Very musty and dated. Very overpriced. We spent most of our time and meals at a hotel/casino down the street.

When we arrived at the Cal Neva I was impressed with the size of our room and the beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. There were some small issues with the cleanliness, the sham on our bed had a visible stain and the hotel has thin walls so walking down the hallway you know your neighbors' business. It is relatively close to the mountains in North Lake Tahoe and I would stay here again.

I wouldn't consider it a really nice place, but given the price range, it's a good value. It's clean and the staff is friendly.

My wife and I were there for two days during the first days of 2006 when the weather was bad. Though the electricity was out for a while because of the weather, the staff did well to service us. The hotel was clean and pleasant, especially the fireplace in the Indian Room.

This is a decent hotel, but don't expect a casino. The table games are only open about 6 hours a day! It seemed like every time I wanted to play a little blackjack the tables were closed. Other than that, however, it was nice.

The Cal Neva resort is quite outdated but for some that is the charm. The rooms were clean and the restaurant had a spectacular view and the food was very good. The casino did not have air conditioning and should be renovated, along with the pool area. The view from our room was breathtaking.

The chararacter and the history of the hotel is very interesting. But the biggest drawback to the hotel, is the overall attitude of the staff. Minority were unfriendly, no willingness to answer questions or provide any more information that "absolutely" necessary. It fact, they seemed bored.

My husband and I spent a long weekend recently at the Cal Neva. We requested a nice lakeview room. Just after we booked the reservation, we read some bad reviews, and wondered if we had chosen wisely.......We were welcomed courteously, given a marvelous room on the seventh floor, beautifully appointed and clean. It was quiet, peaceful, exactly what we needed. One night a slight commotion in the hallway ( someone had got married!) was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The food in the dining room was excellent at every meal. The staff are great. We could not have been more pleased, and we are planning another trip next fall.
