For the location and level of service you can't touch the price anywhere else. The beds were older with lumpy mattresses in one room and a very hard one in the other, but we slept ok. Everything was clean, service was very good. I would stay there again.

Kitano is located at 38th and Park---easy walking distance to Fifth Ave shops and Theater district. The lobby is lovely, the staff is accomodating and the concierge was efficient in getting us info and tickets for shows. The downside is that the restaurants are very expensive, the shower apparatus does not provide much water pressure and the rooms can be dark if not on the street sides. Well appointed and very clean---excellent value for Manhattan.

Traveled with young adult son so twin beds worked very well. The large furnished umbrella came in very handy on a rainy day. Room was extremely comfortable with easy-to-adjust climate control. So quiet we only heard a bit of distant street traffic a few times. Clean, safe, comfortable and convenient to Grand Central Station. Staff was always accomodating and efficient. A bit pricey but very much worth it for the comfort and convenience. Still happy after many NYC visits!

I have two different feeling to this hotel. Firstly, about the bad aspect, the room was not really satisfied compared to the price of this hotel. The cleaness is fine, they will give you nice Japanese cosmetic amenities in the bath room. However, the room is nothing special, very bland. On the other hand, the restaunrats in this hotel were good. I did try to have authentic Japanese food, that was fabulus. Their presentation, taste, and serving were excellent, like "Iron chef".There is one bar in the hotel. They have jazz concert from Wed to Sat. The bar is not big space, but that made me feel close to the player. That was really good.

I've been to New York a number of times and the Kitano is hands-down the best hotel in Manhattan. Although smaller than the mega-hotels in the city, the room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful, the location is superb (two-blocks south of Grand Central Station) and the ammenities are wonderful. Imagine, a hotel shower with decent water pressure! I'll stay at the Kitano every trip to NYC.

I can't believe a hotel of that quality would put a guest in a room with 2 very uncomfortable TWIN beds. I was expecting at the least a queen bed and was very dissapointed to be given a room with 2 twin beds which the front desk could not change.
