We got an 2br ocean view condo, the view was excellant and you could throw a stone in the ocean from our balcony. The place was huge as it also had a loft. It had full almost new appliences including washer and dryer. The grounds were very nice and quite, except for the waves crashing against the rocks.

The condo met all the needs of our family vacation. The grounds and condos are kept up nicely. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Not all units have air conditioning, ours had it available for an extra fee. Take note that in the two bedroom condos, the second bedroom is very small. Since you spend most of your time away from the room not a deal breaker. I would recommend this property.

Comfortable condo for my family. Grounds were lovely and facilities very nice. The furnishing were somewhat outdated but again comfortable. The carpet was pretty dingy and obviously old. The room was clean however. The surroundings were quiet and the ocean front waves very peaceful. It was nice to be away from any hustle and bustle that we sometimes experience.

This is a condo type facility and the units are in separate 2 story buildings that have 2 to 4 units. Ours (3401) was a nicely furnished 1 bedroom (very large with it's own outside deck area) and 2 full bathrooms. The unit had a fully stocked kitchen and an area that housed a washer and dryer. The complex has 3 pools including one that overlooks the ocean (No beach at the site) There is a great adjoining golf course. Although this is on the dry Kona coast, it was beautifully landscaped. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Friendly and helpful staff.

The condominiums were quite and peaceful. The rooms were spacious and clean. I would only comment on the see through window drapes. I didn't mind too much in the living room but I like to have privacy in the bedroom. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back.

We stayed in a two bedroom unit overlooking the ocean pool that was very large and very clean with newer appliances that all worked great. Our unit had central air conditioning (apparently not all units do) that costs an extra $15/day to use. We opted for it the first night, but once we opened everything up and got the fans going it was very comfortable without having to use it, so we didn't use it for the rest of our stay (be sure to bring the key back to the desk so you don't get charged for it). The location of the complex is also very good, close to Kona, but far enough away to not seem so touristy.

We liked: -Large unit was comfortable for a group to hang out in the living area or around the dining table -Full size kitchen was well furnished (7 types of glasses and mugs!) -Maytag Neptune washer & dryer in the unit with laundry detergent -Cable TV with full standard channel lineup -Assigned parking included with unit -Quiet grounds away from road traffic We disliked: -Unit was generally grimy and had scuff marks on the floors and stained carpet -Housekeeping was sloppy; on check-in we found a used soap and towel in the master bathroom, and we had to ask twice for re-cleaning -$15 per day to turn on the A/C

We stayed at a two bedroom condo in July 2005. We were very comfortable, and the location was great. We liked staying there much better than the hotel we had in Hilo. Here we were able to shop at Costco for some meals, the kayak trip was just around the corner, the pool was a nice place to relax after a day of fun in the sun. We didn't try the restaurant on site, but we grilled some awesome salmon on the grill outside the pool area. We'd go back.

Our condo was very nice...and a lot more room than my wife & I needed. It was HUGE!!! 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom, & loft, a kitchen, a huge master bathroom. Also, that staff was nothing but nice and prompt. Story: We accidently broke the coffee table(there wa a glass center in it). I was sick about it, thinking that, in true hotel fashion, they would charge us $200 to replace it. I went to the office & explained what happened. The maintenance man came over and fixed the table(replaced the glass) and told us that he really appreciated our honesty and that there would be no charge! All of this happened within 30 minutes. Very nice people there. There was also assigned parking at no extra charge.

Expected a room, but got a condo. Fully equipped, including washer & dryer. Great kitchen. Great views. Two bedrooms. Two full baths. Just us two, but could accomodate as many as eight. All the comforts of home. Didn't have to live out of a suitcase. Tons of closet space on both floors. Expedia got us our money's worth and more.

The Kanaloa at Kona is a great place to stay, especially if you have a family. The condo has all the comforts of home. It was clean and fully furnished. It is located in an area away from downtown Kona so you really get that island feel but Kona is only a 10 minute drive away. The staff is friendly and helpful. We will definitely think about staying there again.

Everything at the Kanaoloa turned out to be perfect. The location: just off highway 11 and 2 minutes from the Keahou shopping center which is convenient (and cost savings if you eat "at home" most of the time--and with kids, that's not a bad idea). The room: 2 bedroom fairway view unit on the ground floor. Unlike many other condos we have rented, this was very clean (they even had white carpet and furniture)but comfortable. The amenities: The pools were clean and not crowded. Activities: They have a Childrens Activity Director and they take kids for "bug hunts", arts and crafts and other neat things. This place really does "have it all" without the high cost of a "keiki kamp" available at some of ther high-end resorts. Downside: If you need A/C, it's not available, but you really don't need it. Also, they have round-the-clock security that cruises the property in a golf cart. If you're a light sleeper (like me), you'll hear/see the guard 2-3 times a night due to the fact that you'll have the louvers open for cross ventilation. Lastly, the Kanaloa has great geckos that hang out on your lanai. You can get really close and even pet them sometimes. If you see a little guy without a tail, that would be "Charlie." Please be nice to him. Mahalo

Nice quiet setting on the Kona Coast. Rocky beach - no swimming in the sea here. Very large condos in a tropical setting. Lot's of retired folks and, as a result, some rules (i.e.one of the 3 pools is adults only) that will make teenagers feel like they are staying in a retirement community. If you don't have teenagers I would recommend it for relatively inexpensive and spacious rooms in a quiet setting. One note - no AC in the units if that matters to you.
