This hotel is trading on The Ritz Carltons reputation and doesnt live up to it. Concerns are too numerous to mention but include being woken at 6am by workman in the room next door, no replacement tolitries, no room cleaned one day, no hot water, unasked for wakeup call at 4am on morning etc etc. Do not stay here if you expect 5 star service etc you will be disappointed - Very bad value for money

The rooms are probably due for a renovation. We had a garden view room that faced the pool area. Not sure if it was just too much humidity, but the room had a strong musty odor and the carpet felt damp. Our TV didn't have a remote either. The spa was in a totally separate building (i think you have to take a shuttle to get there). Also, this is on a very windy part of the island. Golf course looks nice, but I would stay somewhere else.

Ritz Carlton is my favorite place to stay where ever I travel. I was let down on a few things as I compared my last stay in Sarasota FL to Maui. Bed matress pillow top was worn out. Pool side chair set up was non existant. "It is my Pleasure" was only heard from one employee during four days stay. Don't miss understand this review. I love the Ritz. I don't like to see the level lowered at any Ritz location. The Ritz brand is recognized as elite, I don't want to see the bar lowered at any location. I love great customer care. I love connecting with the staff. I did get to talk to some really neat Ritz people while I was there. I heard there stories of how they came to serve at the Ritz. Great time.

Compare rates at this property with others along the Kaanapali and Kapalua coasts and you'll find it's not that much more expensive - if you book it as a package (just add a car) - than many of the other properties in this area. Definitly worth the extra effort. Hotel itself is a great find. The private beach is also a plus - most of the other properties on this side of the island share a beach.

We have stayed at numerous RC's in the past two years. Usually on their Club Level. We had two Club Level rooms for our family vacation at Kapalua. The rooms were great and the service in the lounge was incredible. The pool area is great, though at times windy. The only complaint is the $18.00 resort fee charged to each room per day. After paying for two very expensive Club Level rooms for a week I didn't expect to be presented with a hidden fee. I inquired about it at the front desk and was told "this is a resort, that is the fee for the resort".

The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua is a gorgeous hotel and the staff are all extremely friendly. They also go out of their way to provide exemplary service. During our stay, my husband forgot his Blackberry charger; the concierge tracked one down for him immediately and sent it to our room. The Banyan Tree is an excellent restaurant, the pools are beautiful, the beach is just a short walk down past the pools. Beautiful leis and POG juice upon arrival. Terrace restaurant has a great buffet breakfast. I just can't say enough great things about our stay!

I chose this hotel for the expericence of staying in a 5 Star Hotel. I know these "How am I doing" rating questionaires only want positive comments. Therefore, I have delayed responding until now, I had some issues. 1. The young lady who assisted me with my arrangements for this trip was just perfect. However, apparently I missed the part that stated I would be paying RESORT fees daily. I arrived at the hotel at 9:00 pm on the first day. (the day was over) 2. Our room must have been located over the power plant, and the constant hum of a moter was very disturbing when trying to sleep. I decided it was was one of the CHEAP rooms, inasmuch as it was package trip. I would NOT recommend a package trip for fellow travelers.

Never stayed at a Ritz before and probably expected too much... Rooms were older and furniture has not been updated in our middle price room. Had the essentials: comfortable bed, very clean bathroom, TV, and internet. Not a "fancy room" but nice. The staff, food, and hotel grounds however, were OUTSTANDING. Stay here mostly if you like to lounge, play golf, and play tennis. However, if you have a fun-loving, frolicking family, I'd recommend staying at another place. Beach has rough waves (at least in February) and no lifeguard. Have to drive to get to more sheltered beaches. We ran out of things to do at the resort very quickly. However, if your family likes a more low-key vacation, the Ritz is reasonably kid friendly and is definitely less busy than some other resort hotels.

We felt llike royalty when we stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua. It was so beautiful set up high on the hill and so peaceful as it was in a more remote area of Maui. Service was great and we loved being served frozen cocktails poolside. DT Fleming beach was absolutely gorgeous, although the waves were up to 10 feet high as the winter surf tends to pound the north shore. The only drawback was that it was far from attractions and we had to allow extra driving time. We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon. The Ritz Carlton Kapalua is an absolutely beautiful resort. It is a perfect location... far enough from town to feel secluded and private, but still within driving distance should you feel the need to leave the property. Our room was an oceanview room with a beutuful view from our private lanai. The pool is a stunning 3 tier pool, with an exceptional staff to get drinks and food poolside. Just below the hotel is a private beach for hotel guests... very nice! The staff was so friendly and helpful at all times, always offering an "Aloha" with a smile. Overall, I would whole-heartedly recommend this hotel, and will defintely be returning!

When someone says Ritz Carlton, they immediately think of the branded reputation for excellence and class. This, is not what I thought of the Ritz in Maui... This hotel has many drawbacks: Location--windy and cold, beach is not that desireable Ambience--I learned quickly not stay there if you are single. It's like there's something wrong with you if you are not a Mrs. Service--3 out of 5 stars Cleanliness--Found bugs in my bathroom (not sure if they were roaches or just "island bugs") Expensive--It's not about the money, it's the value. I've stayed in nicer hotels and ate better food for moderate prices. Stay in Kanaapali and enjoy the beaches there. I heard the hotels are more exciting and the day spas are superior. It's all a matter of preference. I prefer to stay elsewhere next time I visit.

This place is very nice. We did not go out much because we would like to enjoy the amenities and the services the hotel offers. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi, gym, and basketball courts. You have to try their spa and massage. We walk down to the beach area. The water there is a little bit rough than other beaches but it's a nice place to sip your drink and read a book or newspaper and just relax. We'll bring food by the beach and chow down watching the ocean.

Although we knew that Kapalua gets more wind than other areas of Maui we were not prepared for how much more. The weather was warm but the wind could knock your hat off so be prepared. Go down to the beach to get out of the wind as it is sheltered. Our only complaint, with the accommodations, was that we had paid for an Ocean View room and were taken to a room that offered a view of the ocean if you stood on the balcony and looked passed a pilar. We protested and then we were given a lovely room with a great view.

The partial ocean view rooms are very partial--if you stand on the balcony and crook your neck, you will see the ocean in the distance. But the view of the mountains is beautiful, too! The area around the hotel is beautiful, as well. The worst part of the vacation was having to leave!!

Aside from the hotel being gorgeous, the staff is extremely courteous. Even the housekeeper exchanged anniversary stories with us. We were fortunate to receive a free upgrade out of luck, and received a welcome card and amenity to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel helped us book an incredible bike tour down the Haleakala volcano and also reserved a cabana for us by the pool next to the waterfall. The room was larger than we expected and the butler bath is a luxury must!

We thought that was very sweet of him and the hotel staff. Everyone at the hotel was very helpful, sweet, and around when you needed something. The food was great, expensive but wroth the money. The maids kept the rooms very clean. If you stay at this hotel you won't regret it, trust me. This hotel was expensive, but worth every penny.
