| Great beach. My 5-year old loved looking at the fish and turtles underwater wearing his goggles -- he can't swim yet, so I swam out to the rocks with him. Great pool too.

It saved our trip, our wedding, our everything. You WILL NOT be disappointed with this resort!!! We will be going back for EVERY anniversary from now on!

| If you looking for a relaxing time, this is the place! Or if you want activities that's also not far away. Great layout, unbelievable views, awesome service! Good food at all resturants. Not cheap, but hey, it's Hawaii. Super pool area, grounds impeccable, and excellent golf course. Nice entertainment also. Do not miss the sunsets! We've been to this resort two years in a row and were not disappointed either stay.

| The hotel is situated in a secluded area. Very private and quiet. Hotel staff at the front desk were friendly and polite. I did encounter a little rudeness and unprofessional manner from the staff in the Cafe Terrace during breakfast. Other than a rude and unfriendly encounter with these two particular employees, everyone else was warm and hospitable towards me. There were some mold in the shower and in the bath tub in our room. This is totally unacceptable for a four star hotel. Hotel staff gave us a free room upgrade. I did enjoy my stay overall. So much privacy at the resort.

| We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights with our kids and had a really nice time - hardly left the hotel. It was quite windy which made the beach difficult and prohibited them from opening the pool umbrellas for shade, but when it quieted down we had a good time in the surf and walking along the shore path to their sister hotel. Pool was nice, but wish they had an area that was more shallow than 4 feet. The only other gripe was a lack of shade around the pool. They did however have cabanas to rent that were inexpensive and readily available before 10 am. Our kids had a blast at the kids program for a day. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and convenient, otherwise not a lot of restaurants for casual dinner with the kids, but a few places just a short drive away. The rooms are decent size compared to most and at night we could go to sleep listening to the surf and the live jazz in the lounge - very nice! Overall we had a wonderful stay and will return some day - I recommend it, even with kids.

| Hapuna Beach is the most beautiful beach on the Big Island and nothing compares to being steps away from the sand when staying at the Hapuna Beach Prince Resort Hotel. If you can afford it, stay in an ocean front room so you can leave the lanai doors open all night and listen to the waves. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff is friendly and unobtrusive. If available, get the breakfast package with your room rate. The daily buffet is delicious and if you eat late enough, it will hold you up until dinner. The food and drink prices at the hotel are expensive and you have to drive off property for affordable meals. The snack bar does have reasonably priced sandwiches, drinks and bakery goods and is open until 9 p.m. The hotel is family-friendly and the beach is entertainment enough with great waves for boogie-boarding and a shallow cove for snorkelling, complete with sea turtles. The one complaint we had was that the pool was not open in the evening, and there's no activities or a place for kids/teens to go at that time. Even if you can only afford a couple of nights, staying at the only hotel on Hapuna Beach is an experience you won't forget!

| The Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel was well named. The beach is one of the best we've ever enjoyed. Clean, protected, and easily accessed from the hotel. Beach umbrellas allowed us to spend the day there without concern for too much sun. The water was delightful and allowed us to swim while spotting dolphins off in the distance. Snorklers watched turtles and loads of fish swim by. A great spot for fun and relaxation.

| We recently stayed at the Hapuna Prince(Feb 06). We found the pictures on Expedia didnt do the resort justice. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was very good, and the ground where beautifully manicured. The only thing that was just okay was the room service, I order a few things that were not good but the Coast Grille made up for that...dinner there ws amazing! We loved the resort and wont stay anywhere else on the Big Island.

| We stayed here four nights in February '06 and plan to come back for a longer stay next year. Like Hawaii in general, the Hapuna Prince is a bit pricey but ultimately worth it. Staff is incredibly courteous, layout does require a lot of walking as other reviewers have pointed out, but there are incredible views to be had from almost anywhere within the resort. We recommend having someone show you to your room at check in -- the vastness of the resort can be daunting until you get used to it. We were upgraded to "full ocean view," so that was a bonus. But you don't need to pay extra for a view if you don't want to, there are plenty of other places to watch the sunset, like the poolside bar, Reef Lounge, anywhere really. Pool is only four feet deep. Beach is unbelievably close (and beautiful). Lounge chairs and umbrellas are set up for guests daily. Reservations are key at any of the restaurants (food will not disappoint, though it's a tad overpriced). In-house shops are convenient, Club House facilities are top-notch. I had a message that worked wonders on my sore neck. Definitely hit Costco (minutes south of the airport) when you land for water, beer, snacks, even clothing.

| The Hapuna Beach Prince is a great hotel. The staff is well trained and eager to assist. They were also very friendly and helpful. The facilities are terrific. We knew that it is a big hotel and we would do a lot of walking. But if this doesn't bother you this is a great place. The pool is large and gives you the feeling that it is not very crowded. The beach was great and you can even walk over to Hapuna State Beach. The restaurants were good although pricey. Having a car let's you seek out other alternatives which are a little more reasonable. We had dinner in Cafe Pesto and Roy's which are both a short distance from the hotel. The golf is great also with a a very friendly and accomodating staff. All in all we loved the hotel and will be coming back in the future.

