There's an air of ambiance as once checks into the the Hollywood Roosevelet. The dark dimly lit lobby that leads to the Mezanine floor gives the sense that there is perhaps something other than the ordinary occuring here. After the glimmer of photographer bulbs diminish however the muggy atmosphere of stench air in the lobby and the uncleanliness of the elevator is extremely disappointing. The rooms are very modernly and nicely designed with cute details, the room service menue though is in dire need of better selections and better quality.

I was quite surprised at this hotel. I had read the reviews before going and some people said the workers at the Roosevelt were rude. I found them to be very friendly and nice. The only problems we had were the first day. I requested a early check in but their computers were down so they couldn't put me in a room. then when I returned later that day they misplaced my check-in information, so it took time to find it and we requested 2 double beds but all they had was a king size bed. And the only other thing was they don't have ice machines so you have to call room service and that took a long time for them to deliver. but all in all it was a good time.

This hotel is in a great location however don't plan on spending much time in the room. The room was very small just big enough for the furniture in it. The bathroom was barely big enough for the tub, sink and toilet. I had heard the a/c was loud but nothing can prepare you for it. At night I tried shutting it off but the noise from the private pool parties was even more annoying. The only thing to do was to turn it way down so it never shut off. That way it was a constant noise you got used to and drown out the party. If you are young and plan on being out very late this is a great place to stay. If you are older and used to quality stay somewhere else.

The location of the hotel is one of the best in LA, it carries an air of cool, it has an impressive history, and a really nice design. However I was a bit disappointed about the craftmanship specially within my room. My biggest disappointment was the quality of service when having b'fast at the Dakota restaurant. But this seemed to be a general problem that I encountered throughout LA. Overall I was happy with what I got. As I was upgraded to a larger room, I felt the value for money was good and I can recommend the hotel specially to movie buffs - just focus on the big picture and try to overlook the details.

Great experience at the Roosevelt Hotel. Located in active area with many things to do within a 3 block radius. Other reviewers are correct in stating the hotel is dimly lit and the paint is chipped in some areas, but that is what is attractive and chic about the stlye and demeanor of a historical hotel. I enjoyed the dimly lit hallways, lounges, and areas of the hotel. The pool is an excellent place to chill out and relax. I highly recommend this hotel to travelling singles and couples without children.

Hotel is old and very dark (hallways painted black) and dim lighting everywhere. Room beds are low, steel frame secured and not very comfortable. Room offers what looks lie a prescription pill bottle of M&M's upon check-in (to remember Marilyn Monroe's Overdose and death there). The pool turns in to a private club at 8:30pm and attracks a very unusual crowd. One night I was out late and arrived back at 2am and it took me 45mins to get to the valet pkg as the private club guests were leaving. 4 Star rating is questionable.

The location of the hotel is perfect. You do not need to rent a car, everything we wanted to do was either within walking distance or a short train ride. The employees at the hotel were very nice and the concierge set up all of our tours. Our room was a little too small but, we were moved to a bigger room for no extra charge. The decor of the rooms and the hotel were upgraded but, they kept the nostalgia of when Marilyn Monroe lived there. At the time we were there, Brad Pitt paid a visit to the pool area, Christina Aguilera was filming in one of the banquet rooms and the BET awards had their after party there. It was very cool and I can't say enough positive things about the place.

The Roosevelt Hotel has a great atmosphere both inside and out. The rooms are very accomodating and 'hip'. The Tropicana bar near the pool is cool hangout at night, especially if you want to see some celebs. The only negative, is that the only parking they have is valet parking, which is 23.00 per night if you are staying at the hotel.

This hotel is right on Hollywood Blvd. The hotel is very unique in its service and decor from the cool modern black walls to the plasma TV. The whole room is dark and mysterious yet open the windows to a sunny California day complete with a lounge comfy enough to be a bed on the private patio! This does not look like a hotel room. The service is above the best. I love this place.

Wonderful customer service from the staff, very friendly and helpful. The hotel has just bêen remodeled - but the paint is sloppy, carpet is horrible, and furniture lơoks chipped. There was the most disturbing picture in our rơom that we covered up with a bed shêet. The hotel has a great pơol area, a wonderful place to be if you are single. From the reception to room service and the waiters at the restaurant, my family with 3 kids were treated warmly. Our room was fantastic and large and the beds made sleeping a pleasure. There were two dressing areas and storage. My kids enjoyed the large pool. It was close to all the sights from the Kodak theater to the Hollywood Mall. There was even a Disney Store nearby. All in all, our trip was one for the books because of the Roosevelt Hotel.

