Our room was very clean and quiet despite the road nearby. The hotel's location is very convenient: close to the piers, shops, restaurant. It has also a central location between the Kona coast and the Kohala coast which allowed us to move around very easily during the day and come back to the hotel at night. I am sure you will like it too if, like us, you just spend the night out there and spend the day visiting the Big Island.

Pleasant hotel people and a great place to stay with walking close to the market for shopping. Lots of things to do around the area. Only challenge was the little amount of parking available for the hotel guest. Nice rooms, clean and comfortable. Pool area was clean and fun to swim.

Now a days you find more people looking at star ratings rather than quality ratings. The hotel was well designed with very considerate and friendly staff. I'd recommend this hotel, and any in their chain for anyone who is interested in keeping their stay an enjoyable one at their desired destination; be it Kona, Hilo, Maui or whereever.

Very disappointed. We didn't get much rest at this hotel. Our view at the Kona "Seaside" Hotel was of a busy intersection. Trucks woke me up all hours of the night. Noise from traffic started around 6 AM. Groups of loud motorcycles constantly went up and down the street, especially on weekends. The rent them at the next corner. When the gardners came, they started using their leaf blowers at 7 AM making it impossible to sleep. If we left any food in the room, we instantly had ants. We had to keep our trash on the patio to keep them out. The screen door to the patio didn't slide and was always off the track. The beds were old, small and uncomfortable. The TV was very small. We didn't even get a coffee maker. Parking is not included. They want $6 a day to park in their lot. We always found a free spot in the public lot next to the hotel. Take that additional cost into account when comparing the price to other hotels.

Friendly, clean, safe and comfortable place to stay, only disadvantage is the traffic noise. It sits on the corner of a busy intersection. If you book a room at the Seaside Kona, there are some quiter rooms in the garden at the back.

3rd floor room - no elevator. Bugs on dresser. People next door sounded like they were talking into my window, luckily everyone was quiet at night. The hotel was inexpensive and I had a view of the water so it was a trade off. If you are looking for a place to flop for a couple of nights and take a dip in the pool this is great, but if you want any amenities besides that forget it.

This is a good, basic place to stay during a Big Island visit. It's not a destination resort. Location is convenient, staff is helpful and friendly, rooms are clean and well kept, the hotel laundromat is cheap. Parking costs $6.00 per day, there aren't enough stalls and the stalls are narrow. There's no on-premise food service, shops, or internet service. If you're in the tower, facing Palani St, be prepared to choose between listening to Harley's (from the motorcycle rental agency just outside the hotel) roar up and down Palani St or the roar of the in room fan a/c -- plus the garbage men banging dumpsters at 4 am. We spent 7 nights there and would return (to a different part of the facility) on another visit.

Exceptionally clean hotel with cheerful front desk staff and an unbeatable price. While the htoel is a bit worn, the staff and local owners do a great job keeping things up. Few accomodations -- not all rooms have elevator access, which is a pain if you overpack. Right in the middle of town -- a great place to stay while visiting Kona! Only complaint...uncomfortable beds.

I was actually surprised by this hotel. It's nice and clean. We booked a non-smoking room, but as we arrived 2 hours before check-in, we asked if they had a room for us. The non-smoking room were not cleaned yet, but we could get a smoking room imideately. We checked it out before accepting, and it was great. No smell at all. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. The TV had lots of channels. There was no internet access. The pool was a little cold. The sea was warmer (and this was 1. jan.).

This is an older 200+ room hotel with 2 pools and an attached restaurant that serves decent meals. The rooms are basic, walls a little thin, but for budget travel it provides good value. Downtown location, you're within 5 to 10 minuts walking distance of main retail/restaurant/tourist strip along Alii Drive/Harbor. Hotel's restaurant provides nice harbor view from the front tables as it's on a 2nd story. Meals are decent and good price/value. Public lot is down the street and no gurarantee of a space. I'd stay again.

The hotel was good at a decent price. The only hassle is the parking. They sell it separately for an extra charge and when we checked in, they ran out of parking spots. So couldn't buy a spot from them. Anyway the city's free parking is really closeby, so we could park there. We didn't have trouble finding a spot there but I am told that others have had trouble finding a parking spot there.

Our second stay...It is well situated to stores, shops, restaurants, and major road ways for Kona. The hotel is not plush...very basic accommodations...but it is clean and the service is good. Our room was comfortable, quiet, and maid service cleaned daily by noon. Everything worked in the room and we had no problems. They have began to charge $5/day for parking at the hotel. There is public parking only half a block away but it is often full so opt for the hotel parking. The fridge in the room is small so don't count on stocking up at the grocery store. No coffee maker in the room and only two ice machines for the whole hotel. The gounds are well manacured and the two swimming pools are both very nice and well maintained. Good value for the dollar.

THis room was very small. The a/c is a very, very noisy window unit in the back wall. The place looks (inside ) like something from the 1950s. The beds were lumpy, the pillows about 1/2 inch thick. The shower was so bad, it would only push the water about 1 inch , and that was from about half the holes. I'm almost bald and it took 5 minutes to wash my head. The parking is far from the rooms and they charge you to park on the grounds. I would rather sleep in my car next time!
