We enjoyed our entire stay at Humphrey's Half Moon in San Diego so much that it will be our first site to look for accomodations for our next trip. The room more than met our expectations and the gorgeous grounds and all the extras the hotel has to offer cannot be surpassed. A home away from home with all the comforts and quiet times one would want.

This is a fun place with tiki charm and a tropical feel. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant has great food and a nice view of the harbor. The bayside rooms have a great view of downtown San Diego. The room service was the fastest ever. I'd recommend it anytime, especially if you don't like the hustle and bustle of the large chain hotels. It's in a central location between SeaWorld and Downtown, and it is a bit of a drive from either, but it's definately worth it.

The junior suite was very nice however, I have 3 complaints. The pullout couch mattress was very uncomfortable and being in the end room, we heard everything during the early morning hours with deliveries, etc in the parking lot. Also, the pocket door in the bathroom is very inconvenient, especially if you are in a hurry or not strong. Everyone who works there is very helpful and nice. I would go back.

For the price paid and hotel gave us an upgrade so we would not have to view parking lot the value was poor. Very depressing small accomodations. Noisy. Not convenient to parked car. We travel to San Diego alot and we will not stay here again.

We stayed at Humphrey's in March for a long weekend and were pleased with every part of our stay. The staff was great, the rooms were charming and the atmosphere was beautiful. I was initially worried that we would be too far away from the night life of San Diego, but we found the location very convenient and relaxing. This is a great resort and I'll definitely be back.

We were not expecting anything like this in our first trip to San Diego! I located this hotel using the Net and was NOT disappointed in any aspect. We attended our nephew's graduation from the Marine Corp. The shuttle was very accomodating, both to the Base and to anywhere we might want to sight-see or dine. The grounds were amazing. I took the most beautiful photograph of a red poppy, right in front of the hotel. I would stay there again on my next visit, without hesitation!

Although we'll continue to visit San Diego, we will not return to this hotel. Our first room, assigned when they could find no record of our reservation, had to be changed because of heater and bathroom fan noise. Rooms were very cramped. The restaurant attached to the hotel was not prepared for visitors and accomodated them in an extremely poor fashion. Although we paid for 4 nights, we only stayed 3 nights.

As a resident from the tropics, I found myself very relaxed on the balcony floor overlooking lush tropical foilage in the foreground with swimming pool and minigolf area further in the background. Ambience was relaxing. The staff were friendly, helpful, and ensured my five night stay to be comfortable. Room service was great and I didn't need to wait long for my meals. The executive suite is large and I especially enjoyed the full size refrigerator, range, and microwave as I prepared vegetarian meals during my stay.

This was my first visit to San Diego. The hotel was very nice, elegant, but not over-bearing. The staff went out of their way to be sure that we (my son and I) were pleased with the accomodations. The concierge had maps, directions, discounts, etc. available along with personal recommendations. The gift shop was expensive but had a nice selection of sundries and souvenirs. The onsite restaurant was awesome. The food was excelent and the view out into San Diego Bay over the sailboats was very pleasant. The hotel is within 10 minutes of SeaWorld, the Zoo, the Airport, and Old Town.

Location is beautiful near the ocean. Except I had to change the room because it was behind the stage (building M) and next to the meeting room which was noisy. Unfortunately, I lost my diamond bracelet during moving to another room in building L. I was told that there was a shuttle to MCRC for every 30 minutes on Thursday and Friday, but I missed the 7:30 shuttle and the front desk told me the next one was at 8:30 so I ended up driving to MCRD.

Humphrey's was good enough. I've stayed in better and worse. Room was okay....nothing special....just a hotel room. I was on the parking lot side, so the view from the patio was less than inviting. I'm sure the pool or grounds side of the building was better. Hotel staff was very nice and accomodating. Housekeeping was EXCELLENT. I actually called to compliment them...better than many of the "high end" hotels.

We were supposed to go to Jamaica that week, but Hurricane Dennis kept us from going. So we looked online to find the most tropical resort-like place that we could in San Diego. It was the best place we could have stayed... We really enjoyed our time at Humphreys and all the little food places within walking distance were great. What a romantic getaway!

I lucked into this hotel. It is in a great location on the bay. The grounds are beautiful and very tropical with an island feel. You can select from the basic view or upgrade to a garden, pool, or bay view. I recommend the upgrade....and request a balcony. You could spend your day at the hotel and enjoy it. Less that 10 minutes from most attractions.

I traveled to San Diego for a business trip and was not expecting to enjoy the hotel as much as I did. Wonderful atmosphere around the pool area. Restaurant is very pricey. Problems with room service. Convenient to airport. Looks like fun in the summer since they host several major music events such as Hootie and the Blowfish and Aretha Franklin. If you are used to 5-star do not stay here. Very clean. Staff at front desk very helpful.

Our marina-view suite was more like a one-bedroom condo than a hotel room. The balcony overlooking the marina was perfect for morning coffee and the full kitchen was convenient. Double sinks, double closets, a pullout queen bed, 2 TVs and the dressing room made it a snap to share the space with our teenager with plenty of room for all. Shelter Island is a scant 10 minutes from downtown with no downtown hassle. The (very large) heated pool and hot tub provided a relaxing experience after every day of sightseeing. We loved it.

We stayed in one of the suites overlooking the marina, and were very satisfied with the room. Clean, comfortable, and spacious. We had booked a standard room for 3 nights, but were upgraded to the suite at the time of check in. We looked in on a standard room (out of curiosity) and felt that our stay would have been very satisfying even if we had not got the upgrade. The standard rooms were comparable to a business class hotel room. The suite we stayed in had a living room, Kitchen, Bedroom, Dressing Room, and a Bath. Each suite had access to a personal patio and grass area overlooking the marina via 2 sliding doors located in the bedroom and the living room.We traveled with our 13-month daughter and found the hotel accommodating. We were concerned about noise (from other reviews) but this was not a problem. Perhaps when the concerts on the bay are going on, this is a concern. The grounds and pool were very well landscaped that gave us a tropical getaway experience. The pool and hot tub were clean, modern, and relaxing. We only ate breakfast at the hotel once, and all our dinners were out as well, so not enough to judge by. The one meal we had was fine; it seemed average to above average.A perfect hotel for the money.

Last week I enjoyed my stay at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn in San Diego on Shelter Island. I went to San Diego on a business trip and wanted to stay out of the downtown area for a change. Humphrey's was exactly what I was hoping it would be. The night view looking across the bay at downtown San Diego is beautiful. The hotel rooms were nice and big. The hotel grounds were very nice and the surrounding tropical gardens added to the comfortable atmosphere. The hot tub area is in the midst of some nice palms adding to the relaxation. The heated pool
