Stayed a week and would return to this hotel. Nice lobby, airy and open. Helpful staff...the bellmen held our bags until the room was ready to check in. Great location...1 block from Waikiki beach, 1 block from the zoo. Nice view of Diamond Head and Waikiki beach from our 17th floor room. Kitchenette had fridge and microwave and hotplate. Balcony rather small but better than none. Fairly easy access since it is at the south end of Waikiki (not in the center). Parking is tight, but the attendants were helpful and accomodating. Not fancy, but sufficient and reasonable.

Hotel was good for the money. It was good location, room was roomy, toilet and shower worked well, clean, could use new carpet. We bought bus passes at ABC and went around on bus but it was a little hard figuring out how they work and we spent a lot of extra time waiting and taking a wrong route once. May not be the best option if you aren't used to city buses. If there are jelly fish (7-9 days after full moon) go to North Shore - they are only on the south shore. Rented a car later - there was parking across the street when our hotel lot was full. Enjoy your trip!

Overall I was pleased with the hotel for the price. It needs to be updated. The valet parking was an excellent service. The beds left my back very stiff during the night, might consider what my wife and I did: We requested another down comforter and placed it over the mattress. Overall though, a good experience, I would recommend it.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at this hotel and it was a "best buy" so to speak. The prices were affordable, the view was great (we had an ocean view), and it was only a block from the beach. If you don't intend to spend much time in your hotel room (the moderate room we had was a bit small), then this place is perfect. Although the hotel is probably about 30-35 years old, it is still well-maintained and our room was cleaned daily by the maids. The restaurant in the lobby has decent food as well (I would just stay away from the breakfast special!). Our only cons were: -Extremely Cold Swimming Pools (which close at 6pm) -Maids came by at completely different times each day (anywhere from 1030am - 300pm)

This hotel was not expensive nor was it the cheapest place either. Very middle of the road, but served the purpose of a place to sleep since we did not stay in the room much while we were there due to the beautiful weather. I think it would have been a different story if the weather had been rainy.

My family & I stayed at the Ocean Resort for 6 nights in June 2006. I was extremely impressed with the friendliness of the hotel staff. HUGE room!! Our room was immaculately cleaned daily!! The parking leaves A LOT to be desired. One lane in and one lane out...unfortunately it's the same lane! Parking garage in made for very compact cars. We always had a spot even late at night when it had to be valet parked. The elevators are really slow but the staff is quick to grab one for you if they see you coming. Even they know it's their downfall. Excellent location for shopping, restaurants and trolley/bus line. One short block from Waikiki Beach. Would stay there again and highly recommend this hotel keeping in mind what I talked about earlier. ALOHA!!

Spent a week at this hotel. Room was a good size with plenty of amenities. Location was ideal: walking distance to the beach, stores, park and bus stop. A safe location with above good restaurants near by. We could see Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head from our hotel room. There is plenty to see within walking distance. The hotel elevator was slow at times, and the pool left a lot to be desired. But having said that I would definitly still stay here again.

Very short walk to the beach and location is close to the zoo and park. Rooms are dated, but every effort appears to exist to keep the hotel clean and comfortable. If you plan on using the garage, be aware accomodatations are limited and be careful they don't park you in... could impact your plans for an early departure to the airport.

We just returned from 9 nights at this hotel and found it acceptable for the price. We had a kitchenette which provided a great way to save a little money. The room was large, 2 full beds and a single. The room was clean, not spotless, and was comfortable. TV reception was good. Desk staff were polite. I didn't use the pool, it look ed uninviting. Housekeeping was done by lunchtime. Short walk to the beach. This was our 4th visit and first time at the Kuhio Beach end of Waikiki. In the future we will stay at the Ft. DeRussy end, it is quieter, the beach is wider, less crowded, more families, less noise, more shade trees and grass, BBQ's and fewer homeless. Yes, this hotel was a little tatty, but even the lobby of one of the oldest, four-star hotels in Waikiki had worn carpeting and needed a vacuum, this is a relaxed beach community and that is how things are. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who was on a budget. I felt safe and the place was clean.

Hi, If you plan to have a nice vacation in Hawaii, choose something else. The room is dirty and bad maintained, the people at the front desk are kind of rude, and the lobby is a disgrace. Even though wireless internet costs $7 a day, it barely works. The towels leave lint all over the place, and the shower-head is placed at 4 feet (i'm 6+ feet tall). I moved to a nicer hotel after 3 days here and was much much happier. Spend a little extra but have a nice vacation!

We had a great view on ocean side on the 18th floor with a kitchenette. The bed was so comfortable. The ladies who did the cleaning in the rooms were very nice and helpful. It might not be as glamorous as other hotels but suited us quite nicely. There were only two elevators so you might have a bit of a wait to go down. The pool on the 3rd floor was very secluded.

The hotel was very inexpensive and that is why we stayed there but it is extremely outdated. Very very old. They don't even have their own parking lot so if the garage adjacent to the hotel is full, you are on your own to find a parking place somewhere in Waikiki which is expensive. Also, to use the safe in the room (for your expensive belongings) cost extra every day. They had a coffe pot but no coffee and when I could the front desk they said that they do not offer that. Also, the "kichenette" icluded a hot plate for a stove. The eleveators were extremely slow! It was quicker for me to walk the stairs 7 flights to wait for that thing. I was not impressed at all.

First off, parking at the hotel is $10.00 a day. There isn't even half the number of parking spots as there is rooms so where do you park if the spots are all full?! They placed us in a smoking room when I clearly asked for a non-smoking room without even consulting us. The very first night maintenance had to be called because of the shower being broken. You would think they would have checked that BEFORE they put us there! This is the 2nd time we've stayed here, the first time was 100 times better, and the last. I do not recommend this hotel at all.

I don't know how much I paid for the hotel since it was a package, but for a 2-star hotel, it was great. In a quiet part of town, but within walking distance of everything! Nice, clean rooms; good, friendly enough staff. Certainly seems very popular with tour groups, seeing many come and go. Didn't have an ocean view room like my parents' but very quiet and spacious enough. There was no hairdryer/iron in our room, but my parents' deluxe room was very nice, with a small kitchenette and all the amenities. Apparently you can rent a hairdryer in the gift shop downstairs. Didn't use the pool so don't know how it was, but hotel is only half a block from beach. I would stay there again.

It's not a luxury hotel but it's clean and very convenient. The beach is two blocks away and TheBus stops right outside the hotel entrance. We had an efficiency which was great because we bought breakfast materials and ate in -- a good way to cut the high prices -- we had a refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster(large mouth) and microwave and the hotel provided plates, cups, silverware, towels, a sponge and dish detergent. Our little balcony had a direct view of Diamondhead and they even dropped off the newspaper every morning. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful and pleasant especially the concierge. There are two stores in the hotel and a separate computer center which was easy to use and inexpensive -- it even had a printer. There's also a nice little restaurant on the ground floor that had dinner specials every night. We spoke to several people who were repeat travelers. I'd certainly stay there again.

Being the hotel snob that I am I was apprehensive about this new hotel our friends had recommended. For the price you cannot beat this deal...we had an ocean view superior room that we purchased thru the internet pricing. The view was fabulous, we were given a newspaper each morning, all the kitchen amenities, ABC store right next door, one block from the zoo, and the beach just two blocks away!! The beach with a lot of the main activities. The bed was firm (I prefer soft but had no problems with the comfort). Our balcony had two chairs and a small table. If you are traveling with family I recommend the deluxe ocean view superior room. These have 2 queen beds, the kitchenette, the balconies, and plenty of room. ENJOY (ALOHA)