| My husband and I stayed for a week at the Hapuna for our honeymoon in Nov 05 & enjoyed our stay very much. Good things: friendly service, free parking, good food, awesome beach- plenty of chairs & umbrellas, cool infinity pool and hottub and plenty of lounge chairs w/great ocean views, great weather-no rain, beautiful sunsets, ok rooms with large bathrooms, beach is the best for snorkeling and we swam with sea turtles on two different days, beautiful fish, octopus, snowflake eel. Bad things: we had to wait 2 hours to check in, mildew on the walls by the door in our room, stained carpet in our room, they charged us $4 when we requested to borrow a fork from room service when they were already coming to bring us ice (the nerve!) Recommendation: If you are looking for a place to just chill on the beach or by the infinity pool, go snorkeling every day, get a great tan, scuba dive and spend a lot of money on dining, this is your place. If you are looking for a lot of activity and nightlife this is not your island or your hotel. Overall, great stay, Hawaii is paradise.

| The hotel was generally pretty nice. It is real spread out and it can be a long walk to the pool, beach, or another room. Bring your walking shoes. The food was over priced and over rated. I don't mind spending $38 for a steak dinner but it better be good. What I got was a lousy steak cooked wrong. They did comp the meal though after I mentioned it was a bad steak. And our friends ordered the Kobe beef ribeye ($50.00) and it was weak too. The beach was awsome. The hotel has a little store where you can buy soda and beer. The fitness center is another walk to get to. I reccomend getting the breakfast package as it is a nice breakfast buffet.

The only complaint was that the maid service on the room was a bit of a mystery. Sometimes, the room wouldn't get made up until almost 5 PM while others they knocked on our door at 10 AM. Sometimes they would come in an only leave bottled water but not touch the room.

Bad things: 1- hapuna is huge, be prepaired to walk A LOT. it takes you 15 mins to go from parking lot to your room 2- you should be very lucky to get ocean view at all. Oceanfront rooms , they all have trees in front. however, Some of premimum ocean view rooms in the 9th floor have panoramic beatiful ocean view. no difference in rooms other than view. 3- Complementory breakfast at "Ocean Terrace" was diappointing.

| Our family of 4 spent 8 great nights at this hotel. We had 2 Terrace rooms, which are the least expensive but they were excellant rooms. The only thing these rooms lacked was a good view of the ocean; SO WHAT!!! The thing about Hapuna Prince that I realized very quickly is that ALL of the employees are friendly and it's like they're in sync with each other. For example, when I called the wrong number to have our car brought up front (there's no additional charge for valet parking, by the way), the person I called was actually at the "sister" hotel (the Mauna Kea); she was very courteous and promptly forwarded me to the right extension. Another thing we liked about Hapuna Prince is that it doesn't seem crowded even though the hotel was at 100% capacity the entire 8 days. The beach is a very short walk from the pool. Around the hot tub & (large) pool area, it was never over 1/3 full; there were always plenty of lounge chairs. The restaraunt's at the hotel are all very good, and so are the local ones in Kawaihae but you're limited on your choices & they're all pricey. You can forget about Mickey D's or anything close to fast food on that part of the island; it's not there--but that's not a bad thing. Just expect to pay a lot more for meals prepared by some excellant chef's. Staying at the Hapuna Prince was relaxing & very enjoyable; we can't wait to go back!

After many hours of research and deliberation we decided on the Prince Hotel. Now we can not compare it to others but we have to say our stay was excellent. Rooms nice size Oceanfront clean. Has small refrigerator. Service Everyone we encounter was friendly and helpful. Pool Very nice. Cabanas available. Beach Excellent. Food Average hotel food. Golf Its Hawaii so its a premium, Hotel course 115.00. Tight layout. Snorkeling Nice cove right on the beach. Water a bit murky. Sea turtles hang out just to the left of the cove. Very neat.

| We went to the Hapuna Prince a second time because we loved it so much the first time! We visited many of the other "Resort" properties around the Big Island and found the Hapuna Prince to be superior as far as beach, pool, service, upkeep and general ambience are concerned. I don't know what other resorts have as rooms, but the Hapunas rooms are clean, sizeable, comfortable, and the oceanfront ones are spectacular w/unobstructed views, very close to the water. There are no other white sand beaches that parallel the Hapuna, (except The Mauna Kea's, but they were too snobby over there,) and we love snorkeling with the turtles in their private, protected cove. The open air atmosphere and the consistantly friendly and well attending staff, make the Hapuna Prince one of the best hotel experiences I have ever known. GO there!!!...You won't be disappointed!
