I booked a last-minute business trip online when almost every hotel in Chicago was booked. For some reason Allegro had a room, so I took it without knowing anything about the hotel. During our stay we loved everything about Allegro including the location, decor, service, free wine happy hour in the lobby, restaurant, bar, and room service. Next time I'll get a bigger room than "deluxe," but it was ample.

True to their motto, they treat you like a genuine star here! The rooms were a bit small but were trumped by the quality of service. Within easy walking distance of everything including Millenium Park, Michigan Avenue & Sears Tower.

Although the rooms are small, they are clean, comfortable and more interesting than your basic hotel. The hotel has a homey feeling and is well located within walking distance of many attractions or the free trolley service. Easy walking distance from the South Shore Train Depot on Randolph St. The free wine hour at 5pm each day is an added bonus.

I found the hotel to be a good value, the rooms were fine, ours could have used a closet, but everything else was very good. The hotel has a good feeling and lots of energy with an active resturant and bar, and updated decor. One significant advantage was that it was only a block away from the CTA station at Clark and Lake which made it easy to get around the city and to and from the airport. I would stay here again Service seemed fine and friendly. Only recommendation is I would not recommend the Greek resturant across the street, marginal food and service.

The hotel rooms themselves are a little dated but plenty of elbow grease and effort has been spent to hussy them up. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay, and the view, even though it was mostly street, did look over some of the skyline. The staff was incredibly helpful, and the bar on the ground floor was awesome. The lighting, availability of drinks, and knowledge/friendliness of the staff in the bar was better than any I've had, even in Vegas. I'd recommend the Allegro for a weekend getaway, it's cheaper than the bigger hotels, and it's a healthy walk from Michigan Ave and State St. Go now!!

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Allegro very much. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was great- very clean and full of amenities such as wireless internet, Aveda bath products, full room service, etc.. The hotel is in the theatre district and it definitely has the feel of being in a theatre when you walk in. The room decorations are very cool as well. Being in the theatre district, you are close to public transportation and walking distance to several attractions. I'm not sure how it would be for families but it was perfect for those of us without children.

Hotel Allegro is located in the heart of the theater district. Much of Chicago is easily accessable by walking or a short taxi ride. It's an old building, small rooms, wavy floors, character and quirkiness. It's been remodeled so it has all the amenities. Looks like it was decorated by "Changing Rooms". The bed was comfortable for one person, with two it sagged and jiggled.

The hotel is very well located near two "El" stops, including one line that goes to O'Hare and another to Midway. It is also just a couple blocks from the opera and Chicago's theaters. The room was well appointed but strictly average in size. There was no coffee shop in the hotel and on the weekend in the Loop, Chicago's business district, it was a bit hard to find a place to get something light.

I expected more from a Kimpton. Good Decor, but the room was so small I felt like I was in a college dorm room. The location of our rooms was bad as well. I must say they did accommodate out early check in by 6 hours. Major Kudos. But I'm thinking we paid for it with the poor room assignment! But I am not scratching off all the Kimpton hotels just yet.

We were in town for the Taste of Chicago so the hotel location was great for getting to Grant Park - a nice walk. We found the area to be a little "dead" on the weekend and holiday since it's in the business district. Not a whole lot of restaurants in the immediate area, but we found some. Lots of good shopping though! The hotel staff was very responsive to our needs in a timely manner.

This hotel does not seem to believe in providing good and truthful customer service. We had difficulty from the moment we checked in, and this did not change the whole weekend. It was very hot in our room, and they told us we could control the temperature, which was not true. The only thing the heating and cooling unit seemed to do was make a lot of noise. The shower curtain did not extend the full length of the shower, so the floor was drenched every morning. It's just not worth the hassle when there are much better hotels that are much more conveniently locates.

The only thing I would change is to provide more counter space in the bathroom to accomodate all the "stuff" women travel with. Other than that, I am a loyal customer.
