV remote for the set in our "den" area, meaning we had to cross the room each time we wanted to change the channel. We asked for a remote, but it did not arrive either. As foolish as this may sound, the inconvenience grew annoying very quickly, and it reminded us repeatedly of how all of us have grown accustomed to TV remotes! Seasoned travelers would probably prefer a hotel in a less "youthful" area or in a more upscale area (my impression was that this was a great location if you were in college or had just graduated), though the hotel itself was very quiet. We agree with the other reviewers, though, that the staff was very friendly. Despite that, given the other factors, we would most likely not stay here again. Next time we're in Montreal, we'll look to stay elsewhere.

Hotel Du Fort was excellent... the staff was extremely nice and helpful and the room was just what we needed. The location is also wonderful... on the corner of St. Catherine's Street, the main street which is filled with restaurants and bars. There is a currency converter store just about 1/2 a block away and the metro is about 4 or 5 blocks away, making travel very easy. Parking is $15/night plus tax in the underground garage.
