| Hotel was ok for the price. Could be kept up a little better, but not bad. Pool does not open until 12:00 which was not a good thing for my childen. Not a luxury hotel by any means but again, for the price, I'd stay again.

| If you insist on luxury accomodations, this is not the place for you. But, if you want individuality, charm, friendly staff, and a good price, this is a great hotel. The chandelers in the lobby and the stained glass in the restaurant are beautiful while the furniture in the rooms is definitely early 1960's. No vending machines but the front desk gives you bottled water. The room service menu was dismal (go out to eat) but breakfast was perfect. Close to the metro and a diverse and interesting guest population. Not your convention hotel but there are too many of those in the world. Appreciate this hotel for what it is and enjoy paying less per night than the cost of a months rent for an apartment. You can spend the difference on a nice meal.

| What a great hotel! It was one block away from the convention, the staff was extremely helpful, and the restaurant was splendid and not expensive. I really appreciated how the staff went out of their way to help me find the MetroLink from the airport, and how conveniently they handled my awkward reservation. (I had reserved my first two days through one service and the last day through another.) I would definitely recommend this hotel!

| I thought this was a great old hotel with a lot of character. The Mayfair staff provided fair service and a clean room. My only complaint is that when guests in the same area of the building allowed their doors to slam shut, it resounded loudly throughout and even woke me once. This hotel is also easy to get to via the Metro train which has a stop nearby Pine street.

| The staff was nice, and the lobby was lovely. Some condition problems such as peeling wallpaper in hallways and room, and dripping faucets in bathroom. Some noise from hallways and other rooms. The room was clean enough, though I smelt cigarette smoke everytime the cleaning staff had been in my room. No major complaints nor kudos.

| First let me get the negatives out of the way: bartender in desperate need of customer service training, thin walls, outside windows really need a good cleaning, shower plumbing is really bad. Now, I'll say that we really enjoyed our stay. I love the charm of this hotel. Price was very reasonable. Walked to Edward Jones Dome for the game and walked to the Arch. Best location in St Louis!

| The hotel was not "historic" it was run down. The elevators were very small and the hallways were hot. The room was small and the bathroom was not convenient. There were cobwebs in the bathroom. The room was old and not updated. The curtains were dirty as well as the floor. We ordered room service and paid $32.00 only to still be hungry. The eggs were not cooked through and the bacon was old, the potatoes tasted as if they were sitting in grease and then re-heated. Do not recommend the breakfast. The bar closed every night at 10 so we had to go across the street to enjoy a few drinks. The parking is 25.00 per night. Overall I was expecting much more and I will NEVER return to this hotel. The only good thing is it's conviently located right in the heart of downtown. I would never recommend this hotel!!

| We stayed two nights during labor day weekend and enjoyed the stay very much. The room was ok, nice and quiet. Easy to control heat/AC. The breakfast was a little slow during peak hours. It is perfectly located for all downtown activity and within walking distance for the Landing and Arch. Close to subway as well. More chairs at the rooftop pool would be nice.

| While the hotel has some beautiful historic elements, it is still "old". My travel companion and I picked it because we came in to St. Louis early, and it was central for things like the Arch and LacLedes Landing, and it was half the cost of the other hotels we researched. The room was basic; unfortunately, someone had at one time had a fridge/mini bar combo that hadn't been completely sealed off.. the fridge was part way open and defrosting, leaving a musty air to the room. The elevators are small, so two people with lots of luggage hardly fit. Service was exemplary, however. We traveled in from opposites sides of the country on red-eye flights, and were allowed to check in early (10:30 am) at no extra cost. While we were there, a child dropped his favorite toy into the elevator shaft, and they quite readily took pains to rescue it for him. Also, a slight snafu with our room gave us immediate complimentary breakfasts. The hotel served it's purpose...

| -No parking garage unless paying $25 extra for valet/ lot cost was $10 when other hotels cover parking costs -dirty elevators/hallways -overpriced food at restaurant with an atmosphere that did not match food costs -service was slow and not very thorough (table was not wiped when we were seated, did not receive the fruit dish that was supposed to come with my sandwich, no bread plates were given, unimpressive menu variety, etc.) -thin walls (able to hear a lot of commotion from other rooms) -advertised a free shuttle to local venues but was unavailable when the driver was off for the day -room request was unable to be satisfied (received a non-smoking queen room instead of a smoking king room).

| As a historic hotel I expected it to have antique furnishings and to be elegant however it looked like it had been updated in the 80's. The bathroom was tiny. Decorating aside our room was clean we slept well. Parking is 25.00 valet or self-park in a nearby garage or lot. When we called for directions to the hotel we were given directions from the opposite way we were traveling. Overall I would rate this hotel as average. Nothing particularly rememberable.

| The room was adequate but overpriced. The elevators were slow, the hallways were dank and hot. There is not convenient parking, so you have to pay $25.00 per night for valise parking. When we checked out, they could not find our keys. One of the valise workers had taken our keys home with them, so we had to wait for him to drive back in to work.

In addition to the "less than stellar" condtions, I found that the hotel staff was not very friendly at all, and even at times seemed to be bothered when I requested assitance, such as can you fix my phone in my room.

| This is a bad hotel. The woodwork in the lobby isn't classy, it's chipped and worn. The elevators are very small. The ice machines are only located on odd numbered floors. The ice machine on the 3rd, 5th, and 7th floors were broken. It took two days to fix. On the first night, the water stopper in the tub didn't work. When we got back on the second night, maintence had come in and torn our shower apart. When I called to complain, they moved us to another room. I asked them to send someone up with a handcart to move our luggage. I finally had to go downstairs to get the handcart myself and move all the luggage alone. When I complained to the desk manager, he said "Too Bad" and offered us breakfast for the next morning. He then asked me if that was satisfactory, when I said no, but if he included breakfast for the following day he said "no, you're only inconvienced for one night". But he wasn't helping to move the luggage. In our second room the water stopper didn't work, so you could only take a shower. The parking was very expensive, the sidewalks were in poor repair, and they only had one out of the way entrance open. They also will not give you extra towels, soaps, lotions, etc. when you ask. The carpeting, lampshades, etc. were all very worn and threadbare also.

| I chose this hotel specifically because it was historic. I expect a modicum of problems in a hotel constructed over 80 years ago, so the most important thing is service. In this respect, I was quite satisfied. Any problems that crept up were satisfied immediately. If I have any complaints, they would be limited to the parking situation and the lack of operable windows. Otherwise, I was quite pleased and would stay again.

| Unlike the lady in front of me in the check out line, I wouldn't say it was the worst hotel experience I've ever had but it certainly wasn't what I would expect from a Wyndham. No shampoo in the room - "the hotel's run out sir." All the lights in one of the historic elevators failed (made choosing the floor interesting) - "we'll have it attended to when our engineer gets here." Nobody seemed to consider that older and more nervous guests might not appreciate an out of season halloween fright. I appreciate that historic hotels have a greater maintenance burden than their more contemporary brethren, but I don't see that as an excuse for not being properly painted or cleaned. Interestingly too, the bar was the only place in all St. Louis not showing the Cardinals play off game taking place a few minutes walk away.Hotel badly needs smartening up but on a positive note the staff were generally courteous and helpful given the problems that they had to deal with.