I had gotten tickets for Brazil 66 at the BowL.The concert was great! The Hotel was way above our expectations.1.)Walking distance to the Hollywood Bowl 2.) the hotel upgraded us to a pool cabana, still don't know why ....but what a nice room.3.) service around the pool was excellent.4.) we had breakfast in the restuarant. one of the best we have ever had. I had the short rib hash w/poached eggs and my husband had the lemon ricotto pancakes....unreal. and great service. The only down side, was it was very dark; dim lighting in the rooms ,hallways and restaurant.

Great location for tourists. We were in town for a wedding with my 5 month old. Not very baby friendly. Room was chilly and there were no ramps for stroller. I would have had a blast if I were about 5 years younger and didn't have a baby. Rooms adequate but $23/day for parking was pretty pricey. Our room was suprisingly quiet. Wish I could have joined the party!!!

If you are looking for a party scene with lots of potential for celebrity sitings, then this is all you need. A++ for service, especially at the bar and the Dakota. The food at the Dakota was *divine*, they have an excellent chef and wonderful wait staff. That being said, this hotel is definately geared for the younger, hipper, richer set. I can see how families with children would be put off by the atmosphere and the clientele can be a bit rowdy. These folks might want to look elsewhere unless you don't mind a bit of noise. Ask for a room on a higher floor so you can see hollywood blvd and Grauman's chinese theater.

The renovation of this hotel was impressive and will look good on someone's resume. However, the choices of colors that I saw will not make the hotel look good for very long. I saw a lot of chipped paint (dark over white really jumped out). The bathroom in our affordable room was too small. And the granola was $12. The location was fun for Hollywood tourists. And the guest themselves were far more enthusiastic and friendly than the staff. The staff was professional, cold and professional.

The hotel is incredibly dark and it's poorly maintained. The first room we had was barely inhabitable. The mini bar was not plugged in and there was not even an outlet near it. We had to wait an hour for a technician to get an extension cord. The shower glass was falling down. The customer service is pretty good though. They upgraded our room and allowed us to have a late checkout. The upgraded room was great but big and beautiful but again, the rooms are not well maintainted. Also, in both rooms, we could not control the temperature.

Right off the bat, people at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The new Roosevelt is definitely a trendy botique hotel, and they don't try to hide behind any false pretenses that they are something else. We stayed in a cabana room overlooking the pool - there was a little noise at night, but it's nothing to complain about, and the mornings were really great. Much more fun and a better location than either of the standards. Although the downtown standard still wins out for interior design as far as I'm concerned... I do wish they would consider using real mint in their Mohitos tho.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed here; the first with the new management. I have to say that while the hotel is ultra-fashinonable with dark lighting, architectural details and exceptional food, since the management changed it seems that a lot of the service details have fallen by the wayside. An example was the slow drinks service at the pool bar, the almost-rough towels in the bathroom (and the limited supply of them), and the lack of busboy staff in the restaurant. The rooms were attractive, with all the standard conveniences, though the small TVs and surcharge to make your own in-room coffee seemed ridiculous. On the plus side, the beds are very comfortable with nice pillows and duvets, and the staff at the front desk was very accommodating when we moved our original room choice because it was next to the hotel's HVAC system. The hotel's burger bar is excellent--and open late--and the lobby bar provided a nice place to kick back and people-watch. All in all, I probably won't go back for a while--there are a few other historic hotels in town I might try out the next time I'm having work done to my house.

The Rosevelt is a Hollywood classic. The decor of the public areas are truly fabulous. The entire place is fashionably and almost comically, dimly lit We enjoyed lounging on the leather chaises in the huge lobby area. The front desk has lap-tops available for checking e-mail to retreive your confirmation number, which unfortunately we had to do,the only glitch in our stay. The concierge and front desk staff were helpful and friendly and not the least bit condescending, often a problem in higher end hotels . "The Tropicana" pool-side lounge and restaurant was tres LA, complete with colorful characters in dark glasses and cowboy-boots and wanna-be starletts sunbathing by the well-heated pool. The room, with its minimalist decor was clean and had the most comfortable bed ever! The sheets and duvet, luxurious, The windows opened to let on the night air of closed for silence at our preference. The only downsides..A bit of a communication problem with Expida delayed our check-in a few minutes while phone calls were made however, we were given a nice room on the highest floor and felt duly compensated. The parking charge was a bit high, considering our brand new car was left outside overnight. We will definately use this hotel again, as the rate we received by using Expida was a great value for lodgings of this caliber. Next time we will have our confirmaiton number handy. This was an Expida pick and we see why.
